What's wrong with it showing a reflection ? As look as it doesn't have a green hue.
I meen the screen reflect with a green hue. The screen when is on also has green hue. My girlfriend’s one doesn’t have that behavior. Her phone is a little bit more yellow but her uniformity is perfect and doesn’t have this problem. Also I will send my phone to repair but I will guess that i will get returned back with no fix or replacement

Oh wow ok then that's no good. When off it should be 100% pure black. Send it in for sure.

I mean the screen is off 100% off but the reflect has like a green hue. The panel itself is like green is not black black I don’t know how to explain it. The panels are differents and can be appreciated even when it’s off. Also the color shift way more than in my girlfriend’s phone. Anyway I will send it now to the store.

Received my 12 PM replacement today.
Display is perfectly uniform and this whites are near perfect.

Also this has 0 issues with raised blacks.
Tested it in pitch dark room with my previous 12 PM.

Old one has horrible green glow during boot sequence, while new one is completely black, no issues whatsoever.

New one:
SN: G0ND
Production week: 51
Display: G9Q

Old one:
SN: F2LD
Production week: 41
Display: G9N

Also the old one with a supposedly perfect G9N display suffered from horrible image retention.

Very happy with the replacement, this is a keeper.

thats so nice to hear
What was the ios ver of new one?
Is there any difference in brightness?

Is that with True Tone on or off. With True Tone off it’s too blue.
Tomorrow maybe we will have a new iOS update (iOS 14.3.1) will this fix anything regarding to this issue? Time will say. But I really don’t think a software fix will fix my issue, the green tint or glow emanates from the edges, more noticeable at the top and left edge. From the top it goes all the way to almost the middle but not at the same degree, is like if there was a leak of light but this isn’t the issue cause oled emits light itself and doesn’t need a backlight.

I’m currently on the beta , that didn’t fix the green tint on my previous pro Max.

I’m 100% in the camp that LCD is the better, superior screen tech. Not because I’m saying it’s more advanced, but because the ultimate end result is superior. Better colors, better accuracy, no burn in, no pwm, better viewing angles, you name it.

Before OLED, were you unhappy with LCD screens and thought they had a yellow-tint too?

I dunno, I’m relatively new to the iPhone scene compared to some on on here. My first iPhone was the 3GS and then two years later I bought the 4s. I remember very well the complaints on forums about the yellow tint on the 4s. Some were more yellowier than others. Oh, those fond memories, seems like yesterday.

Lol wow.

This is why Apple gets away with this every year. Because people can’t seem to grasp this simple concept, which I’ve repeated a nauseam, including to you Bryan:

Not all screens are the same. Some are more yellow, or out of tolerance, than others.

The valid issue I bring up is that some will be yellow some will not, and reject the yellow ones.

many of the lcd screens I’ve gotten have been perfect, pristine, and clear. The ones that were yellow got rejected.

hope this helps this time

by the way, this is stated right in the OP. Right there my dude. Right in there.

Yes, I thought I could go back to LCD and I bought iPhone 11 from Apple, production 2020/08 in the thin box without the charger.
It had yellow tint compared to my iPhone X 2017, fonts weren’t that sharp, worse viewing angle, grey instead of black, it had a bit worse smearing while scrolling and the mute switch was broken, I’ve called apple same day and said I want to return it and they picked it up today.

Yep, regardless of the technology, some screens will be yellow, some will not.

Of course, this year is the worst on record, but for the most part there is a batch of yellow screens and a batch of good screens every year, regardless of tech.

I'd love to think this will change when Mini and Micro LED are released, but likely won't. There will still be a good batch and a bad batch with those screens as well.

My intent is not to offend you. I am just genuinely curious if you really thought that the grass was greener back when iPhones used LCD displays.

Edit to add: I find OLED displays superior to LCD, but am open to the opinion/ideas of others.

I had hopes a new tech would end the huge variance but those hopes were dashed with the iPhone X. Now I think oled has more variance and higher likelihood of tinting or defects than lcd. Too bad. Maybe mini led will be better.

Also I think it’s hilarious how you switch personas when logged in as Bryan bowler and then let your true inner troll out with the other fake account. At least we can see your true colors there.
Was the iPhone X your first experience of OLED panels on mobile devices. ?

Had seen a lot of flawless Samsung phones in the wild.
I’m not trying to be disrespectful but I’ve owned primarily owned Samsung devices since the Note 3 thru to Note 20Ultra. My first Note 20U had the green tint issue similar to what some, including myself experienced on here and a few had uniformity issues in the past, especially the earlier models like the Note 3 and 4, pink tinge uniformity for example.

I’m sure that’s the case. As should be clear I believe in variance across all screen technologies and manufacturers. Companies build their tolerance levels based on what they think customers will tolerate. So I think the we, as the consumers, should demand tighter tolerance ranges. Sounds like you don’t disagree.

What on earth are you talking about? I’ve been here for a decade and only have one account.

So you found there to be a huge variance before OLED?

this isn't twitter we don't need hashtags.

there's no reason to lock it because users are still providing data points and others are seeing value in it.

if you think its a useless observation or pursuit, thats also totally fine - just opt out of reading and posting here but I don't see the harm in DISCUSSING something? haha color me weird

So, you don’t see the harm in discussing something.
Even when that something is based on unfounded conspiracies and terms such as “perfect” and “flawless” are banded around without any way to objectively define the criteria. Random percentages are mentioned. Accusations of unproved unethical sales practices are made. And all of that by the OP.

Of course people should be discussing when they think there could be something wrong with their iPhone, but this thread was conspiratorial from the very first posting And should not have been allowed to continue on those terms.

Can you document where I said all that?

cause I can point you to multiple examples in this thread where people have used colorimeters to measure their 12s white point at 6200-6400k. It’s also been in a ton of reviews. Not to mention the lack of color uniformity. Guess what that means?

yellow. 100% proven, confirmed and documented.

guys after using my iPhone 12 pro for two months, the yellow tint is not so visible during the day but in the evening the smartphone becomes unwatchable .. maybe it depends on the surrounding light or it is a software problem .. this forces me to activate color filters .. is it my impression or sometimes the smartphone is perfect and other times very yellow?
