I know this is a (quite) frequently asked subject but I considered that my question was not answered on previous threads (which I searched through the Forum search function) so I'm hoping you guys can help me out.
Here's my set of questions:
1) When replacing my MBP13 (mid-2012) Superdrive in...
Hey all. So, about a year ago, I was just a month or so into deployment when my 2013 13" MacBook Pro crashed. It had been sitting in a dry, cool room and never moved, so I'm 100% certain it was not physically damaged; it just crapped out in the middle of watching a movie. That hard drive was...
Hey guys,
I've just been wondering if there's any possibility to boot MacOS from an external SSD and installing Windows 10 on an internal HDD?
I have an iMac late 2013 with internal 1TB HDD. I bought an external 240GB SSD from which I am booting MacOS atm. Everything works fine but now I have...
My 5,1 Mac Pro only came with one hard drive sled which was fine for a while, but I'm looking to add additional drives. 3,1; 2,1; 1,1 HDD sleds seem to be easier to find and cheaper. Would they fit in my 5,1? They look similar but I'm not sure.
My macbook pro 17 inch mid 2010 had been warning me that my battery needed replacing for a while (maybe a year or more). Last weekend it wouldn't start up... no sign of life. I assumed the battery was to the culprit but when I checked, the power supply was plugged in and switched on. It would...
I am using an external HDD (1TB WD Elements) with my MacBook Pro 2016 15" with TouchBar.
This was no problem in the past.
Yesterday I updated to 10.12.3. When I now attach the external HDD (using Apple's official USB adapter), the whole system crashes. It either restarts automatically or I need...
Can I change my USB HDD formatted in hfs+ (mac os x journaled) in windows compatible formats? Like Exfat for istance?
Without formatting hdd and losing the datas inside?
Hi there!
I was wondering about changing the HDD to an SSD on a mid 2009 Macbook. Upon a few searches, I can't find anyone doing it on a Macbook, only on pros?
Also is there any restraints on which SSD to go with?
Thanks
Hey everyone, first time posting
I have mid 2012 macbook pro with a 500 GB hdd, I need more space and I want to run the os on a ssd to make it faster and smoother. I have a 120 GB ssd and I want to install it in the place of the optical drive (so i will have both hdd and ssd inside the...
Hi,
I've switched out my optical drive in my late 2011 mbp and had a 1tb hdd in there (with a SSD in the main drive bay).
However, i'd like to replace the 1TB hdd drive in the optical now with a 2,3 or 4TB HDD.
Is this possible?
Thanks for any help and advice :)

Hello everyone,
I want to upgrade my MacBook Pro mid 2012 using 5400 rpm hard drive to an SSD and buy an optibay for the current hard drive, and also upgrade it's RAM, but I don't have much experience in hardware and have a few things still unclear:
1. Do optibays have SATA 2 and SATA 3...
Hi everyone,
So a few days ago bought a 2011 27in IMac I7 2600 off a buddy of mine that his work threw out. I installed OS Sierra and it works fine as if nothing is wrong. Disk Utility reports no issues (never trusted Disk Utility) so I downloaded DriveDX and it reported that over 90...
I have a BTO iMac 27" from late 2013. A few months ago I realised that it would always seem to crash and restart itself whenever I put it to sleep for periods longer than a few hours (I have since been told that this behaviour is inherent to a failing hard drive). And then two weeks ago, when I...
I'm using a 2TB Samsung (Model: HD204UI) 3.5 inch hard drive in a Sharkoon QuickPort Duo USB 3 dock, and most of the time it works fine, it's fast, no problems. I use it to back up another external drive with a little app called Backup Buddy, so it's not the end of the world if it dies. I just...
The 2TB HDD in my 2011 iMac has been spinning for 5 years now and I am very aware that the chances of failure are increasing.
Since some months I am booting from an external SSD via Thunderbolt which works great. The HDD was 99% filled with pictures in Aperture libraries (which were back up-ed...

Hope someone can shed some light on this. My MBP Mid 2011 HDD cable has failed for the third time. First time, I replaced it by getting one from iFixIt. It worked fine for about 9 months and failed again. iFixIt replaced it free under warranty. The third one has now failed. I know it's the...

But i have a question. I want the Imac basically for video editing. But I'm not sure which is the best storage option.
My budget options are 512SSD (+usb3 externas HDD, like Western...
Hi everyone. So I have an iMac (27-inch, Late 2009), 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I'm currently updated to OS X El Capitan 10.11.5.
