When will we see the, “wow Apple broke everything recently bug articles?” Duck the VP, fix AurPlay and everything else you broke.

What if your using your MacBook with a mouse and using the VP to extend your screen, will that work. I really want to use a mouse.

Looks like all of Apple's bluetooth devices along with other game controllers can be used.

Magic Trackpad only for pointing devices? That seems like a weird limitation. We’re in the weird phase where Apple really wants everyone to get used to their new input methods of choice before kludging together older approaches

Not really new, Jobs didn't allow them to put arrow keys on the original Mac's keyboard because he wanted to force users to use the mouse.

Forcing is deeply ingrained in the DNA of the ecosystem’s management of user behavior.
It’s very effected for producing desirable results that secure compliance in the ecosystem.
On the surface it’s very efficient and seemingly benevolent.
Brilliant, really.

your Mac must have macOS 14 Sonoma or later.

f you have a Mac with Apple silicon, it can appear in Apple Vision Pro at resolutions up to 4K. If your Mac has an Intel processor, it can appear at resolutions up to 3K.

All Made for iPhone Bluetooth controllers can connect to the Vision Pro, including Xbox and PlayStation controllers. Apple says that any controller that works with iPadOS will work with Vision Pro.

Are you saying this statement is incorrect?
It seems only one 4K screen can be virtualized with AVP, other (compatible!) apps can appear as separate windows. That won't work for me I'm afraid. I'm interested in the AVP but only if I can get at least 2 separate virtual 4K displays. The floating apps seem like a gimmick to me and a gamble: what's the chance my current and future favourite apps will support to be floated within AVP? I am looking for some extensive portable display solution, the AVP is promising on that matter but I might need to wait for AVP 2 at least. I use my MBP mainly for development and for IT/DPO management. Not for entertainment, nor gaming.

What's your point? That "barely any sold, so it's a flop" ... ?

Prepare to eat your words. This slower start was expected and exactly what Apple planned for.
I'm just saying..
like many on this forum, I know lots of apple fans with lots and lots of apple devices from phones, to watches, to ipads, to macbooks and airpods and speakers.. None and I do mean none, have any desire to buy one of these..

I'm sure the apple stores will be packed with people who want to see this, touch it, take selfies, maybe even book an appointment for a demo, but what % of those will actually slide their card and actually walk out with one?

Apples main strategy is to hook them in the ecosystem while their young, and in most cases, the young can't afford this item..

I do hope they learn from its pros and cons and make one more cost friendly in a few years to make it more appealing..

“The Vision Pro is not compatible with older Apple keyboards that use removable batteries.”

Wouldn’t want anyone using a device with great longevity that can easily have its batteries replaced now would we?
The problem is that those keyboards came out 20 years ago and use Bluetooth 2.0. The Magic Keyboard, which uses BT3.0, is supported so that seems to be the cutoff point. Since we are now at BT5, there are enough differences that I can see why BT2 might not have what it takes.

Dang, I guess I hung onto my removable battery Apple BT2 TKL keyboard (2009) for tooooo long. Guess I won’t be buying a Vision Pro now. 🫥

Apple did the right thing not making native controllers for the headset. That's what sets them apart from the others. Being able to use your eyes/hands is a huge deal. That said, the VP still has a lot of room for improvement so hand/eye control will only get better with future hardware/software updates.

I've owned many headsets and I hate native controllers. The future of headsets needs to be based on eye/hand/voice controls.

Attempting to use the few games that are in the App Store today, and I definitely feel the lack of native controllers . Would be great if I could use my questcontrollers . Hand tracking has no precision.
Which games(s)? Every one I’ve played so far uses eye tracking…

Well Vision Pro supposed to have its own controller just like other VR/AR devices for gaming which is the main source for VR/AR consumer market. Without it, it will be limited by mobile games.
After spending time with the AVP it’s beyond obvious this device is meant for more than just gaming. If you want an eye-console, get the quest. This thing is a computer.

It's another AR/VR and Do you use a computer without mouse and keyboard?

I totally disagree. What you are saying is using Mac without mouse and keyboard.

This one can be used with a keyboard and trackpad, but yes, no mice.
If Mac requires keyboard and mouse, AR/VR requires a hardware controller just like Xbox and PS with console controllers. Beside, eye tracking and gesture aren't great in terms of long period of uses and easy to get tired.

the idea of using a future version of this with a blue tooth mechanical keyboard to get work done? Kind of love it. I have no interest in this thing for at least two or three versions, but that's totally cool. This really is a preview of what's to come, and I appreciate all those who bought it while they get "good". Same way I felt waiting till the apple watch dropped their first SE version.
