So, just to be clear, all the improvements to the system, security, new features, AR, file system access, and UI changes were not enough for you, but had they added Dark Mode you would have updated?
If he is using A7 iPad, then most new features are not available. He has good reason to not update.

Has anyone been hands on with the drag and drop feature and Google Drive?

I'm curious to know if drag and drop works seamlessly with third party cloud apps such as Google Drive?

Are you sure the apps are split screen capable? Try it a few times with Apple Mail and Safari and see if that works reliably.

Ah so just Apple apps are able to do the split screen drag? Will third party apps be able to update this functionality?

No, any app that the dev has made compatible with split view/slide over for iOS 10 can do it. I was just suggesting testing a known quantity (two apps we know can do it) to see if it’s the gesture in general you’re having issues with, or the particular apps you’re trying to do it with.

Similar to when Apple announced SplitView & SlideOver with iOS 9... 3rd party apps soon released their apps when iOS 9 officially was out.

So, coming fall... devs will release apps supporting drag & drop. Until then only Apple apps has this feature.

Another bug fix update? Planned Obsolescence? Not even close. Apple did A good job with iOS 11 with both the iPhone and iPad.

Because the way I see it, there was loads of content revamped that looks promising contrary to what you say :
  1. Revamped Siri
  2. All new files application
  3. Apple Pay transfer money
  4. Camera has been updated to HVEC
  5. New App Store
  6. Updated Apple Maps
  7. Do Not Disturb Driving Mode
  8. Redesigned Control Center
  9. Screen recording
  10. New Keyboard
  11. Wifi sharing
  12. Home Kit update
  13. AR Kit

Don’t forget all new Disney characters on your watch! That alone is going to revolutionize the industry!!!
