My g4 cube still is and probably will be for a fair while, it's pretty and it does for most things.

I waited years to get my MacPro. Now it's on its second year and the only thing I need is more HD. I originally put in 4x500 and now that SATA 1TB are now getting cheap, soon I will have 4TB machine. I find my 2.6 quad processors, 5GB ram good enough for anything I throw at it. I went from a 20" monitor to using a 27" HDTV which I don't think I will need to change for a long time. For 'on-the-go' I have my black Macbook.

I would go to the apple online store and click on Mac Pro.

Then max out everything and get all the most expensive options.

I am going to do this some time in my life.

But Neo office is so slow (probably not on that machine)
And do not understand me wrong, i'm not going to buy this.

You kind of missed my joke... my suggestion to bring costs down to a "more reasonable" price point was to subtract the $79 iWork from a $19,590 machine. The newer, "reasonable" price then being $19,511. :)

That would be kind of silly. Some things are better installed on your own for one, like RAM. And a lot of other upgrades aren't really cost effective in my opinion, that is to say they provide very little bang for a lot of additional buck. Plus, you'll be really bummed when intel comes out with a better machine in 3 months.

Doesnt matter what Intel does.

Apple is at the head of this train and they're never in any rush.

My new Mac Pro is pretty close to my dream machine. I posted a picture in the setups thread here

2.8ghz Octo
10gb ram
3*750gb Samsung F1 + the stock 320gb Barracuda +OWC 1TB external for time machine
8800gt
HP LP3065
MX Revolution

Once I get a decent desk and hook it up to all of my audio equipment I'll be almost to a "dream" setup. Although another LP3065 wouldn't a bad thing.

Yes the turntable is STORED on top of the SubWoofer, it's not hooked up @ this point.
The subwoofer is only temporarily on the filing cabinet as I anm trying to figure out the best location for it.

I believe my dream setup would be similar to this:

Five 30" ACDs on his desk, and 12 30" Dells on the wall. Of course he's running Windows on everything, which is lame...I'd have to have the uber Mac-Pro at the desk.

That guy's wall display is completely impractical.

My dream setup would probably be another 30" (2x30") and a decked out Xserve Raid.

This is a quick sketch

Basically a smartphone as the "CPU/RAM/HDD" and you use as a phone, then you can dock it into a hub that has a monitor and kb/mouse.

I did think of BT, but I would rather have the battery-free wired ones :p

EDIT: Maybe not the CPU, depending on how scalable future CPUs are... but this would be really functional only if it were popular where every library/house/restaurant would have this thus eliminating the need to bring a laptop anywhere.

I don't want to be raped :(
I'm almost there; my blackbook is waiting for me at home. (2.4 2GB of ram 250GB HD)

This summer if I sell my iMac I will be getting a 24" 2.4ghz Peryn iMac with 4GB of ram and a 250GB HD, or I will just bump up my current iMac to 4GB.

They look like they would be in perfect harmony with each other :)

I've yet to see someone with this setup but it'd be a maxed out Mac Pro powering 8-30" ACDs

What does someone actually do with such an arrangement?
I have 1 ACD 30" and it's a monster! I can see the practicability of 2, Maybe 3 for Final Cut Pro or Locic Pro. What do you do with 8 of them, besides spend a lot of money.
