According to my kitchen scale, my 11-inch iPad Pro weighs 775 grams with Pencil and Keyboard Folio attached.

I don’t have the 12.9 anymore to weigh the 12.9” folio but:

11” iPad 1.045lbs
11” folio. .377lbs also, I only have regular folio, not the keyboard folio

So together they weigh 1.422. Which is the same weight as the 12.9" alone (WITHOUT the folio)

B&H photo has $50 off the 256gb 12.9 2018 IPP with free shipping and no taxes.

Yeah, yeah, still have to pay the state taxes blah blah blah. They can pry that money from my cold dead hands.

I know this is total speculation and I’m sure apple did their due diligence with regard to the iPad Pro sizes. But I feel like an 11.5” or 12” would be the perfect size for me. I’m also confident the spread in size was to capture as many sales as possible. If you think about it, the size difference is just enough to cause looooong threads like this one and push sales.

I can’t make the 12.5 work for me. That’s just a personal thing. It’s great for many people. The feel of the 11 is just enough to feel like I can do what I need to do until I need to whip out the mbp.

I do wish the developers who haven’t would push out new aspect ratios to fit the 11. I know it takes time, I’m just a little impatient.

My mind
Even though I don't do any work on my iPad, I still got the 12.9 pro because it's the only one with that big of a screen. I still have my iPad Mini 2 for times when I was to read in bed. Once there are more case choices being offered, I'll get a case for my Pro and I'll feel like I don't have to baby it as much.

I don't need the keyboard or pencil so I didn't buy them.

You do realize Apple makes things to please the large majority, not just you right? The 11" and 12.9" are two great options that one or the other will please 99% of people. If you cant make one of those options work for you, there are other brands and options to consider. Making their two Pro model tablets only down to a half inch separation would make no sense at all.

Pay attention. I said WITH the keyboard folio attached.
Regardless, you're just delegating for someone else to look it up and add 3 items together, and then return the answer to you. Don't get mad just because we're aware of what you're doing: delegating simple work any one of us can do.

May or may not help some...

I haven’t been able to find the weight of both Smart Keyboard Folios... which is why I asked in the first place.

UPDATE - I found the information. 2.2 lbs is the total weight of the 12.9 with Smart Keyboard Folio

No, I didn't realize Apple makes 'things' for other people. When did they start doing that?

Read my post in context...key words: total speculation...due diligence, etc. etc.

So coming from the 10.5, I deliberated for weeks which one to get and I must have read every single comment in this thread :)

So I got the 12.9 and so far very happy with it, typing and drawing very comfortable.
But everything I see the 11 I really like the form factor and portability as well.

In the end I think that if you want to work/draw/type a lot on your iPad, get the 12.9. And if you only use the iPad for surfing the net, Netflix and without the keyboard, you might as well get the excellent 300$ regular iPad! (Although I like the 11‘ a lot!)

I finally traveled with the 12.9 iPad Pro and I was in coach for a normal domestic flight and it fit well on the trey table with a drink. I did find out that they ask you to put the tablet away if there is a keyboard attached so if I just flipped the keyboard folio back before and after the trey tables go up I didn't have any issues. Overall I liked it and I also didn't get LTE this time and really didn't miss it very much so I think I'm going to just go wifi only going forward.

I agonized over this decision. Ended up going 11” from my 10.5”. Use is varied from professional stuff to media/content consumption.

Really like split screen and overall screen size of the 12.9. However, what did it for me was holding the 12.9 in portrait. I dont have tiny baby hands but it felt really awkward and too tip/tilt heavy.

Well after an absurd amount of overthinking and visiting (and revisiting) the apple shop I finally bought my iPad Pro. I was upgrading from an iPad 4 so was obviously going to notice a difference but wow....loving it 24 hours in.

The answer for me was the 12.9. I was all set for the 11 until I saw them in the shop. The 12.9 to me just felt like a more premium iPad due to the larger screen. I have an iPhone XS Max and had an iPhone plus before that and I remember thinking they might be too big but always ended up being glad I bought the bigger ones, I prefer the larger screens.

I am using the folio keyboard which I am impressed with so far, and for me it will be my main computer. I don’t use it for travelling much, it is mostly going to be used at home but I don’t think it feels too unwieldy or too big to travel with, its not that much bigger than my iPad 4 is with a folio case. So far, 24 hours in, the 12.9 was the correct choice for me and I am loving the device.

Finally pulled the trigger - returned the 11" today and have officially chosen the 12.9 LTE 64. I switched between the two screen sizes (and LTE/wifi and 64/256) every couple of days for the last month and the 12.9 screen is just really nice and packaged in a more compact body than the previous 12.9s.

As great as that 12.9 screen is, I had a reassurance last night that the 11” was the right choice when I was playing Golf Clash in portrait mode when laying in bed. Just the perfect size in more situations for me.

Funny you say this. I had the same reassurance last night when my wife was watching TV and I had to stream my Xbox One X to my 12.9 using the app OneCast. Playing Tomb Raider on my 12.9 is an amazing experience with the extra screen real estate. I actually walked around the house with my iPad during some of the cutscenes, something I can't do on the big screen TV :D. The 12.9 is the perfect size for me in more situations ;)

The moral of the story here is that it’s a good thing that Apple made 2 sizes.

Agreed

Max and 12.9 is a perfect combo for me
