I haven’t got a 12 Pro or 12 Pro Max but I do have a launch day 12 and have upgraded today to a 13 Pro.

I couldn’t stomach those ridiculous prices on any of the 14’s so got a good deal on last years Pro instead. My wife went with the 13 Pro Max which I think was a mistake but she can find that out.

The 12 series got hit real bad on battery life because of those first generation 5G modems. Even with 5G set to auto they drain like crazy.
I can see that but in my case I have 5G turned off (because speeds in my area are the same or worse than on LTE) and battery is still not doing well.

I have the 12PM and am leaning toward the 14PM - finger on the trigger, thinking it out. I'm really intrigued with the camera capabilities - 48mp with ProRAW (which is all I use) and Action mode for video.

Yes going from a 12 Pro Max to a 14 Pro Max. I locked in a pretty good trade in price a day or two before the keynote just in case. Got delivery for the 16th and then about another week or so to send of the 12PM to the trade in company. Think this is only the second time I’ve kept an iPhone more than a year and that was largely due to the price of the 12PM making it feel extravagant to trade in after a year. Battery life is still good except if am taking lots and lots of photos (e.g. on holiday) but when I am doing that I take an external battery pack out with me.

Mainly upgrading for the camera improvements, dynamic island and always on display.

Yeah, AT&T gave me a decent deal and dynamic island seems interesting.

Battery was still at 92%, so I thought about it.

Just switched from Not Sure to Yes, pulled the trigger.

Are you using T mobile ?

I use T Mobile for all my travels without having to change SIM cards.

All of Europe, South America, Mexico, Canada, and most of Asia worked well.

The only country that my T Mobile did not work was China and North Korea.
Verizon here, it's not about if it will work or not, my issue is it's cheaper to get a local prepaid sim card, for example in Manila it's $15 for unlimited talk and text for a month and then usually for another $10-15 you get I think 10gb of data for 30 days. I don't even have to worry about overages. 10gb is plenty enough because places I go to usually has Wifi, but I'm looking at googlefi but it's at least $65 and probably will charge you for overages.

Still debating if I upgrade from my 12 PM. Except the battery which is already at 81%, everything else is working more than fine. But the new screen tech and camera upgrades are compelling, and my carrier is offering me a good deal. I am still unsure if I upgrade now or if I wait for the USB-C iPhone 15

I upgrade every two years so it’s a yes for me. But I hesitated when I found out it’s all but certain that the 15 models will have USB-C. My current 12 Pro is fine and I could likely hold out another year, but it’s getting handed down anyway to someone on a family plan using an iPhone 8 that’s on its last legs so it’s definitely not going to waste.

I wouldn't have, but the always on display and the dynamic island pushed over the edge. I'm excited about the iPhone 14PM. Last year I didn't see any reason to, so I kept my 12PM.

Same here with my 12 pro - battery stinks. With my previous phone (Xs Max) I never had to charge it until night time or sometimes it would last me 1.5 days without a single charge. 12 pro, not so much. I find myself charging it throughout the day.
Same here. I'm curious to see how the 14PM performs with my day to day. I've considered getting the Apple MagSafe battery to top up, but I will hold off to see if I need it. My battery health on my 12PM is at 87%, had since launch.

I do think the argument to upgrade based on the battery wear a little OTT, as there is the option to replace the battery. I do find it humorous. upgrading based on reasons such as the battery (which can be replaced, relatively cheaply), when the price difference between a new battery for your current phone is a fraction of the cost of the new phone models, well its a weak argument. I prefer it when people just say I am upgrading because I want to lol.

I did have battery issues with iOS14 but since 15 came along my battery wear actually improved at least according to coconut battery (I am thinking the battery wear was mis-reporting previously in iOS14). If something does happen to the battery this year I would just replace it as at least here in the UK, the cost of the new phone is a fairly compelling reason to stick, or see what deals there are on the 13 models perhaps.

Struggling to justify the upgrade. There is very little to gain. I have tried the promotion screen on iPhone 13 Pro and it smooth and all. However you get used to the standard 60 Hz screen again - and it is not like iOS hasnt been buttersmooth for a while now. I want better optical zoom. I think for standard photos, family and big scenery etc the iPhone 12 Pro Max is excellent, actually stunning. There are situations in nature for instance where I would love a better optical zoom.

I am also disappointed that USB-C is still not a thing with iPhone. I have iPad Pro with USB-C and other peripherals such as headphones that use USB-C. When I travel I try to travel light and focus on convenience - having 1 charger and 1 cable would be much smoother.
Keep it simple. That was the philosophy of Steve Jobs. That is why he loved the german industrial design. Simplicity and function. Having Lightning port on iPhone but USB-C on iPad does not align with this philosophy.

But it was the battery for me. I've never gone somewhere to replace my battery, it never crossed my mind to do so. Some random store or the Apple Store, idk. I don't know a place that does that and I don't live near an Apple Store.
