I love my 11 pro, I want to go 12.9 but i feel that with the added keyboard weight may put it in the may as well lug around the laptop category

I'll stick with my 2018 11" 512GB LTE. I will entertain the Magic Keyboard after I see reviews. The addition of the Magic Keyboard creates no desire for the 12.9 when it comes to how I use my iPad. I have a MacBook Pro that I use as a laptop at home. My iPad is always in my smart cover at home and used strictly as a tablet with the pencil. When I travel, I put the ASK on it. Not everyone may be into one handed tablet holding, but I am. Most mornings I'm walking around with my iPad in one hand and cup of coffee in the other. I had the 2018 12.9 when it was first released along with my 11 like everyone else who was trying to decide between the two, the 12.9 was just not as comfortable using it as a mobile tablet. It's not even that it's heavy, it's just unbalanced and awkward because of the width and length. I found myself always having to make accommodations/adjust how I was holding it. Using it in portrait mode just felt weird and cumbersome. I would just hold it in landscape mode which made one hand holding even more difficult. It was really an easy decision for me and I haven't looked back. We all have different needs and uses. My advice to everyone, stick with what works for you and don't be persuaded by a poll or a few opinions of people that aren't you. If I used my iPad as a laptop replacement for getting work related type tasks done, I would without question consider the 12.9. Not my use case though. It's a note taking, consumption device. I got the 11 pro so that I could have the power and specs to do any pro tasks that I may need when traveling. When at home, it's my MacBook all the way.

You’re current iPad is fine. If you’re going to spend the premium just get the 12.9 at this point. The 11 is too close to the 9.7 screen to be worth the trouble

I'm happy with my 11 inch. If I used my iPP more for computer functions, then the 12.9 would probably be my first choice, but compared with my iPP, the 12.9 felt a little superfluous. However, if I decided to pick up another iPP, I think I'd go for the 2018 version and save a few hundred dollars.

Ugh. . . need to make a decision. And this thread is not helping. Have an iPad Air 2, 32GB. It's getting long in the tooth and the storage is too small. So, trying to decide between the iPP 11" v 12.9" 256GB. Current usage is not at the desk since I have a 2017 27" iMac as a primary computing device. My wife suggest the 12.9. I'm leaning 11" since I would generally not be using it at a desk. But from many of the comments, it appears that people like the 11" but they love the 12.9" Just not sure that I want a device that big. ?

From Air 2 to 12.9” 2018: a little bit heavier and bigger, but I really love the extra screen space. Perfect for watching movies, reading books/pdfs, writing and drawing.

If I can only keep one iPad, I'd go 11" for the simple fact that the 2018 12.9" wouldn't fit in my purses. Despite the bezel reduction, it's still pretty big.

I returned the 12.9 and got the 11 with no regrets. What's the return policy of the place you're considering? Only you can decide what's best.

In your use case I think the 11” would be perfect. Still small enough to use one handed, and you can fall back to your desktop when you need to.

I went with the 11 inch. I was hoping for a significant drop in weight for the 12.9, but it's apparently the same. The price is just too high and I like the extreme mobility of the 11. I could easily see myself having both one day. One for desk use, and one for mobile.
I have a 2018 11 inch model that I really like for travel and just ordered the new 12.9 inch and will use that less for travel.

Here is my 2 cents:
-If you don't have a computer and want to use your iPad as a computer replacement (not the brightest idea IMO), go for the 12.9
-If your iPad is a complement to your computer, go for the 11"
This! The best, simplest opinion I've seen. The only thing I would add:

3. If you own an iMac or other stationary computer you may want to consider the 12.9" as well; in other words, a laptop replacement. If you are a Laptop owner, 13" or bigger, I'd get the 11"

This is what I’m thinking of doing, even tho it’s kind of overkill . My thought is get a refurb 2018 or 2020 11” to replace my mini . And when this rumoured 12.9 mini led iPad Pro is released and replace my 2016 NTB MacBook Pro with it

What OS version does this whatever app require?

Sounds otherwise like any ipad would do the trick. Pick the one you like the most, order it and test it during the return period.

Hm, what’s a computer function that the smaller iPad cannot perform? Do you refer to drawing or something where more screen estate is just more comfortable?

Your personal preference is the best judge. Try the 12.9 in the 14 day return period and see how it works for you.

Best success!

I started with the 11” 2018 iPad Pro and moved to the 12.9” version. For 2020, I’m going back to the 11”.

For me, I prefer the bigger screen, but the lack of probability made me go back to the 11”. I think it comes down to what type of user you are? If you plan on using this in the house at a single location I’d get the 12.9”. I haven’t once used the 12.9 in bed because it’s just not comfortable enough. I can’t wait for the smaller version this time around.

Either way good luck!

That's basically what I have. I have a 27 inch iMac, a 15 in MBP (I use this for work now) and then iPad mini, 11 inch Pro and now will get the new 12.9 pro. I will probably give my old pro to my wife.

I have a 27" iMac in my home office and have had a 11" iPad since Dec 18, thinking of getting the 12.9" next and give my wife my 11" to replace her iPad 5.
I only travel with it 3-4 times a year so will just get base model 128gb wifi.

Only thing not sure is in bed as can hold the 11" iPad in one hand.
