I'm on the lookout for fast external storage for my 2018 Mac Mini and/or Late-2017 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.
I was originally looking at ready-to-buy external storage such as the SanDisk Extreme 900 Portable SSD 1.92TB or the Samsung X5 Portable SSD MU-PB2T0B 2TB, but the prices are very high...

I have a refurbished 2012 Mac mini 2.3 GHz Quad-core i7 with upgraded 16 GB DDR3 Crucial memory and a stock 1 TB HDD.
I’ve been meaning to upgrade the HDD but never got to it. Realized last week that SSDs may be on sale now so trying to figure out how best to do this. I’ve read through some...
Hi everyone,
It's been ages since I've bought a new Mac, in-fact I'm currently only running an old Mac Mini that is starting to show its age.
My question to you, is whether anyone is running a new 2018 Mini from an external SSD. I can't justify Apple prices when I can get a good quality 2TB...
Apple mailed me that I have to service my MacBook Pro 2017 13 inch no TouchBar
An ssd firmware update needs to be applied in order to prevent possible data loss
As I live hundreds of miles away from the closest authorized service can someone who has already done the update give me the version...
Hello all! First, I would like to thank anyone who can assist! I have looked through many, many posts trying to find a fix and would be very grateful if someone has a solution. Second - while I do have some knowledge of Macs and PCs and computing in general - I am not super savvy and may need...
Hello,
I am curious if it is possible to swap a 2013 Macbook Air logic board with a MBA 2017 logic board.
I saw some post at (Upgrade MacBook Air A1466 i5 2013 logic board with a newer one 2015) claimed that he successfully installed a 2015 logic board on a 2013 MBA body. Since the logic board...
To speed up my photo editing on Lightroom, I was advised to change my fusion drive to SSD as opposed to upgrading my RAM.
Is this the best option? And if so, can somebody recommend a suitable SSD?

Memory 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3

I'm about to buy an OWC kit to make the upgrade by myself and there's plenty of videos about how to replace the hardware on the OWC site and on YouTube ... what I cannot find anywhere is a tutorial on how to take everything (Mac OS included) from my old Fusion disk and put it on the new SSD ...
I made a video showing how to build your own fast external NVMe SSD:
I am using this setup with a Macbook Pro and will continue to use it as a boot drive with the new Mac Mini. I am thinking that it is the best way to get a fast and large SSD without becoming poor at the same time.
Sonnet...
Hi,
I have a new 2017 iMac 27" 5K 3.5Ghz 1TB Fusion drive. I added a 500GB M.2 SSD in a USB-C to USB-C External Housing as the the boot drive. It's certainly made a difference in performance.
However, the Fusion Drive has a Windows 10 partition (Boot Camp) and 750GB of free space.
I am just...

If not what kind of SSD's can I use that doesn't break the bank(Under 200 pounds/dollars).
I recently got my new Mac Pro up & running (a Mid 2012), and because in the short term I've moved my hard drives over from my previous Mac Pro (a Mid 2009), I currently have the following installed:
