ArcticFox, Chrome, InterWeb, Roccat, Safari, SpiderWeb, Stainless, TenFourFox(Intel) and TenSixFox...actually that's 9.

Thanks. I didn't have Roccat (crashes constantly), Stainless (mostly get white page of death), Tenfourfox(Intel). Have Chrome but don't use it cause its donkeys years old...but amazingly I just tried it and everything works, and youtube plays even better than in Spiderweb. Do you link Stainless and Roccat against a newer webkit ala Leporad Webkit?

I found out PPC Media Center had its last release last month, being officially discontinued.

Well I’m taking over development of new versions in a different direction.

Learn more at the official release page on the Garden:

Huge update, now with Safari integration!

**More Info**
Originally created by 'Hugh Downs' with contributions from Dan at ppclundite, it was in development for 6 years until the last final update.
For Installation Instructions, read INSTALL.txt
For Usage, read FEATURES.txt
**LATEST NEWS (5/2/2020)**
-If a URL is required for the selected option and one is not copied to the clipboard, PPCMC will check if Safari is running. If Safari is running the URL of the last active window will be set as the URL. This means you can simply load the YouTube video's web page, and then open the PPCMC app to use the Safari URL. If Safari is not running a text input box will be presented to enter the URL manually. If Safari is running and a URL is copied to the clipboard, an option menu will be presented for the user to select either URL.
-Implemented choose file and choose directory, replacing the text input boxes of relevant features.
-Download Any URL option now can use a link copied to the clipboard.
-Updated OpenSSL to version 1.1.1g.
-Updated Curl to version 7.70.0.
-Cleaned up code and reduced complexity by implementing more universal functions.
-YouTube-dl downloader now displays the Youtube-dl version before and after download.
-Improved UX in Convert Media File option.
-Improved documentation.
-M4A option now embeds thumbnails.
-Added back full screen streaming functionality (as was in older PPCMC builds) with the new Stream Full Screen option.
-Install and uninstall scripts for the web interface have been rewritten in tcsh. To install the web interface, double click the 'Install Web Interface' file. To uninstall the web interface, do the same but double click the 'Uninstall Web Interface' file.
-On launch the app now checks if it is running in the /Applications directory, or somewhere else. Running anywhere but the /Applications directory is not supported and a dialogue will now display informing the user if this happens.
-Added the latest version of AtomicParsley, version 0.9.0 for M4A thumbnail support.
For complete changelog since version 7.0, read NEWS.txt.
**Bundled Binaries**
PPCMC contains:

Thanks to @wicknix PPCMC version 7.1.4 now can stream Twitch.tv live streams, even on Panther using VLC. This new update also allows you to stream YouTube videos in VLC.

The VLC 0.8.6i and 0.91 versions are very outdated and have some compatibility issues that version 2.0.1 does not have. But some Twitch streams do work perfectly in Panther with 0.8.6i.

That's a very welcome upgrade and has broken the previous author's position that QuickTime is the only option available to the script. With that in mind, why not shift to MPlayer, that is far more efficient and versatile?

I’ll throw in support next update, I think it’s about time more media players are available.

Still blown away by Twitch on Panther. This is the only solution for doing so.

It's not really needed on snow leopard. Youtube isn't an issue with in browser playback on intel machines. Add in grease monkey with viewtube script and you can download audio/video with ease (or use down-them-all, flashgot, etc browser add-ons). It's nice that it partially works though as another option.

Cheers

Hi wondering if I can get some help. When I click 'install web interface' it asks me which app I want to use to open it. I don't know what app to choose and I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. I've put PPCMC in my applications folder. I'm on OS X Tiger and am running a 1.67 Powerbook.

You'll need to open the terminal and cd to the folder that the "install web interface" file is in and then run it from there :)

Thanks i'm pretty new to this stuff, I understand how to get to the folder with the "install web interface" but how do I actually run it, just typing in "install web interface" says "no such file or directory". What am I missing?

You don't need the web interface to use the app. Just toss it in /Applications, and make a dock shortcut. Go to YouTube and copy link of video, open ppcmc and choose your desired playback or download option.

Cheers

As @wicknix said, you only need to install the web interface if you want to use the web interface from another computer. If that is what you want to do, once you're in the directory you then drag and drop the script on the terminal window and hit enter :)

I really need to make that file auto open in terminal. I rewrote the scripts so you didn’t have to cd into the directory for them to work, they can just be launched from anywhere.

Web interface is only if you want to use YouTube through OS9 or other OSes.

Version 7.1.6 is now available. FFMPEG got an update. A bug on Panther got fixed. Also, there is a faster G4-G5 version which contains an FFMPEG with AltiVec optimizations, alongside the standard G3-G4-G5 version.

I spent a lot of time rewriting all of the documentation in HTML, it’s much easier to find specific info now. There’s links that let you jump directly to what you want to know in a Table Of Contents at the top of the new user guide.

Since Macintosh Garden displays HTML, I ended up just copying the entire user guide as the description. For some reason the garden treats <h1> as <p> so it looks different then the manual normally however.

Feedback is greatly appreciated. Future looks bright for Panther YouTube usage.
