Again--it's just one thing it won't get--the ability to keep all 3 apps in multitasking active at once. On iPad Pro 9.7", only the top app will be active, the other two will gray out while you have the top one open. Any iPad with 2 GB of RAM or less will have this issue.

I have a 12.9” 1st gen iPad Pro that has 4GB of RAM with iOS 11 beta 1 installed. And I have the issue of having 2 SplitView apps open along with the floating app. The floating app on top is the only active app I can interact with.

Now, I’m not sure about the 10.5” and 2nd gen 12.9”, so perhaps it can be about A10X only feature. But I can confirm 4GB of RAM on my iPad Pro has that same issue.

Full multitasking is the ability to have 2 Splitview apps and a floating slide over app and pip all active at once not possible on those other devices

What other devices? The devices I mention? I’ve seen a video of a Air 2 and a 9.7 iPP being able to perform those task.

And I assume if they are able to do so, iPad Mini 4 with 2GB of RAM is more than capable as well.

No the iPads with 2gb of ram CANNOT have Splitview, slideover, and player in player all active at once, Google it on those devices once you slide over a app the Splitview apps grey out becoming inactive.

What are you questioning me about? I’m aware of this.

I already mention up above that my 4GB 1st gen 12.9 iPP has this same issue.

Idk man I just want my new iPad I'm heated :D

I understand, I’m going to wait and see the new 12.9” in action first.

They have them in stock around my area... I’m kind of reluctant to check it out.. I’ll end up purchasing it simply for the reason being that it’s the latest and greatest lol.

Weird because on my first gen iPP 12.9" model, all 3 apps remain active and usable/scrollable. Haven't tried it with PiP also yet though, but 3 active apps are possible on 1st gen iPP.

Umm... would you care to post a video of this?

With SplitView of 2 apps along with a floating app, the only app I can interact with is the floating app. I feel as this is somehow designed that way.

I can easily dismiss the floating app by moving it off to the side and bring it back by pulling it back. But as long as I have that floating app on the screen the 2 SplitView apps can not be used.

I made a video, but cannot attach as it is “too large”.

Will have to figure out a place online to post it, but I just did it with Notes, Safari, and the new Files app.

Love mine so far as well, the multitasking in iOS11 looks slick, looking forward to trying it.

The form factor is nice, my wife is the lucky new owner of an ipad pro 9.7 today to make the discussion that I upgraded smoother haha. The screen does seem noticeably larger, I was worried I wouldn't notice the size difference in use. The slimmer bezels keep it manageable at the 10.5" as well which is nice.

I’m intentionally waiting an extra 1-7 days to get my iPad so I can save $80 and it’s my choice, but man is it hard waiting while reading all of the first impressions here from you lucky dogs that have it in hand today! :D

Congrats!

Well you can get one today and enjoy it and when the other one comes, ....

Got mine, it's fine, but will probably send it back and stick with the 2017 13" MBP which arrives tomorrow.

Fooled myself into thinking it could replace a laptop, but laptop just makes more sense to me.

Will install IOS11 beta before I send it back to see how that goes.

looking forward to impressions from people that have a 9.7" pro so are already used to truetone and the better speakers.

How good is the faster refresh screen - does it get rid of the 'rolling sea' type effect when scrolling websites quickly? and does the larger screen give you more usable space or just larger things?
I have one being delivered later today, I am upgrading from a 9.7" pro, I'll let you know how it is.

I have upgraded from the iPad Mini retina (I believe it was later rebranded mini 2) to the 10.5 Pro.
It feels like such a big step up, after a couple of hours of having it in my hand here are my thoughts

Things I like

The speakers. They sound great and I like that they aren't muffled by holding the device in portrait like my iPhone.

The screen is beautiful and feels so fast.

The finger print reader is so much better than it is on my 6s.

The pencil. I'm just enjoying using it as a stylus although I'm sure the novalty will wear off.

Dislikes.

I was hoping it wasn't true that the device didn't come with USB C. Come on Apple the time has come to embrace it fully.

Thought the new ipad pro used the same senser as used in iphone 6s and 7??

One thing I was disappointed with - Touch ID still seems to be gen 1. And no capacitive home button. And still no raise to wake? A small feature, but one that seems pretty simple to implement.

Other than that it is great, the screen is amazing along with the reduced Apple Pencil latency.

Are you sure its gen 1? It's listed as gen 2 on apple's site...

Touch ID is 2nd generation. We won't see the capacitive home button until 3D touch is (if ever) implemented as there is no taptic engine. The no raise to wake is disappointing, I figured that would be implemented by now.

Exactly, that was the biggest reason I didn't bother buying the new device. They need to add that taptic engine, the new home button is really great in my opinion.

That’s awesome! Not sure why I’m not able to replicate that. The 2 apps in SplitView becomes inactive when the floating app appears.
Maybe it depends on the apps you selected? I've only tried putting Files and Messages as the top app so far.
