Hello dear users!
BEWARE this post is long-ish..
I decided to step up my music production game and I am slowly planning on selling my good ol' Tower Mac Pro 2008. I recently bought an iMac 2015 that was on sale locally on Gumtree. Beautiful machine with 64GB Ram, i7 processor, 2tb fusion...
On an iMac with 2 drives (HD and SSD) and two OS's on each drive, i want to know if it is possible to hide the applications that are used in each OS?
The iMac, can boot in either the HD or the SSD (ElCapitan and Yosemite) but i dont want each user to know what applications are installed and used...
Hi,
My 2011 iMac's hard drive has gotten so slow it's basically unusable. I have a 512 GB WD MyPassport SSD and have successfully used it to boot up the iMac and am running on it now. The external SSD uses a USB C port, but it came with a USB A adapter as well.
This is where I have an issue...
It's a pretty common issue to have slow boot times now with external ssds connected with USB 3 or USB-C, but does this problem still exist with TB3 NVMe external drives (such as a Samsung X5)?
I was under the (mis?)impression that under Mojave, TRIM was supported for external SSDs connected via Thunderbolt.
I have a 2015 27" iMac running 10.14.3, with a Thunderbolt 2 enclosure with a Samsung 850 EVO SSD. System report says that TRIM is NOT supported.
Is there something I need to do...
Hi everyone, new user here from Italy.
I was wondering which SSD I should use for my MacBook Pro 15 mid 2014.
I'm currently using the original 250GB, but I would like to replace it with a bigger one because in the future I need to install in parallel Windows 10 using bootcamp.
I would like to...
Just got new 2013 mac pro(6,1),and i plan to upgrade ram and ssd, should i need to keep apple original ssd(256gb) and ram(8x8=32gb) for apple care(3 years warranty) in future?
Hello, noob to the forums here...
I’ve done a search and not found anything strictly relevant to my circumstances.
I have recently upgraded a mid 2012 pro to a Samsung 1tb SSD and generic battery (good one though), so I have 2 possible causes. I also upgraded the ribbon between the SSD and...
I have an iMac 27 inch 5k 2018. This has a 1 TB fusion drive with a 24 GB of flash storage in it. This computer is used in a music studio and the hard drive performs terribly. It is excruciatingly slow. I was wondering if any one could help me with the following questions:
Based on my...
I have a flashed 2009 Mac Pro which had already been running High Sierra from an SSD without problem. I want to install on an external drive (eSATA). The drive previously was bootable on this machine and contained Mountain Lion, which I erased. It seems that no matter how I try to put High...
There are two drives on a mid 2010 27" iMac. One HDD that was built in originally, and one SSD that was installed after. There are 2 OS's on the Imac, SnowL on the HDD and Yosemite on the SSD. When i boot -by pressing the option key- i get to choose either one OS or the other. All that is pretty...
Hi All,
I'm looking to buy an external SSD and make it bootable for my late 2015 iMac. I'm open to any suggestions, but I'm thinking of this as a single dedicated drive (I don't need multidrive units). It's a 5k display, with USB 3 and Thunderbolt 2 ports. I'm looking for the fastest option...
I've replaced the motherboard on my friend's MacBook Air A1465 (mid-2012) and I have these problems now:
OS won't boot (no apple logo, just white screen)
While trying to reinstall the OS with a flash drive - after it asked the SSD password - it says the selected SSD isn't encrypted in GUID...
Hello. I intend on upgrading my 27" late 2012 iMac with a blade SSD AND replacing the existing 1TB 3.5" HD.
Originally I was thinking of replacing the 3.5" HDD with something like the 4TB Seagate Barracuda Pro (7200 RPM, 256MB Cache) which boasts sustained data speeds of up to 250MB/s...
My iMAC (MB953LL/A) HDD (1TB) just died and I wanted to replace it with the spare 128GB SSD I have that came installed on a MacBook Pro Retina (Late 2012).
1. Can anyone guide me as to what is required to facilitate this transition to SSD (not sure what sort of SSD it is). What additional...
I formatted an SSD destined to become my new High Sierra boot disk as APFS, not realizing that HFS would have been fine. Is there any way I can re-format this drive to HFS+? They ought to issue a warning before formatting a drive as APFS, to the effect that Disk Util can re-format HFS as APFS...
Does anyone know whats causing the crash. I ran Disk Utility and all ran fine in the end but snapshots (backup?) give an error. Startup in Diagnostics said all is fine.. and Safe Mode also runs fine.
Thanks for your help!
I have a 1TB SSD
I have Added 3 reports..

You’ll probably laugh at me for what I’m attempting to do with my 2018 13" MacBook Pro:
I have my old PC NVMe drive (960 Evo) with Windows 10 installed (the very installation I was running on my old PC) attached to an external adaptor, and I am trying to see if I can boot into windows...
Hi All,
I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports)... and yes I was recalled by Apple, for having that year faulty SSD, but they wouldn't fix it under warranty! Due to the fact they found moisture damage inside.
The processor is working fine but when I look at system...
I have a 240GB boot drive on my CMP 5,1 running High Sierra which is about 90% filled and which I want to replace with a 500GB external SSD. Can I create an APFS disk image on a hard drive, clone the old boot drive to the disk image and then clone the disk image to the 500GB SSD?
