Used every iphone and every ios version. Went out and got an 8+, to replace my 7+. Still glitchy and laggy as hell.

Maybe for you, it’s super slick on my 8 plus, 2 x 7 Plus, iPhone 6S and iPad 10.5 Pro, air 2 and iPad 4’s

I honestly don't remember 7 being as bad with such elementary, simple things, even given the total UI overhaul.

The issues in 11 are simply pathetic, I feel like I'm using a mid tier Android phone.

Haha true. With all the lag, I feel like I am using a cheap Android device.

Even my iPad Air 2 on iOS 10.3.3 is more snappy than my 2017 iPad Pro V2 on iOS 11.

don't people on these forums get it? we're not all having the same experience. and there are obviously people running around using ios11 who don't post on macrumors forums (or any forums) who are fine with it.

imagine if we had to state things with absolute clarity; then this thread title would be "11 is the worst ios release ever, for me"

personally (on my SE), it's running great, and am pretty happy...

As I said, all you have to do to convince me is to make a screen recording of opening a 3D Touch menu on any of your phones. If that's not glitchy (animation stuttering), I'll believe you. Until then, you are just not observant enough to notice it.

I look forward to the video.

I messed with my mom’s iPhone 7 Plus this morning on iOS 10.3.3 and it is absolutely slicker than my 7 Plus runnin* iOS 11.0.2. 3D Touch animations and apps to home screen in particular were quicker with no lag. I’m confident iOS 11 will clean up but it sure feels clumsily done at this point in time.

iOS 7 was a UI glitch nightmare, but the performance overall was OK I think. iOS 11 seems worse to me.

Could be memory bias though. iOS 8, 9, and 10 are definitely mild compared to this year's release.

Things have moved, settings in settings aren't always where they used to be. The hesitation in some apps is appalling, find my car makes no sense. The list could go on but basically, I am getting real tired of learning iOS all over again every year.

I quite disagree.
I still think that iOS 7 was the worst and iOS 6 was the best.

Agreed. iOS 6 was by far the smoothest and most stable. iOS 7 was a total disaster.
Completely agree. iOS 7 would flat out crash the entire device constantly, freeze it continually, and refuse to answer or end phone calls. I still can’t believe they released that beta to public. iOS 11 is pretty decent honestly.

look at the replies here. isn't it obvious, we're all having different experiences, on each OS? one person likes 11, another prefers 6, someone else thinks 6 is awful and 7 was the best.

that's the whole point: there is no one universal experience. it's amazing how much time people (am including myself) waste on this forum making pointless arguments... instead of discussing issues, asking for help, etc. comical, and sad stuff...

personally, am gonna stay off these threads, and focus on asking for help when i need it, and offering help when i can do that.

iOS11 is not so bad actually, other than some UI decisions Apple made. I made the jump to instal it on all my iDevices on 11.0.1 (I usually prefer waiting till a .1 update), and things seem to be running fine. At least there are no basic apps breaking.
The worst that I can remember was iOS8. This was the time when even the mail app was crashing.
Then there's iOS5. I had it on my original iPad, and starting up Safari would crash it.
Steve Jobs said that the iPad is supposed to be "better" at least at email and browsing the internet than a laptop/smartphone. Both of those OS releases failed.

No, it hasn't. It wasn't this bad with the most basic actions (like 3D touch).
It may be time to setup the phone as new if you haven’t already. Every so often a clean instal tends to be a good thing. I personally have no issues with iOS 11

my ipad 5 battery took a downhill since updating to ios 11 it heats up and eats battery just watching 2 minute youtube video

I was really surprised when I went into the local store and found out that the 8+ (the ‘new and shiny’ product) behaves laggy and stuttering on iOS11...same like 7+ after the update. It is a shame to even allow a flagship phone with this price tag to appear for sale at all...

Looks fast and smooth to me. So fast in fact that you barely get to enjoy the smoothness :) The hesitation/snap in the beginning is obviously intentional and goes together with the tactile effect.

I'd upload the screen recording if MRF would let me.

iOS 11 is the worst version I have ever used. It's constantly crashing for me on my iPhone 7. My alarm didn't even go off this morning. Luckily I woke up and I saw the alarm on my screen but no sound playing.

Apps constantly crash and freeze. The entire OS freezes and then suddenly 2 - 3 minutes later everything happens at the same time at high speed and iOS is again usable.

Every single app freezes and crashes. It's unbearable to use.

What has Apple done? This is seriously the worst iOS I have ever used.

What should I try to fix this?

do a clean install dont do OTA and do a back up

A lot of effort and time I don't have but I guess i'll have to try and do it soon and see what happens..
[doublepost=1507577761][/doublepost]I just restarted the phone and the reminder that was meant for 8am GMT just popped up then went away... Only over 12 hours late.

Restore your phone as new. I guarantee that will solve a majority of your problems. Not all, but a good amount.

It is too bad that we, as a community, can't really determine what makes some phone slow and some fine. I'm sure it is an application or set of them that cause these problems for some people. I'm certain that Apple is doing that but they may not be able to say that if you run app "XYCLKJJKL" your phone will slow down and eat battery.

I guess you never saw the forums when iOS 10 was in beta and then released. People cried that iOS 10 was the worst and iOS 9 was the best. People cried that iOS 9 when in beta and released that it was the worst and iOS 8 was the best. It happens every year.

I literally saw a memeber on this forum who was one of the loudest posters about iOS 10 being the worst, and last week saying iOS 10 was the best and iOS 11 is the worst. But how can iOS 10 be the best when this time last year he endlessly complained about iOS 10 being the worst with iOS 9 being the best?
