My 2011 Macbook Pro running El Capitan was running fine until recently when it suddenly decided to stop booting after getting a new charger which I assume was sketchy (refurbished apple from ebay). I believe that my fusion drive has split back into the original hdd and ssd and now I can't boot...
Hello all,
FACTS:
I am trying to clone an external volume (located on a USB 3,5" 500GB HDD SATA drive) to an internal SSD flash drive of my A1398 15" Macbook Pro (mid-2014, 2.8 GHz i7, dedicated graphics). The problem that I am getting is that once booted from the external volume (a CCC clone...
I bought a 2010 Mac Pro to replace my dying 2006 Mac Pro. However, I've never considered using a drive exclusively as the boot drive, and all the other drives as storage.
Since I already have many TBs of HDD storage, and my new Mac includes a SSD, it's a no-brainer. But how do I do it?
Hi folks.
Just ordered the above Mac Pro (12 core for only £700)...so I'm happy with that to replace my core 2 due iMac.
The question is around the main SSD. In my iMac I'm running a 1TB SanDisk Sata 3 SSD. The Mac Pro has 1 TB of spinning goodness I believe (SATA) along with a 2TB secondary...
Hi,
I currently have a mid 2012 13inch mac book pro, 2.5ghx core i5, 16gb (upgraded from 8gb) and 750GB hard drive internal. When I bought this it was around £1300, many years ago.
Id like to buy a new laptop, I mainly do game development so I need something with some punch but I'm so out of...
I found a somewhat local iMac 27" for sale, price is decent, and I don't quite understand the Fusion Drive stuff. Haven't seen this unit yet, but the specs are a little confusing:
macOS Mojave
Version 10.14.1
iMac (27-inch, late 2012
Processor 2.9GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3...
Hey there,
So I have a Macbook Pro 10,1 750gb SSD and I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a adapter for the SSD slot in a Macbook 12,1? I can't seem to find what the ssd connector specs are and I well and truly confused.
Thanks for reading and let me know what you all think.
Hello!
I have MacMini Late 2014 with HDD drive with El Capitan.
I bought SSD Samsung Evo 970 M2 and NGFF Adapter.
I have added patch-nvme by RehabMan. After that Mac showed my SSD.
I tried to erase it with DiskUtility, but had an error:
diskutil eraseDisk JHFS+ UntitledUFS /dev/disk0

Hello. I have a Late 2013 2.7 GHz iMac that is stock (1tb HD, 8gb RAM) that is staring down the barrel of a 16gb RAM and SSD upgrade.
Looks like the reliable source for the RAM is OWC. (link: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/1600DDR3I16P/)
However, with the SSD, the price difference...
Hi all,
Having some issues upgrading the SSD in a Macbook. I'm at the point where I think I have a dodgy adapter but would love some of your thoughts!
Macbook Pro 13" Early 2015 (a1502)
Macbookpro12,1
I'm using this adapter from eBay, and a Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD.
I updated to Mojave...
I just upgraded my MacPro 3,1 with a Samsung 860 EVO SSD 1TB. I am running High Sierra. I formated the SDD using HFS+ and then cloned it from my old hard drive using Disk Utility. I did turn on TRIM. I have turned on FileVault and has finished encrypting the drive. The EVO is installed in a...

Hello dear users!
BEWARE this post is long-ish..
I decided to step up my music production game and I am slowly planning on selling my good ol' Tower Mac Pro 2008. I recently bought an iMac 2015 that was on sale locally on Gumtree. Beautiful machine with 64GB Ram, i7 processor, 2tb fusion...
On an iMac with 2 drives (HD and SSD) and two OS's on each drive, i want to know if it is possible to hide the applications that are used in each OS?
The iMac, can boot in either the HD or the SSD (ElCapitan and Yosemite) but i dont want each user to know what applications are installed and used...
Hi,
My 2011 iMac's hard drive has gotten so slow it's basically unusable. I have a 512 GB WD MyPassport SSD and have successfully used it to boot up the iMac and am running on it now. The external SSD uses a USB C port, but it came with a USB A adapter as well.
This is where I have an issue...
It's a pretty common issue to have slow boot times now with external ssds connected with USB 3 or USB-C, but does this problem still exist with TB3 NVMe external drives (such as a Samsung X5)?
I was under the (mis?)impression that under Mojave, TRIM was supported for external SSDs connected via Thunderbolt.
I have a 2015 27" iMac running 10.14.3, with a Thunderbolt 2 enclosure with a Samsung 850 EVO SSD. System report says that TRIM is NOT supported.
Is there something I need to do...
Hi everyone, new user here from Italy.
I was wondering which SSD I should use for my MacBook Pro 15 mid 2014.
I'm currently using the original 250GB, but I would like to replace it with a bigger one because in the future I need to install in parallel Windows 10 using bootcamp.
I would like to...
