YouTube Premium subscribers will soon have access to SharePlay and an enhanced 1080p video quality option with a higher bitrate on the iPhone. In a blog post today, YouTube said both features will be available in its iOS app "in the coming weeks."

SharePlay will let you watch YouTube videos with friends and family while on a FaceTime call together, while the enhanced 1080p option will make videos look "extra crisp and clear," especially when there is a lot of detail and motion, according to YouTube. The standard 1080p video quality option will remain available to all YouTube users.

Other perks available to YouTube Premium subscribers starting today include an option to queue videos in the iOS and Android app, the ability to continue watching a video where you left off when switching devices, and an option to have recommended videos automatically downloaded while on Wi-Fi for offline viewing at a later time.

YouTube Premium costs $11.99 per month in the U.S. and provides ad-free video playback, the ability to play videos while using other apps or while a device's screen is locked, an option to download videos for offline playback, and more.

Shareplay - dont you need friends for that? Looks like I cant use it then

YT Premium costs 11,99eur per month where i live. A couple of months ago i subscribed to premium on youtube Turkey through a VPN. First 2 months i paid not even 1€ each time! After that, youtube increased the prices in Turkey so i started paying around 1,6€ a month. That's still totally worth it in my opinion. Very happy with the service so far 😄

I think you can save lots of money by downloading Adblocker. This one is really good. Skips all ads instantly.

I mainly watch on my iPad and iPhone, and unfortunately adblockers no longer seem to work.

As to the $11.99 monthly fee, it's hard to fathom how much time I would have been wasting had I kept watching ads.

AirPlay the videos from Mac to Apple TV? 🤷‍♂️
The convenience of of having the actual YouTube interface directly on your tv screen, for you to interact directly with, is quite significant. With the new Apple TV remote the navigation within the Apple TV YouTube App actually becomes a much better experience than what AirPlay by itself can offer. It’s a timesaver. No hassle.

I subscribe to Youtube Premium because I listen to videos while I’m driving and the constant ads became unbearable. Just no ads makes this worthwhile. Also, I can have my maps app open and youtube in the background playing. Not sure if that is now availalbe to free users.
Probably not on the last part. However, prior to being on Premium, I would have maps up on my car's screen via Android Aut, and playing YouTube videos with the app open on my phone, so that approach lets you have it both ways.
