This question has been posted twice with no answer definite answer. I would like to add additional elements to the question

Would anyone comment on the following scenario:
- Virtual background without a green screen
- Share a PowerPoint/Keynote/Prezi presentation with videos, sound, and other multimedia elements
- while hosting a Zoom meeting with 100 to 999 participants

That's my current set up. I do virtual tours using Google Earth, Google Arts & Culture, and other tools.
I just imagine someone posting this 10 years ago. Amazing what can be done virtually these days. :)

Yes Zoom (intel version) works with a Mac mini M1 (16GB, 2TB) and a MacBook Air M1 (16GB, 1TB). Runs well. But my set up is simple, no virtual back, no powerpoint sharing, with around 20 people.

On MacBook Pro Intel I used to drop. to around 33% battery after a two hour session. With the MacBook Air M1, after two hours, it drop to only 75%. So the battery life of zoom is great.

I have spent 3 or 4 hours on Zoom on battery with plenty to spare. I tend to go all day on my MBPro without plugging in and usually 25% + left, often 50+. This includes lots of Zooming.
I never worry about screen brightness or any of that type of thing. All the major apps are always loaded.

got a nice zoom crash today, seems like the wifi randomly cut out and came back
Zoom seems to be dropping out lately on my M1 MBP. At the same time, no website will load. First week I got it, everything was fine. Then it got more and more frequent. Now I use my Wifi 6 windows desktop which I've been using past 6 months, as it's too unreliable with MBP. But, I can sit here and watch 4K videos all day on the MBP without issues. Not sure how to fix this issue as I got this MBP for my work which involves Zoom calls almost daily!

Crazy.

ethernet or wifi?
Always WiFi.

I taught 400 student on Friday by setting up the Air on the whiteboard in my office and did maths for an hour.

Also recorded to the cloud and it was fine.

Only pixelation due to compression on Panopto.

Have messages coming in from 400 students fine as well.

Nice session on the whole and no technical issues.

Honestly, I do 8h of Zoom some days on a single charge with no issues. Not even a full charge more like 75%.

I know this doesn't mean that you're not having problems. I just don't want anyone to avoid the machine based on one data point.

Thx for your feedback.

Also doing a lot of Zoom during the week. Problems just appeared while using M1 inside the same environment like my old MBP 2013.
MBP 2013 without any issues (a lot of fan noise of course), MBA M1 (1TB 16GB) always having issues.

For Zoom I always use plugged in as I have to connect to an external display. Lots of people having issues with external displays. I do have intermittent blackouts for 2 seconds once a day so not bad. Maybe issues with Wifi when connected to external display? Do you use 2.4G or 5G Wifi?

I don't even bring a charger to the office.

Machine will easily do 8 hours of zoom and 2 to 3 of other bits so I don't see a reason to charge it at work.

I can't comment of the external display.

I simply run an iMac and a M1MBA as separate machines on my desk.

I use the standard eduroam at the uni for staff.

Works fine on the M1. I use it every day.
I have a mbp m1 and zoom works, but NOT virtual backgrounds. Green screen also gets stuck if you check it. You have to reinstall it to get the checkbox cleared. I would say it is a mess for zoom if you need any virtual backgrounds or video backgrounds. I have used it for 5-6 hours of zoom a day with 40% battery left, but no virtual background. Screen sharing also works just fine on mine.

My MBP is 16GB and 2TB M1 if that matters

I use virtual backgrounds on occasionally but haven't had nay issues. I usually don't though as my office in the city is awesome as is the view.

WooHoo! I just heard back from Zoom tech support! They are targeting December 20th for the first version of Zoom that will work on the M1. No details on what version of Zoom this will be based on, but it's great to see.
This is a Great News. I have Recently Buy M1 and Unpacked From it. So Today I Have Installed Zoom On It and it is working. I am Enjoying My Live Class and Meetings Thanks.

Used my MBP M1 16/512 for many zoom sessions so far. Still no issues, with screen sharing, recording or virtual background.

Need help!!
Screen sharing on Zoom with MacBook Pro M1 chip does not work. Other participants only see a full black screen. I have already enabled all privacy settings and screen sharing allowances in System Preferences, but I cannot get it to work!

How to solve???
