Is anyone running IOS 11 on the new 10.5" I am curious if you are having issues with searching YouTube? Also the other issue that I've had with iOS 11 on my 9.7 inch pro is that Plex will load the show, and after pausing and playing the show, the audio will play but no video plays. It's anyone else seeing this behavior?

Yep for YouTube. I have iOS 11 installed on last year's 12.9 Pro and cannot search. One reason I have not put iOS 11 on my new 10.5.

Brave. I've had enough bugs with apps I rely on with the 9.7" that I am waiting to see how they shake out in the Public Beta before jumping.

I have multiple iOS devices, plus I'm a dev. so ...

But, for a B1..it's quite stable

Just started playing with it..

First Impressions:

- Thing is gorgeous! The screen and speakers are amazing!
- Screen is a bit warmer than my Air 2, but I like it because I prefer a slightly warmer tone.
- You can tell the weight difference, but it's minimal.
- Screen is a finger print magnet!
- Is running a bit warm, right under the Apple logo at the back. Anyone else feeling the same ?
- Very fast touch response.
- Scrolling is smoother than before.
- iOS 11 running great

Coming from an Air 2, this is a big upgrade for me. No first impressions on the pencil yet since I literally just paired it!

Bottomline : This thing is a major GO !

It is truly a BEAUTY and also a BEAST all rolled into one! :)

I am coming from a 9.7 and agree with all of your assessments. It really is a finger print magnet, more so than the 9.7 and the screen does have a warmer tone to it, but that might go away after a couple days. Scrolling is much improved!

I try not too hold onto too many devices at the same time for personal use. And my employer handles the dev hardware for me.

I do already miss having 11 installed though. It's just rough when I rely on Trello and a couple other apps day to day, and they are the ones that don't work (most everything else does).

Yup. This one even got named "The Beast". Although, that is what I called the 12.9" when I had one for a few weeks.

I wonder how much of that is the fact that it is new. My memory may be off, but I remember this with the 9.7" too. Taking it out of the box, and how quickly it got smudged from first use.

Glad I took Space Grey again, nicely fits the rest of the family :)

It's small, light and picks up finger prints like nothing else. :)
I have to be honest and say I'm not noticing the smoothness the enhanced display. Looking at it next to my Note Pro 12.2 they kind of look just alike (granted the pro is slower to load things).

Full iOS 11 multitasking? What does that mean?

iPad Mini 4, Air 2 and 9.7” iPad Pro are all capable of SplitView and floating window. They can not only do that, but have a PiP open as well.

But I do understand that 4GB of RAM helps keep apps from reloading in the background. But to say that only 4GB RAM iPads will get full iOS 11 multitasking is not true.

All the iPads will support iOS 11s multitasking. What the person was referring to was the amount of useable apps that can be used while multitasking. If you’re in split view and pop up a third app, it renders both of those split view apps unusable until you close it. On the pro 2s (and 12.9 gen 1) all 3 apps will remain open and useable simultaneously. Not really a big deal but is a slight limitation when compared to the new ones and 12.9 gen 1.

I'm liking the 10.5" screen a lot! Feels substantially larger than my Pro 9.7". Performance is fine although my light usage never really gives me any trouble. Liking the bezelless design too. Feels nice and light for a 10.5" tablet... so far just been setting it up with my ebooks, magazines, movies, shows, Evernote, email etc... haven't had the chance to test out most of those but I did read some of an ebook in the kindle app and going to watch a show on it tonight. Also, browsed the web a little which was flawless and using tapatalk now to post these first impressions. So far, so good... overall very pleased with this iPad!! :)

Coming from an Air 1
- no more safari tabs reloading, finally
- simply outstanding hardware
- great speed
- screen feels much bigger than expected
- promotion for me less impressive than I thought but still nice
- handling of pencil is simply embarrassing from loading to... not to know where to put it, Microsoft is miles ahead here - however writing and drawing performance is excellent

All in all a fantastic device, looking forward to ios 11...

I hate the home button. It's funny how I've adjusted to the iPhone 7 Plus. Clicking the button feels so strange to me. Also miss force touch as well. Other than that, it's an iPad. Very nice.

I had a 12.9 inch pro, then sold it because it was too big and bought a 9.7. I feel like the 10.5 is the perfect size I've been looking for. It gives me noticeably more screen than the 9.7 but it's not nearly as cumbersome as I found my 12.9 is. I'm so happy with it right now.

I just wish I could find a decent case and a Smart Keyboard in my area.

something to take my mind off swearing at :apple: for lack of a full leather case....glad to hear you're all chuffed; mine delivers next week:)

We have both the new big and smaller iPads today. I must say, this new 10.5 is really something. The 12.9 is still wonderful, of course, and those users will be happy, but the main attraction now is the smaller one as it's a new design, and so far seems like a big success. It's awesome how much power is in this form factor. iPhone 8 is going to be killer.

Note I'm liking the true tone, which I thought was a gimmick. On these super bright screens, it might be useful.

But it's the honeymoon now, and the warts will show in time (I know.... :) )

I only had 15 minutes of in car use to play around with it. So far here are my 2 unexpected observations.

1. Why not use the non-mechanical home button from iPhone 7? I got so use to the new home button on my iPhone 7 Plus it's like going back to a 6S again. There needs to be some consistency. It's going to be even worse if Apple deletes the home button on iPhone 8.

2. That camera bump is totally nuts. On one hand I appreciate the spec bump to the iPhone 7 camera but on the other hand I won't take pictures with a tablet especially if I have a 7 Plus with me at all times.

My observations before buying the tablet are below.

1. Apple should have fully redesigned the tablet to store a mini Apple pencil (Samsung Note size) and offer the larger size pencil as an option; a more deluxe version of it.

2. It's missing 3D touch but given the fact that you have Apple Pencil support negates it. But does anyone know if Apple plans on adding it to Apple Pencil?

It may sound like I'm complaining big time but I'm not. It's the best tablet today but Apple could have made it even better.

We might have 2 honeymoons; 1 on launch day and 1 when official iOS 11 comes out. That's the biggest issue right now because iOS 11 really concentrated on redefining the iPad.

LOL, I said the same thing about the home button as well. You just get use to it and going back seems like a downgrade.

Speaking of leather. I did get the leather sleeve as well, but am not terribly impressed with it. The leather is nice quality, but thin and with no padding beyond the leather itself. The Pencil pops into its sleeve nicely enough, but it isn't nearly as nice to carry around as the Dash sleeve I've been using since they made it for the iPad Air 2, which is padded as well so makes a good insert while traveling and so on. I'll probably just save the money and go for another Dash sleeve. Kinda wish those were still at the old pricing though.

Man is this nice. Just feels perfect in my hands. Nice job, Apple!

Yup, I've adapted a bit faster than I thought to the size. The screen feels a bit more immersive as well. How much is from the larger screen, and how much from the smaller bezels, not sure.

Couple points:

1. Non-mech home button and 3D touch rely on haptics for feedback to the user. It needs that, and probably one motor on each side of the tablet for the sensation to feel right. But since it has no way to produce haptic feedback, neither of these are a go (yet?).

2. Yeah, the camera bump is annoying, but you get used to it. It's not even as bad as the one on the iPhone. Less wobble.
