I think you're misreading what I posted. Not ten four fox (TFF), but ten five tube (TFT). It's a WebKit wrapper forcing a mobile Android U.A on youtube. It's literally a few kb in size. Much lighter than safari or tenfourfox.

Cheers

I said I used TFT before I started working on PPCMC.

I’m aware they are 2 different things, I was just sharing what I use on Tiger & Panther as TFT is not available on those OSes.

Gotcha. Sorry I'm a bit buzzed. The wife and I are at a "quarantine party". Looking at tiny phone text under the influence isn't my strong suit. ;)

Cheers

Edit: TFT v2 still works on tiger btw, but requires a faster machine to play videos.

How funny, I’m doing the same! Great tip, I was just looking for an MPlayer that works on Tiger.

Search this forum for smtube. @Lastic has an mplayer build for Tiger posted.

Cheers

Yup you find it on the 1st post of SMTube for Tiger here #1

Stay safe everybody, I haven't left the house since the 12th of March except for these past 2 Saturdays delivering groceries to my 85 year old parents (who haven't gone outside since then but luckily have a garden).

Thought some of y’all might find it interesting how much I use my own software...

It’s literally all music videos.

Creating for oneself is one of the best methods of innovation.

Case in point, the contents of my signature. :p

I just realized something. QuickTime 6 can stream URLs, and if my power adapter comes in today I’ll have 2 PPC Macs.

I can most likely use web sharing on the mini and stream files on the clamshell.

That’s an awesome idea! ?

Turns out the y key doesn’t work at all and the v key only works with an insane amount of pressure on it. Really scammed by a 100% rated seller...

Unless this comes back in stock if I’m buying another one of these in a few months...
Besides that I got 8.6 on here. 240p video mostly plays fullspeed but I think it’s more comfortable with 144p at the current PPCMC settings.

EDIT: THE V KEY WORKS! Kept pressing it and now it works like all the other keys.

Also, Y key is working with the key cap removed, can I really fix this?

Edit 2: Y key almost functioning normally. Went at the contact and plastic best I could with a dry Q-Tip. Maybe isopropyl is the answer?

Edit 3: Completely working! Just a dry Q-Tip to clean off the bottom contact and the plastic nub’s inside portion. Both had to be cleaned off, there were specs of dirt and debris in both.

Glad to hear that you got it working! I need to clean my iBook's keyboard for sanitation purposes and because the space bar is funky. How would you recommend going about that?

Take your finger (or something thin) and slowly lift straight up one of the corners of the space key. I think going from the top corners is the best.

Once that’s gone, you have a scissor mechanism (aka 2 pieces of overlying plastic on a metal bar beneath) and a plastic “plunger”. Underneath the plunger is a blue circle (might be different for the space key but same idea). My blue circle had debris on it and the bottom inside of the plunger was dirty too. Take a Q-Tip and lightly scrub at the entire blue contact. You have to slightly pull the plunger away and to the side, don’t break the plastic ! Take your time and get under the plunger, you can see if your making progress by pressing the plunger and seeing if it’s more responsive.

Space key might have 2 contacts/plungers, haven’t checked.

But when you want to put the key cap on, place it directly above where it originally was. On the clamshell it’s transparent so you can see where all the connections have to line up.

Im gonna get some isopropyl just to see if using any of that will help more. I’ll be turning the iBook off, rubbing some on with the Q-Tip as above, then letting it dry for an hour (over kill).

I’ll let you know my results. Let me know about the space key, just be careful with the plastic around the plungers and the key cap inserts.

If your going at the whole keyboard, I’d disconnect it like you are taking out the ram and take off all the key caps. Take a picture of the keyboard before you do so, that way you know what goes where.

I use this stuff all the time. As long as the surface is uncovered, 5 to 10 minutes is more like it - and that's still on the safe side. In practice, and depending on the amount used, isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol typically evaporates within 1 or 2 minutes.

Ensure you don't leave any stray fibers behind after rubbing with the Q-tip. I've stopped using them in favor of special brushes and microfiber cloths for this express reason alone.

Seems like 240p MPEG 1 is the best option for the 300MHZ Clamshell, rock solid full speed FPS. 360p can only really get to 20fps or so, 480p is like 12 FPS.

The 300Mhz clamshell can play MPEG4 with a balance of bitrate and FPS:

Hell, you can get 360P in VPC4/Win95 if you use Cinepak :)

Trying this ASAP! Couldn’t find the posts from you on this for some reason...

I’m perpetually confused on why ffmpeg performs seemingly so much worse then what you have found.

Over the years, I have found bizarre inconsistencies between app versions and or/same versions on different architectures.
Ideally I'd use a G5 if I still had one - for optimal compatibility not speed - MPEG Streamclip on my Mac Pro never outputs MPEG4/Cinepak/Sorenson as it should.
I rarely used ffmpeg - apart from the 'app' I made this year and I used to find ffmpegX results unpredictable.
Handbrake too is not immune from glitches between versions/architectures.

Oh, so you limit bitrate and FPS? That’s why ffmpeg is performing worse.

What were your settings?

With MPEG1, I’m not dropping quality, FPS, resolution or bitrate and it’s fullspeed on the clamshell.

Actually I’m able to download files in the background with clasilla and still play videos which is quite nice on a 300MHZ G3.

It was a few years ago, so don't remember - but the FPS was dropped, I remember that was the main thing.
I never did any MPEG1 transcoding - will have to look into it.

Highly recommend MPEG 1. Converting a 240p MP4 to a 240p MP1 goes at about 2.5x speed on my 1.42ghz G4z.

Next version of PPCMC will include this option.
