The iPhone 8 Plus is the best phone ever made

My proposition is this. The iPhone 8 Plus is the best phone ever made.

No stupid ugly notch.

16:9 aspect ratio, like all TV shows, all movies, and everything on YouTube.

Big screen. (Not as tall as X/Xs/Xs Max, but when you continuously scroll, you look at the top of the screen, not the bottom. Extra screen length is useless in vertical mode.)

LCD with no PWM. (Meaning no eye strain for those of us sensitive folks who use the phone in the dark for long periods and need to dim the screen below 50% to perhaps 10%.)

LCD on iPhone 8 Plus is as good as OLED. (Well that's my opinion. I put them side-by-side and I can't tell the difference. And if there is a difference, it's so slight that it makes no material difference.)

401 ppi. Perfect. (326 ppi on the XR is fuzzy and acceptable. "Liquid LCD" is a con by Apple. Put an iPhone 7 Plus next to an iPhone 7 and you'll see the difference. I'm not going back to iPhone 4 resolution.)

Great battery life. (Apparently in theory the XR will be better, but that may be because of the lousy screen.)

Home button. (Okay, not that important.)

Touch ID. (Works every time, in any light, no matter what my facial condition or angle is, such as bleary-eyed and sideways on a pillow in the morning. And Touch ID is super fast. Doesn't work when finger is wet, but that's no big deal for 99% of people 99% of the time.)

No intervening screen to swipe away after using Touch ID.

3D Touch. (Not on the XR. C'mon Apple, it's really useful for quick shortcuts into apps.)

Two cameras for 2X optical zoom. (Not on the XR.)

Battery percentage on the main screen. (Yes!)

Fast processor. (I compared the iPhone 8 Plus with the XS Max. Speed is the same except for a split second or a full second here or there, but nothing significant.)

No connectivity issues. (None, nada, zero, zilch.)

Price is not insane.

And finally bezels. (Yes bezels. Get the white version and you can see your phone on a dark background. I got the black bezels. Big mistake. I keep leaving my phone in the car because I can't see it, even with a white case.)

So I'm sticking with the best phone ever made. I love my iPhone 8 Plus.

TL;DR.

You are entitled to your opinion. So am I. Love the XS Max.

And yes Phil, darn u u right. When I see people with their iPhones and I notice the notch I think, oh cool, they have the x or xs. I see the people without and I know right away it’s a 6/7/8. It’s nice being able to differentiate in a subtle way.
Are the people with the 6/7/8 iPhones are less cool do you think, in a subtle way? The older iPhones are way more common at this point.

When people with phones that has thick bezels throw shade at the new phone bc of the notch, it’s because they haven’t tried the phone with the notch yet.

My closest friend owns an X, and hates the notch since he got the phone about a year ago.
It doesn't bother me when I test phones with it, but it does bug some people.

Absolutely! Because I always check to see what model of iPhone a person is carrying before I’ll hang out with them. Styling with an XS or Max? Let’s chat! If they have a 6-8, then I’ll be their friend as long as they buy dinner. If it’s a Droid, you can just forget it!

Make sure you order some Brawndo with dinner. It's got electrolytes!

Best phone ever made? One contender has to be the old Motorola Razr. Nice and small. Blackberry Curve was even better--texting with a great keyboard plus nice and tiny.

All the Apple phones--yuck. Essentially yuck. They remind me of Microsoft Word: Examples of how the best products don't always win.
And yet like a bad rash here you are, every release, with a new iPhone. Complaints and all. Unbelievable.

Voted I disagree. Big bezels and Touch ID was cool back when the iPhone 6 Plus was out.

A bit stale now, and Face ID is far superior.

That’s my personal feelings once I experienced Face ID. Touch ID still great and I think it’s still a very important part to biometric security, but it’s not Apples future anymore. Both biometric options have their drawbacks and exceptions where they excel, but Face ID is proving overtime to be completely reliable and secure. This is only the start for Face ID where the improvements can continually be made in the future.

No. Not less cool. It’s just a way to tell between the two. Some of my best friends have older gen of iPhone or *gasp* pixel.

Differentiate people on phones? You’re taking this way too far.

Lol, I’m taking this too far? I wasn’t even aware of “taking it anywhere”. How you interpret it is telling. I was simply saying you can tell when someone has an x, or now x/xs

I honestly forgot about it after a few days. My vision is focused on the main middle of the screen. Not on the top. I think when I move it to horizontal view it would bug me but nope, it’s a black bar to keep the 16:9 ratio.

Yeah, that's exactly how I feel, but I can't try to convince anyone of otherwise lol.
I tried the Max tonight at an Apple Store, and didn't even think about the notch at all.

This is how I feel when people mention the ‘huge’ forehead and chin on the 8+. It’s complete exaggerated twaddle as when you’re using the device the focus is on the screen not the bezel anyway.

Exaggerated maybe the deal is you just get use to it, but do you really not see bezel. I am older and my vision is far from perfect, but I am not freaking blind! Especially if you have one of the models with those big white bezels! It's more than when you are using it the phone it's every time you look at it period. But hey the good news is everyone gets to pick the one they want. But I think it's hard to compare that notch that blends into the screen with those big bezels from the previous model, but that is me!

I’m a long time iPhone user now so I guess I am used to it and don’t concentrate on bezels. I see a lot here have become bezel obsessed in the last 12 months but my iPhone is a tool firstly and the content on the screen is more my focus than the 15mm black strips top and bottom.

People are obsessing over those bezels. I like the vintage Apple look with bezels and HB, but otoh wouldn't actually miss them. Just like I wouldn't miss the notch (at all). I'm kind of neutral.

Most appreciate more content on screen within the same form factor. It's more about a balance of an ergonomic device in hand whilst delivering more content on screen.

People are dismissing bezels now after seeing how screen-efficient & practical the X/XS are compared to the prior generation of iPhones.

So I used my wife’s X some this morning and was definitely annoyed by the color-shift. I’ve always assumed it wasn’t that bad but it was literally several significant shades from holding it at an angle and just reading it off or a table. I actually prefer a warm screen but the change was distracting.

I’m sure I would appreciate it too if I were interested in paying £1k+ for a phone lol. Seriously though I’m happy with the screen size of the 8+ so it’s kind of irrelevant to me at this point. I’m not one to dwell on a feature and let it annoy me and the 8+ is a really nice phone to use so it’s all good.
