quick question about Lion, not sure if it was asked before but..can every app become full screen'd? or does the app need to be updated with that feature?
i.e do i need to wait for Microsoft to launch an update for Office for Mac, for Lion's features?

"full screen" is not like windows - it doesn't just blow up the window to fit the screen, it adjusts the UI to take advantage of the fact that it owns the whole screen.

as a result, apps need to be updated - the OS can't possibly know what would be an appropriate use of the full screen.

IIRC Office already does full-screen where it makes the most sense: print preview mode.

Bounce has gone from Mail!

I'm gonna miss this, sometimes in works in stopping certain junk email, or encouraging people you don't like, to stop sending emails.

How do we report this to Apple to see if it can be brought back. Can't see how it would have been deliberately removed.

I noticed that too, real shame.

I remember Apple saying a while back (late last year) that the mail bounce feature was super buggy, even to the point where it was inadvertently confirming our addresses to spammers a lot of the time. (Link to the Support Article) I guess they decided ironing out the issues wasn't worth it. Too bad, it was fun to use at times.

For eons, I've been able to be in a TextEdit document and then extremely rapidly hit:

1. Command-W (to close the window)
2. Command-D (for "Don't Save")

In Lion, Command-D no longer works. I've tried a few other guesses, like Opt-Com-D, etc. but haven't found anything yet.

Works in Pages, Word, and other word-processing apps. Just not TextEdit.

That's it. Just reporting in. Carry on.

That was one of the first things I noticed in Lion. Hopefully is's just an oversite and will be fixed.

I am ambivalent about Spaces being dropped for Mission Control but the option above is an acceptable alternative.

Wait, what?

No more Spaces?

I may not upgrade then, unless Mission Control is amazing. I use Spaces all the time, especially at work...

No, that can't be right. The only thing that has been dropped is the current UI for Spaces where you can arrange them in a grid. They're in a straight line now, you can see them at the top in Mission Control, along with the full screen apps.

I checked a YouTube video...still not sold on the new Spaces.

Like you said, they're in a straight line now with multiple desktops (?) and you can have many more spaces (it looked like at least 20).

Not sure how I feel about managing multiple desktops. I enjoy just flipping out programs into the ether, as it were, off of one desktop.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_4 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8K2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Wait, so there isnt an individual way to manage spaces, like before, you have to go through Mission Control? That's a terrible decision.

So don't create more than one desktop....man that was easy.

Mission Control is one of the greatest things when it comes to productivity! Working with Lion since two weeks now, will never look back! SL was nice , but no comparison.

What do you like about it? I enjoy it as well.

I have to work with Photoshop, Aperture, Lightroom and Dreamweaver at the same time, have usually between 20 and 30 different windows open. Since MC i find and can switch to the wanted window instantly. In Sl there was always a search and try and error..... Lion is very fast and reliable!

My guess would be that Microsoft will not be releasing an update to mac Office full screen. If they were to do so, they would probably just wait until the next big update to Office and not a .x upgrade.

Somewhat related to fullscreen and lion, it appears on Facebook the new chat purposefully displays differently depending if you are fullscreen or not. In full screen it stays open no matter where you scroll or travel on Facebook. If you drag the sides in or go back out of fullscreen, it goes back to the old popup style.

I'd post a picture to try and explain it better but for privacy reasons...

Hmm…I think that's only because when you resize the window, the chat sidebar overlaps the newsfeed. It switches to the old style rather than cover the newsfeed or resize it.

Quick question on memory. On my laptop, with Finder, it says on the bottom that I have 141.38 GB of space available. On "About This Mac," though, it says 2 GB. Should I be worried about my memory, or am I all set?

2GB Ram
141.38 hard drive space

You're fine.
