4s-5s-SE 2016(broken)-8-11(warranty)-12 mini

I got the 4s from my aunt because my windows phone didn’t support useful apps any longer.
Fell in love with the iPhone.
The 6 was already released at that time.
Got the 5s quickly after that.

I loved the form factor but it was getting a bit slow and the 16gb storage was a drag. Bought the SE through my carrier, but it fell into a thousand pieces in public transport.

Rocked the 8 for 2,5 years, upgraded to the 11 on a good deal. Speaker broke down and Amazon gave me a full refund. Use the 12 mini for more than a year now.

Planning to use this for another year or 2 (or longer after battery replacement in the future) hoping that the SE has the mini form factor by that time.

4 - Black
5 - Black
6 - Silver
6s Plus - Rose Gold
7 Plus - Matte Black
X - Silver
XS Max - Gold
11 Pro Max - Midnight Green
12 Pro Max - Pacific Blue
13 Pro Max - Sierra Blue
14 Pro Max - Deep Purple

Favourite would be the 7 Plus and the 11 Pro Max. Really miss that midnight green on the 11 PM!

The 5S model broke twice and then I gave up on that model and switched to 6S. All have been the smallest model, now on 12 mini.

3GS White 32 Gb (2010-2012, when motherboard collapsed)
4S White 64 Gb (2012-2014, when I can switch for a low budget instead of change battery)
5s White-Silver 16 Gb (2014-2016, when battery died)
6 White 16 Gb (2016-03-17~2016-03-30, only for waiting the SE)
SE White-Silver 64 Gb (2016-2022, changed 7 in warranty until iOS kills 3 battery in 15 months)
13 mini Rose 512 Gb (2022-I believe the last iPhone until company go on like today with tricks and bugs).
Every one excepts the 3GS that is here for parts still running, used by family members.

Most loved? The white front case 4S, with the best project for an iPhone. Then the 3GS also with 3rd part white front, loved the rear curve on hand.

I tend to upgrade each two years or so, as you can see:
iPhone 5S
iPhone 6S
iPhone X
iPhone 12 PM
iPhone 14 PM

The most compelling upgrade was definitely from the 6S to the X, it was a pretty big jump. I loved the design of the 12 PM, but otherwise I felt it was the most incremental upgrade of all the iPhones I owned. 14 PM is still incremental, but with Promotion, Dynamic Island, Always-On Display and a bigger battery, I see a more noticeable difference in day-to-day use than X to 12 PM

I went back and forth a few of the years. I enjoy the screen and battery of the Plus/Max, but much prefer the ergonomics of the regular size. Had a launch day 14 Pro, but switched to Max a week later. Battery life just wasn’t good enough.

It's funny, I was hardcore Android and said I'd die before switching to Apple... I had a wild hair and got the 11, now I kick myself for waiting so long, never going back. Apple's ecosystem can't be beat!

iPhone 1:
Still have it still powers up.(last time I checked) my Series 0 AW won’t even power up. Waited in front of a AT&T Store with maybe 40 other people. Someone took it upon themselves to write and hand out numbers. It was a happening. Activating via iTunes was interesting. The longer you waited the longer it was going to take.
People would crowd around just to look at it and see the then magic.

July or August of 2007 Apple dropped the price $100 for Xmas sales. Everyone who bought it in June freaked out. We took to the Apple support web page complaining and crashed the site. Steve Jobs announced that everyone that bought it in June would get a $100 Apple gift card. I bought a keyboard for my Mac. I think it was wireless.

iPhone 3GS:
Returned and got a new one for a bad speaker. I skipped the iPhone 4 because I didn’t like the design. I loved the curved design of the 3 series. During the 4 cycle I went Blackberry and then Android HTC Evo 3D the worse phone ever. During this time I got a iPad 2 which brought me back to iOS and the 4S.

iPhone 4S No issues

iPhone 5S No issues

iPhone 6Plus No issues never bent. Kept it for 3 years even after getting the 7 Plus. Eventually sent in for recycling. Sad thing was the day I got it delivered my mom passed away. 11/11/14. L

iPhone 7 Plus No issues

iPhones XS Max No issues. Had a hard time getting it. I preordered and received tracking but never received the phone. Sprint gave me the runaround. I pulled a Karen and asked for the manager who gave me the runaround. I ended up emailing the SVP of Sprint Customer service and CC’d every company executive. 20 minutes after sending the email I got a call from customer service and they overnighted a XS Max to me.

