I’m sooooooo glad I held onto my 2020 12.9 Pro and didn’t rush out to upgrade. Would‘ve been a BIG waste of money for me. Can’t say I’m surprised. Seems like they’re hesitant to alienate all those who recently purchased a 2020 or even 2018 Pro. Almost seems as if they needed to get rid of some M1 chips. They threw the XDR display on the 12.9 so it wouldn‘t look so obvious ?

Everything on the conference has been disappointing. Even saying look siri now can work partially without internet. That’s how Siri used to be at the start ?.

at least my M1 iPad Pro will be very fast for years to come.

edit: 3GS had voice control which is what I’m referring…

like which reasons? Sorry just not following what would be different on the M1 than a 2019? best the LED basically which is of course SUPER nice
A lot of people want the iPad to be something it isn't right now. They want it to be another macOS device. The iPad is an awesome media consumption device and even with some editing (I edit photos and videos on mine).

For some reason, people are buying devices hoping the updates will follow. It feels like buying a Tesla hoping next year's update will add more range.

If you have 2020 iPad Pro or heck even 2018 iPad pro = Don't buy.
If you don't have any iPad Pro or later = It's worth it.

Simple as that.
I have a 2020 (and knew a new display would be coming soon). I don't plan on upgrading for another year or two. But there are some here creating these weird narratives about Apple.

It's definitely looking like that's the case. I'm waiting to see if there's any specific M1 features on the iPadOS 15 page coming shortly, but looks like 2020/2018 iPP users are currently safe... definitely wouldn't upgrade.

If anything, now I know I need to update my MacBook Pro (my personal one is 2013, my work one is a 2015)... neither can do Sidecar, so I doubt I'll get these cool features... where's that 14" MBP? :D

Like what Im seeing from the new MacOS, and it turns out that my 2017 MacBook Pro is currently in line for an upgrade. Couldn’t have worked out better for my timing. A new iPadOS that takes advantage of the M1 would’ve just made my life more complicated ?
