If devs are going to charge for official apps they had better at least have a trial period so we could see if their software is even worth it, then it should be no more than $5 (preferably free or $1).

Yeah if your on 1.1.1 thats what you do.
If not go to YOUR guide :D.

Thank ya ;)
I jest, I don't mean to be big headed, it was made or a friend interested in jailbreaking and also to help me remember how to do it if I ever mess up ;)

I wonder if the 1.1.3 jailbreak is a 'native' jailbreak like with 1.1.1 or an upgrade type jailbreak like 1.1.2

Yeah I've also been wondering that, but the less info they give out the less chance there is of apple blockin it.
When the sdk comes out will there be a 1.1.4 upgrade to allow the new apps or are we on 1.1.3 for a while longer?

I think we're with 1.1.3 for a while. 1.1.1 was around from September and 1.1.2 was out between November and January so about 2 months a go. Expect to see 1.1.4 in March if they hold to the schedule ;)

I wonder what they will include... hopefully copy & paste, but i'm being off-topic here haha

Anywho, one of the jailbreak makers has confirmed that it won't be a hardware mod... good news for all I guess :]]

^ Haha, yeah. Sometimes i'm not really a big fan of Apple because of that. :D

Oh My God APPLE, release the SDK already!!!!!!!!!

Downgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.1.1 successful!!!

Um... I dont noe about u guys but i was able to downgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.1.1 quite easily. the way is to first have an ipod touch with the firmware 1.1.3. then on itunes, u option click restore. once u do that. u pick the file which contains the firmware 1.1.2. btw, u have to download the files for the firmware.
http://wiki.iphonegameover.com/Firmware_download
make sure u download 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 to ur computer. then after the restore is finished, option click restore again. then choose the file 1.1.1. once that is finished ur ipod will be a 1.1.1 ipod touch. after that install the apps for jailbreaking.

however, i do not noe wat to do to update back to 1.1.2.
i restored my ipod touch all the way to 1.1.1. i installed the apps for jailbreaking and then when i option clicked update, the ipod was not just updated, it was instead restored to factory settings and all the apps i installed for jailbreaking i.e. installer, it was erased. i need help on that part. try my way and tell me if u find out sumtin new.

Yeah we know how to downgrade it but we wanna have 5 apps and installer at the same time, dude. :D

^ I'd say go to the "downgrade 1.1.3" thread and ask. And at least describe what you have done or what you see so ppl'd understand. Don't just "pay someone if they can help me". If you really want that there're a lot of ipod fixing, downgrading services on Craigslist.

The SDK stands for Software Developer's Kit. It allows developers to create applications for the Ipod Touch/iphone so you might don't have to jailbreak your ipod to get cool applications. :)

------ Here's my question : Will the 1.1.4 firmware be released with the SDK at the same time ?! Anyone heard about it ?!

just go through the jailbreaking process for 1.1.1. i already did it and i have my installer app. then, from the installer, install the iphone apps. it will give u google map, email, weather, stocks, and um... i forget the other one. yea. but the thing is when i update to 1.1.2, my ipod touch, instead of just updating, it returns to factory settings. as a result, i just put my ipod touch back to 1.1.3 because i was too lazy to restore it again. if you find out the problem, tell me.

When you're at 1.1.1 you need to install Oktoprep from the Tweaks 1.1.1 section of installer and then Update to 1.1.2

Please don't be mad at me but i want lyrics and wiggling icons too :p

cjjnovi, you said you were having problems downgrading, if you are getting error (1) while restoring, I found that it worked for me when I renamed 'WTF.s5l8900xall.RELEASE.dfu' to 'a.dfu'. Then close Itunes, start up Iphuc or whatever it is called, type in 'enterrecovery', hit enter, then type in 'filecopytophone a.dfu', hit enter, then type 'dmg go' and hit enter. Then open Itunes and click on restore while holding shift, then select the 1.1.1 firmware. I did it in about 5 mins including the restore time.

Hopefully this helps.
Oh and keep up the good work guys. :D

Ok so back on topic, we know the guys have done it but aren't going to release it, which although is kinda frustrating, is definately the sensible thing to do.

1. Do we think anyone else is going to ignore common sense, jailbreak it and release it?

I've upgraded and contrary to my usual nature, have actually paid for the apps, however every day I feel myself wanting to check installer.app for cool new programs, but alas I cannot. I know my £12.99 is safe though if I do downgrade as iTunes account remembers it and will give me the apps back when I do upgrade again. so...

2. What r ur favorite/most useful installer.apps that I'm missing by sticking with 1.1.3?

Search from from PolarBearFarm.com. I refuse to "go official" until this OBVIOUS functionality is available from Apple, or via download for virgin devices. This omission is patently obsurd (especially on the iPhone... sheesh.)

I'd be very sad without iPhysics. I love, love, love this game. I have all the emulators (GameBoy, NES, Playstation, ScummVM) with a few ROMs, but I hardly ever play them. I have a hard time enjoying them without the tactile feedback of a "real" controller. But iPhysics is perfect for the iPhone/touch. There are a few games that lend themselves better to this sort of tech (ie: touchscreen, accelerometer, etc.) I suspect we'll see great ones come out with the SDK... like Peggle, Chuzzle, Zuma, etc. Until then, I'm staying jailbroken. (Hopefully, there will be a day when we don't need to choose. :D )

Converter is super sweet... haven't had a chance to actually use it "in the real world" yet, but I'm glad I have it.

The SIP-VOIP thing is very cool, even if only as a proof-of-concept. I'm going to buy the mic just because I like playing around with this stuff. I'd be much more likely to use Skype on my Mac to make these kinds of calls. But doing it on my iPod touch could be fun. :)

TuneWiki rocks.

So many more...

Probably the most used app for me, however, is Installer. I just like checking it to see what's come out recently. It's fun to download and tinker -- even if it's a silly app I won't check again -- just to see what folks are working on and sharing.

Or simply do this: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/419396/
No iPhuc needed.
