For me I'm still thinking about switching away from 1Password to something else.

Tried Proton Pass which I don't. Tried Strongboxsafe which is nice but has it's quirks...
Apple Passwords.app is kind of feature-less.

But yesterday I tried https://apps.apple.com/us/app/access-passwords-companion/id6469049274

This one looks quite good - any experience from someone out there?
I am not familiar with that program and haven’t seen it mentioned before.

There is a one star review on the macOS App Store you might like to read. Here is the developer's website; https://access.foyerobjet.com/
From what I can see it's just another password manager which can sync with the Apple Passwords app so you can import export between the two. Other than that and its multi platform versions it appears to have sections for various "other" secure data eg. Passports, Credit Cards, Bank Accounts, Drivers Licences, Insurance, ect, which some other PW Managers do have but Apple Passwords does not.
So, it's a secure PWM that syncs via iCloud across all Apple devices, can import password data from Apple Passwords (AP) with some valuable features AP does not have and the "In App Purchases" are subscription plans as below;

I already have all of those features on Enpass except the ability to successfully export passwords from Enpass to AP. I can see no reason to swap to Access but I do see good reasons to keep Enpass, if for no other reason that the ability to store all those other secure items mentioned above. I think until Apple extends the storage categories in AP we all need to hang onto our old PWM's.

If however you are one of those who never had a PWM before and are just starting out with AP's Access might be the perfect supplemental PWM. AU$40.00 isnt a bad price for a lifetime subscription.

This does look appealing. I am interested!
Can it import from 1Password?

Hoping someone who has tried it chips in.

Update: I have NordVPN and Pass thanks to Revolut and its Metal Plan. Migrated from 1Password completely. Now I keep NordPass only because I have a Windows PC at work. For my Macs I use Passwords, and I might buy the app @bsmr linked earlier, I think it looks very interesting

Hey @jboyzh I really like your profile picture, as simple as it is!

By the way, I wanted to ask you something about Apple’s Passwords App. I’ve noticed that each time it converts a saved password into a passkey, the password itself disappears! What if I need to log in using the password in the future? The app deletes it and I have no way to keep it if I didn’t save it anywhere else!

I never understood why people were willing to give away their security data to some random program. I'd stick with the most trustworthy option available which is Apple's.

Since the last Update Firefox disabled the old 1Password 7 extension (I have a perpetual license): "This extension has been restricted and disabled for violating Mozilla's policies. You can enable it, but doing so may be risky."

Does anybody know why exactly?

I guess now finally the time has come to complete my migration to Bitwarden/Vaultwarden. Installed it over a year ago and have all my passwords in it, but never made the final step.

While I trust Apple with my account, I am not naive enough to think something bad couldn't happen.

I think a lot of people haven't used Apple sooner is because it has lacked the feature they wanted. And as much as I appreciate the new Apple Passwords app, I still use Strongbox to store data that Apple'e program

Apple stores password in the cloud and I do not want that, simple as that. At least I want some security white paper with a detailed description how the information is encrypted. Beside that I can not use Apple passwords with Linux and some other OS and until recently Keychain was a pain to use and lacked a lot of featurs.

That said I do use Apple password, but only for web forums and that sort of things.

They don’t have any info about security on their website, and it says it relies on iCloud. No cross platform, a deal breaker for most people.

Because they don’t see anything and most of these companies are proven.

I posted how my daughter was locked out of her Apple ID for a week. She didn’t have access to ANYTHING including passwords. Nope.

And here doesn't appear to be any way to get developer support via email or website.
This is my fear. Third party developers might vanish and you're in trouble unless they open source the code. Most don't. The alternative is to use Apple's solution as they will likely be around next year.

Apple is finally making good progress in the Password management area. Granted, we all would have liked to have seen their app sooner but...Apple. lol

You make a good point. When I am looking at a indie developer app, I look at exposure of product to the masses, how often the app gets updated past bug fixes, what kind of impact would it be for me if the app disappeared the next day, and can I export all of my app data if need be. With Strongbox and Minimalism, the boxes are checked for me. While I am using Apple Keychain with the app as much as I can, I also wanted to protect myself in case I can't access my Apple account, hence other backup programs. I have been very pleased with Strongbox and Minimalism (albeit the latter doesn't yet support multiple vaults).

1Password can disappear right now and go bankrupt, but I’ll still have access to my passwords. I’ll just export them, and move to a different one.

I have no experience with it, but I wouldn't use it.

It's a 10 month old project. I could find very little about the company, its track record, or any support forums showing people actually using the product in earnest. The website has almost nothing to say other than its press kit saying

"Foyer Objet Inc. — an independent team of two based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada."

I can't imagine exposing my critical and sensitive information to it without a lot more vetting.

The GUI looks nice but personally I look for trust and security and that app seems to be made by obscure people.

check out my first post in this thread that has all the more known password vendors. I put small warning on smaller projects.

I went with Bitwarden and its great for personal use. Once you want to do multiple vaults and sharing it gets ugly. 1password and other might have much user friendly options. They do have a families plan for $3.3 month but I have not tried it.

I went with Enpass years ago and still use it today. My primary reason was because at the time it was the only password manager that did not store my passwords at all. All my PW's were stored locally. Many saw that as a disadvantage, they could not login on any device and access their passwords. I saw that as a security risk. Nowadays I also sync Enpass via iCloud to my other Apple devices. It is encrypted by Enpass and again by iCloud that's 256 bit encryption X 2. Doesn't get much safer than that.
Apple_Robert in post #2,826 (wow) mentioned Access Passwords Companion https://access.foyerobjet.com/
I'd certainly be willing to give that a try if I was just starting out. Especially if I was using Apple Passwords alone. It even works on Apple Watch. I have to use Cheat Sheet or Snip Notes for that.

I’ve used 1Password since the early days before subscriptions and continue to do so despite not being a fan of subs for every app under the sun. I’ve deleted a lot of apps that went sub based and kept a few. The key is choosing which apps are most important for your everyday use and I can’t think of an app more important than a password manager.

You guys do realize "Access" is not a password manager (for websites) I tried it and it perfectly imported my 1Password 7 "extras" but it DOES NOT store or manage passwords. It leaves this entirely up to the Apple Passwords app. It actually has the same interface as the Passwords app but contained the tiles Payment Cards, Documents, Passports, Bank Accounts, etc. For someone using only the Passwords app it would be an awesome additional app. Apple just needs add additional tiles to their app.

They would have access to my passwords once they are displayed in their app. I'm guessing that one would have to grant their app permission to access the keychain (maybe called something different in a popup) to get at the passwords. Did you have to do that?

I agree, I'll keep 1Password at least as long as the subscription is discounted. Don't have the numbers in head, but it was a few years at least.
Then I might go for a cheaper but just as reliable option, but it doesn't need to look just as good as 1P.
Best option is if Apple's have improved, so I can save the fee to my Apple purchases instead.
