... Not all as it seemed

So, FCP X started up faster and was snappier but as soon as there was anything close to a substantial clip bin and timeline it rainbow wheels and lags terribly... hopefully this is sorted in the next update.

Standard system operations are snappier and easy to use.

Had a few crashes, less so than PB1 and also a 'memory running low' window which on a machine with 16GB of RAM and 1GB graphics card certainly shouldn't be happening.

Feels like we're getting there slowly but surely, plenty of Feedback Assistant reporting.

PB2 is not excellent. Not at least for me.

Anyone with a 13" 2010 MBP? Well, I'm testing PB2 of Yosemite on my 13" 2010 MBP, the one with the nVidia 320m, and 265MB of VRAM. And the entire system is laggy, very very laggy.

If I enter mission control with 3-4 Finder windows, App Store, and Safari (2-3 tabs only), the whole Mission Control is laggy. And is not easy to exit from MC with 3 fingers down, because it delays over one second in doing so. If one of the apps, like Safari, is full screen, then the troubles with the transitions/animations go worse.

And finally, battery life. How do you feel battery life? Better, equal or worse to previous OS X iterations.
In my case, if I do nothing, then is the same than Mavericks. But if I use Safari and other software, then the Battery life is worse in Yosemite than in Mountain Lion or even Mavericks.

Sorry for my bad english, its not my main languaje and I've been a long time without speaking it.

I have had many more problems running public beta 2 than the first version.
The most annoying problem is a constant lag while switching between apps, it usually takes at least 5 seconds now to switch between simple apps like safari, mail, or messages. I tried simple things like repairing disk permissions, resetting the PRAM and generally keeping an eye on the activity monitor. I'm running a 15-inch MB Pro Retina that I bought in January of this year, so it definitely shouldn't be the computer. Also, I would post feedback to apple but the Feedback assistant no longer opens.

Anyone else having this problem or know of a possible solution? Thanks!!

iMessage Notifications is not working when I send from my iPhone. Message is received, but no notifications.

Graphics glitch with the top Menu bar. Doesn't show the active app's Menu bar

Yosemite seems smoother overall I guess, but it seems like there's a bunch of new bugs.

For me only with the Mid 2014 MacBook Pro 8 GB ram 128 GB SSD and a 2011 MacMini with 500 GB Hdd, I have notice absolutely no lag in any of the Apps/programs, Mission Control or Safari with a few of them open at the same time. I did an update with PD#2, not a clean install. So I cannot understand what is happening with the two members above with Lag. Only one perplexing observation to report would be the memory in Activity Monitor. The PB#2 is using more of my main memory than Mavericks. About 5.33 + GB for Yosemite and 3.7 GB using Mavericks using this forum. ?????

(Macbook (White Unibody) Late 2009 Core2Duo 4GB 250GB HDD)

PB1 was running pretty good and PB2 seems a bit better, a few minor bugs I reported are fixed and apps barely crash anymore. Only my storage info is way off but other than that it's great!

Yosemite flipped out and I had to empty the partition and re-install so I had to spend a few minutes on Mavericks for the first time in about 3 weeks and damn if I didn't know better I would think Mavericks was in beta instead of Yosemite! So slow and buggy an laggy, Yosemite makes my macbook way better. Wonderfull :apple:

Does anybody know a trick to make Preview NOT CRASHING every time I try to search for a word, or when I scroll down a simple, 2-page PDF file?

I'm on Yosemite PB 2.

Thanks,

MPY.

Dear Gamesetmatch, ironically I don't have any issue with Preview on this second beta of Yosemite. But, as I said, the interface moves choppy. Specially entering Mission Control.

Slow Yosemite performance? Check your memory

I was ready to post about how painfully slow PB2 was and no improvement over PB1, when I went to check the model (MacBook Pro early 2008) and noticed I only had 2 GB of memory installed. A quick shutdown and pulled the memory risers, discovered that Yosemite was not recognizing 2 OWC 3rd-party 4GB chips in the lower riser - only recognizing the 2 original 1GB chips that came with the unit. (Mavericks recognized 10GB). On a whim I pulled the 4 GB chips and moved them to the 2 open slots on the top riser board and restarted. Bingo. The normal performance was restored and About this mac shows 10 GB. I don't know if the issue is Yosemite and the lower riser or if you have to fill one riser first (you didn't for Mavericks). Just posting for those who might be seeing some performance hits after installing.

PB2 is sooooo good so far. No crashes, wifi (specifiaclly 5ghz N) works as it should. only thing left is handoff.
as stated phone calls work, airdrop works. But handoff and instant hot spot isn't...

WiFi isn't working right for me at all. Cannot find my network when coming out of sleep. Have to turn WiFi off and back on in order for my network to show up.

Works pretty good for me except for a few minor glitches I had while doing the initial setup. Wifi wouldn't work for the first 10 minutes, etc. Now it seems like the only problem I'm having is this:

And its not really a big problem since my HD works as it should, but its just a minor annoyance.

I am having the exact same issue with the same programs and iMovie as well. Did you ever have any luck getting them to update?
my app store seems to be freezing up on updates. it sees app updates (keynote, pages and numbers) but its stuck on "waiting" and the pause button is greyed out. the download never commences. anyone else having this issue?

i was finally able to fix it. i went into activity monitor and quit the process called "storedownloadd" then relaunched the app store. all downloads/updates proceeded without an issue. i guess the process was stuck indefinitely.
