The one app I cannot do without in the moment. All others are either Apple apps or could work through browser. But I need Zoom. Will it work on M1?

I don't see why it wouldn't? All Intel apps will work on M1. But I assume that Zoom will release a native ARM version soon enough.

This is a very serious question. For a lot of people these days, Zoom is the most critical App. Zoom is not like most other apps - it has very very deep driver integration with the OS - which is why it crashes so much on Macs. And the remove the background feature will only appear if Zoom thinks it's running on certain processors. So unless someone can report first hand that this works, I would not assume it.

And as other users have pointed out, the iOS version is so limited in its feature set that it can't be considered a replacement. It's really just for when all you need to do is watch a speaker.

it’s literally on the product page for the macbook air ... yes it will work
I agree, it's encouraging to see an image of a Zoom chat on the product page. But there's no evidence of background removal, the version of Zoom running (could be iOS), or even if that's real at all or just a screen mockup, as is typically done in Apple marketing. There's zero information on the Zoom website about any proposed compatibility with ARM macs, although I've reached out to their tech support for a comment. You would think that if they were anywhere close to Mac AS support, they'd gain a lot of publicity by saying so.

The good news is that almost anyone with a new AS Mac is bound to try Zoom, so hopefully we can get confirmation soon one way or another.

I'm sure Zoom will eventually provide some Mac AS support. My fear is that they'll hand this over to the iOS team instead of the MacOS team, which will mean the MacAS version will be built on the iOS code instead of the MacOS code. But if they finally enhance the iOS version to the level of the MacOS product, then it's moot.

WooHoo! I just heard back from Zoom tech support! They are targeting December 20th for the first version of Zoom that will work on the M1. No details on what version of Zoom this will be based on, but it's great to see.
Excellent! In the meantime it will work through Rosetta, right? Anyone here who can check on this already with their machines?

Great news. Many thanks for testing. Will be interesting if the camera quality on my LG5k connected to the M1 Mini (on order) will also be (even) better.

Definitely works using Rosetta. FaceTime camera picture quality is noticeably better also.
Ooooh, controversial!! ?

I know Apple said they’ve managed to improve the picture quality through software, but that’s been torn to pieces on here so it will be interesting to see the pictures & reviews.
