I was at the local Apple Store today around 3:30 PM.

I just flat out asked the employee, “how many have sold so far since yesterday?”,

He said 2 yesterday and 3 so far today.

How on earth is a device that expensive not able to work with older Apple Bluetooth keyboards?

How about the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID. It is Bluetooth and afaik does not have removable batteries but on Apple it is not listed as supported where the regular one without Touch ID is.

Those “older” keyboards only had Bluetooth 2.0 and they came out 20 years ago. BT2.0 was very limited. If any of them are still working, that’s great, but maybe its time to get a newer keyboard?

That horrid Apple keyboard... when will we see it upgraded to something befitting of this millennium? Backlit black keys? USB-C?

I expect that they’ll switch to USB-C either this March or in October with some updated Mac. I’m not holding my breath for backlit keys, though. I’ll be happy as long as they don’t mess up the arrow keys again.

I'm not sure why they can't offer backlit keys, unlike everyone else? Does $150 or whatever they charge not cover the cost? 😅

Maybe backlights would require a bigger battery and they need to keep the keyboard light? 😆
