All the F****** red.

I avoid youtube app and see videos on web browser. That color and design made me change the way I watch videos.

I change my mind.

The space management is atrocious and the new design doesn't compensate for it.

Oh well. I can't downgrade now.

How did you do that?

By deleting youtube on my iPad and syncing the non updated version from my Mac :)

Another thing.... didn't you used to be able to exit youtube and continue playing a video in the background??? Or was that last doable in the iOS 5 youtube app?

Either way the lack drives me crazy.

I HATE this new design. Can't add anything up to that.

Aside from that, there's still no support for picture-in-picture. That's just not acceptable from a company such as Google...

The icon, however, is yuck. I hate it.

Oh thanks for the warning, indeed it's awful. I always disable auto-update on my devices so I still have the old icon. However for some reasons I have the new material design inside the app. Maybe this new design was already hidden inside the older versions.

The icon has changed but the app looks the same.
Updating the app seems to trigger a server side switch that activates the new UI independent of the actual App Store update. Try 'closing' the app in multi-tasking and power cycling your device.

Got it. It's changed. How weird !

the web version has this redesign now though also...

That means your going to have to keep auto updates off from now on.

Never said it was easy, but it's still possible. On iOS, it isn't possible to change the OS appearance or downgrade to an earlier version of the OS or of any application.

Well you can go back if you have a back up of the older version. Just delete the app on your device and then hook up to iTunes and install the YouTube app and sync. The older version will be back. :D

While the red is really ugly, it would have been at least tolerable if it wasn't taking up such a massive amount of space on the top. It could easily be half the height and still have all the buttons and such.

Redesign doesn't bother me, what does is that there is no support for Picture in Picture -_-

I have one that does, but I don't like it as much as the normal one :/

I agree it would be very nice to see Slide Over / Split Screen and Picture in Picture support from YouTube (and Netflix). For now we have YouPlayer (free, with 1,99 dollar in-app option) and ProTube (2,99 dollar).

I just started using Tubex. Its a much, much better app. Background audio FTW! After I updated YT no videos would play at all for me. This was after 2 installs and reboots. The YT app is terrible "/

Correct me if I'm wrong, but YouTube for Android had this interface for more than a year? I don't mind the new look/interface, but the red bar at the top on iOS seems very thick compared to Android:

Furthermore, YouTube for iOS displays "watched" videos while Android YouTube somehow doesn't...