iPhone 11 Pro Max No issues. Loved the Midnight Green

iPhone 12 Pro Max No issues Loved the Pacific Blue

iPhone 14 Pro Max No issues. Got Space Black but kind of sorta wished I got Purple. It’s all good though I’m more than satisfied with it. Enjoying it immensely iOS 16 bugs and all. Every iOS has had bugs and every iOS going forward will have bugs. It’s part of game. I like the Dynamic Island. It’s a enjoyable feature to me. I’m not tripping about it.

Through all of these phones I never cracked a screen or a glass back.
The aluminum back of the iPhone is pretty scuffed up though.
Sorry to hear about your mom. And I LOLed when I read "Pulled a Karen".

My journey is short but sweet:

iPhone SE (2016) in early 2017
iPhone 8 Plus March 2018 until March 2022
iPhone 13 March 2022 til present

Iphone 3G
Iphone 3GS
Iphone 4S
Iphone 5s
Iphone 6s plus
Iphone 7 plus
Iphone x
Iphone xs
Iphone 11 pro
Iphone 13 pro

Original iPhone
iPhone 3GS
(Lumia 900)
(Nexus 4)
(Samsung Galaxy S4)
iPhone 6
iPhone XS
Pixel 3a (for a year or so)

These were my daily drivers. Here's the "iPhone killers" I've collected along the way and used for at least a month:
Palm Pre 2
HP Pre 3
HTC First (the Facebook phone)
Lumia 920
BlackBerry Z10

Still have a Surface Duo and an Amazon Fire Phone waiting to test drive. I've tried the iPhone 13 mini, but just can't get into it. I love the size, but the wonky down-scaling just makes everything a bit too small. The zoom options make everything too big or disproportionate.

Mine is spectacularly unexciting:
  • iPhone 3GS - June 2009
  • iPhone 4 - July 2010
  • iPhone 4S - October 2011
  • iPhone 5 - September 2012
  • iPhone 5S - September 2013
  • iPhone 6 - September 2014
  • iPhone 6S Plus - September 2015
  • iPhone X - November 2017
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max - September 2019
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max - September 2021
Am I going to upgrade to a 15 Pro Max in September next year? Signs point to yes.

  1. iPhone 3G. I felt like I was in the future, coming from some traditional Nokia phone.
  2. iPhone 4. For that sweet retina display! I was "holding it wrong" so had to get a bumper case for it tho.
  3. Galaxy S4 because the iPhone 6-8 series was garbage with large physical size vs screen size.
  4. Oneplus 3 again because the iPhone 6-8 that ran for years was not to my liking.
  5. iPhone XS because Android phones started to be available only in gargantuan 16:9 6.5" sizes.
  6. iPhone 12 Mini to make for just a bit more one handed friendly operation.
  7. Samsung Galaxy Fold 4. The discontinuation of Swiftkey on iOS put a big spanner in the works of writing in my native language and the Fold 4, despite being thick and heavy, is quite narrow when folded so the experience is similar to typing on the Mini and when unfolded...well, let's just say that I don't think I will get a new iPad anytime soon.
At this point only way Apple will get me back on their phone is releasing a foldable of their own. Then I will have to evaluate how much of the user experience I have on the Fold I would be giving up because its got a lot of things going on that I like.

I was a huge fan of Nokia phones until the last Symbian Belle OS or whatever it was called, being the N8 with a stellar Carl Zeiss 12 Mpx and xenon flash camera my last Nokia phone. After that I jumped on the iPhone train.

- iPhone 4S 16GB (2011-2012)
- iPhone 5 16GB (2012-2013)
- iPhone 5S 16GB (2013-2014)
- iPhone 6 16GB (2015-2016)
- iPhone 7 128GB (2016-2019) the pick of the larger memory + the slight difference to the iPhone 8 didn’t make me want to upgrade.
- iPhone XS 256GB (2019-2022)
- iPhone 14 Pro 256GB hopefully this will last 4+ years
