That just means the movie is being heavily cropped.

it does not look like cropped.

How is your Air 2 useless? I have one in the house that still runs the latest iOS and works pretty well. Sure, no pencil but that’s known. Useless I find hyperbole.

i have to charged it everyday to use it for 1 hour per day. The battery is dead even if I do not use it. Movies start to lag. 2GB RAM is not enough, if I read magazine and check safari for info, it fails. One year ago it wasall fine.
Btw battery test showed 80 % of full capacity and not so many cycles, so it should not be an issue either.

Whilst it's true that there's nothing fundamentally different you can do on the 12.9 vs the 11, the 12.9 does have some layout differences like three-column Mail and Notes, and full iPad UI for apps in split screen. This might make some tasks a lot easier.

Personally I'm still happy with my 10.5" Pro, but strongly considering going to a 12.9" if the Pro apps rumour is true.

Ifound out that all disadvantages of 11” are software based. So maybe new IpadOS will force multitasking to desktop mode as well and keyboard can get new layer as well. Than 11” will be the best option.

It was zoomed in. Iron Man is in 2.4:1 format and if displayed in that original format on a 12.9 Pro, it will not have black bars on the sides but absolutely will have very significant bars on the top and bottom. There is no way around that. Wide screen TV's and monitors will likewise display like this with their 16:9 aspect ratios.

I’d love it if they go 12” and 14” for the next gen iPad Pro. The 12” as the all rounder and the 14” for creative pros who need a bigger canvas to work from.

I think 12 and 15 is more likely in the future. It maybe a 16 inch iPad. Got to think that could happen at some point in the future. However then at that size it will no longer be a tablet.

I’ve found I’m using spilt screen for apps everyday so for me the 12.9 is perfect for this. I did find the 11 inch bit too tight for tasks like this.

very happy with my 12.9 and magic keyboard. Think this will be my size choice until the iPad gets bigger of course which it might over time.

I switched to the 12.9 and I love it. The screen is incredible. The 11 inch screen is nowhere near as sharp or clear. Also, text looks a little pixelated and blurry. It's hard to describe but I can tell a difference. I always thought that the screen looked inferior especially when switching back and forth between the iPad and MacBook Pro. With the 12.9 there is no difference. It looks just like my MacBook Pro and LG Ultrafine. Another thing I love is the aspect ratio. The 12.9 is wider than the 11. I never liked the taller screen. I frequently multitask so the larger screen and wider ratio really come in handy. I mean look at the difference here!

Overall I am very impressed. I can't put down the 12! It's such a joy to use. Now all I need is my Magic Keyboard!

I rarely have to zoom in on text anymore. The weight takes a little bit of getting used to but it is so worth it in the end. Now I just need my Magic Keyboard!
Hm???
11" and 12,9" has the same 264ppi ;)

Icarez on Amazon is the best value I’ve found. It feels just like more expensive pencil like protectors for a fraction of price. I’ve had mine on my smaller iPad for over a year and it feels new.
I can confirm this. They're surprisingly good protectors which many people overlook because of the low price.

Makes the 12.9” look very tempting. Just think it still looks slightly too big for all the traditional iPad tasks I want to do like reading books and surfing the web on the sofa.

They have the same pixel density. I reckon only time you'd have an issue with clarity is with apps that don't natively support the resolution. In that case, it's possible the 11" is using a blown up 9.7" UI.

That said, some elements are rendered bigger on the 12.9" iPad instead of at same size with more content crammed on the screen (e.g. home screen). In this case, elements do look clearer since it's using more pixels to display them.

As for aspect ratio, the 11" actually has a wider aspect ratio in landscape vs all other iPads. However, the 12.9 is physically wider (and taller) and it's the only size to support tablet UI in splitview.

The UI and text is also significantly scaled down. It loses quite a bit of sharpness in the process.
Detail maybe. Not sharpness. And honestly, these are retina displays, so by definition they aren’t losing much at normal viewing distances.

Display specs for the 11" vs 12.9" are identical except for size & resolution. The PPI is identical, so you're getting a little more screen real estate because of the added size. "Sharpness" should be identical. But perhaps, as someone stated, some sloppy developers are only coding for the standard iPad's (10.2") 2160x1620 resolution for non-12.9" models, resulting in it scaling up to the 11" 2388x1668 resolution?

Interesting observation from comparing the resolution and PPI for all "current" models sold on Apple.com: All except the Mini have a PPI of 264. The Mini has the highest/sharpest PPI of 326.

Doubt it. Anything that supports 2160x1620 (2019 iPad 10.2) will likely support 2388x1668 (2018 iPad Pro 11) as well. However, a lot of app developers take a long time to support new resolutions. I remember getting a 12.9" iPad in 2017, a year and a half after the size/resolution was introduced in 2015 and I encountered several apps that were still using a blown up 9.7" UI.

Do you mean the xcode rumor? I didn’t understand why the leaker said that opens the door for pro apps to come to iPad. Is it a technical or psychological reason or something else?
I THINK Xcode means that they are bringing MacBook Pro apps over like Final Cut Pro and logic. I THINK.
