does the green resize button in the corner of windows resize them normally now?

No, but there are a lot of tools that will help you do that. The most lightweight and non-intrusive tool I've used that does this is SizeWell, which is free. Set the default behavior for the zoom button to do a full screen resize. The other nice plus is it lets you enable to disable Lion's zooming animation, which is a little jagged on bigger screens.

Personally I think the new top right Full Screen mode button is necessary, it should be the "+" green button's job to do this. That green button's always bee wrong.

don't worry: the finder now behaves correctly when you resize icons
http://sldn.info/LdQ6

I just read this and didn't notice the effect you said, I have DP4. In fact I think I found a bug? I have a folder of icons, but have customised it's background to be black, as Lion is simplified even further than usual the Status Bar is missing (the slide rule for this task would then be absent), so, when I enable it the background turns white!

Should that happen? I find the option to turn the Status Bar off in SL greyed out.

You need 1 GB more of RAM, I believe. And at least a Core 2 Duo processor.

Nope. According to Apple.....Your Mac must have an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor to run Lion.

Buying a new machine is what you will need to do.

Officially Core Duos are not supported, but I remember reading about people installing and running Lion DPs on them just fine.

You can't upgrade your CPU, but you can upgrade your RAM. You will definitely want to at least double your RAM.

Like others have said I have seen threads on here about others getting it to run on older systems. Buyer be ware if you try to install. As others have mentioned you can't upgrade your processor, you have to buy a new machine. Sorry.

No, there is not. It is impossible to upgrade the processor without a piece of machinery so complex and expensive that, if you had one, you wouldn't be worrying about the cost of a silly little MacBook ;)

I wish they just got rid of that stupid green button. It's hit or miss, sometimes it works, but most of the time it just screws up your window, like in Safari. It should do Full Screen instead, with it being disabled on apps that don't have full screen mode.

Pretty much any machine you buy from Apple would blow away what you have. No offense, but those are some of the lowest specs I've seen in a MacBook in a very long time. You are long overdue for an upgrade.

Get a refurb if you want to save a lot of money. You might also get a couple hundred bucks for your old MacBook.

The alternative is to hack Lion to run on your CPU, which some of the more advanced users on this forum were struggling a lot with. Assuming you aren't technically inclined, I wouldn't even consider this an option.

If all App developers would have complied to the HIG this inconsequent behavior would not exist:

If the user changes a window’s size or location by at least 7 pixels, the new size and location is the user state. The user can toggle between the standard state and the user state by clicking the zoom button. When the user clicks the zoom button of a window in the user state, your application should first determine the appropriate size of the standard state. Move the window as little as possible to make it the standard size, and keep the entire window on the screen. The zoom button should not cause the window to fill the entire screen unless that was the last state the user set.

This makes perfect sense as the window resizes just as much as needed for the content displayed in the window.

D'oh, the fight for the green button is long lost anyway. Why am I wasting my time?

Apple doesn't even follow their own guidelines. Just look at iPhoto, calculator, XCode, etc.

If only Apple would communicate with their users that this is the intended purpose and if Apple would take the time to make sure the button isn't as buggy as it is. I've had very inconsistent effects when using the button with Safari and the Finder.

Meh, I never use the button any way.

Are you seriously asking this question?

Get 2.3 Core i5 with 4GB of RAM. That's the current model. And try looking at Apple.com before you spaz out in a forum.

For all of those that have been using Safari on 10.7, do you guys notice if gifs show up as fast as they do on Chrome and Firefox?

Always annoyed me how slow gifs looked on Safari:

Such as this one ---->
