Side road detour still related to subject mater. Does anyone know of a password app for the watch that will let me view all my information, instead of being limited to manually adding a few items like 1Passord and several others do?

Yesterday I purchased a lifetime license for StrongBox Pro after confirming support for Password Autofill on non-Safari browsers. Following the helpful setup wizards, it took me 20 minutes to export my 1Password database and import it into StrongBox and then configure sync amongst my iOS and macOS devices via WEBDAV server running on a Synology box. Still reviewing the results but the entries look good, including attachments. For my use case, i.e. daily driver is macOS, not Windows or Linux, Strongbox features and UI are more than sufficient to replace an aging 1Password perpetual license. Happy to have finally completed the migration, something I had planned ever since AgileBits shifted to subscriptions and also chose to drop local sync support.

I really like Strongbox. I have been using it for about 3.5 years. Good to see another convert from 1Password to SB.

Nice ad.

No, it doesn't work that way. Some apps give you both. Can you explain how you have this on Linux or Windows? The site doesn't say it's cross-platform. Seems odd to not explain that...

What is with the people on these forums that demand that I explain myself so they won’t have to do their own research? No I will not explain how this works on Linux or Windows as this is not a Linux or Windows forum. You should never trust someone else’s research without doing your own to corroborate the information anyway. Instead please do your own research. Do you realize how easy it is to type pwSafe into a search engine or look into various TLD’s to possibly come up with pwsafe.org? I can’t possibly be the only person on these forms that actually uses their brain.

EDIT: please forgive my outburst, but I grew up in the 60s and 70s when laziness, comfort and convenience weren’t valued.. we valued truth and fact. These days laziness, comfort and convenience seem to be the only things that people value while truth and fact are often dismissed out of hand.

This program looks like it is from the 1980s...

Physical appearance has little value. I could wrap a pile of dog droppings in the most beautiful wrapping paper and bow you’ve ever seen, it would be beautiful on the outside. If you actually use this app on iOS or macOS, you’ll find it actually looks quite recent.. I've been using it for years.

No, this isn't laziness. The link you posted shows only MacOS and iOS versions.

I hate people that say "do your research" -- I literally researched the link you gave, and it made no sense. So stuff your outburst, and sit there in your wrongness. If it can be run in Windows or Linux, your information was wildly incomplete.

You forgot the to me. Look, there are plenty of programs that allow a person to have their cake and eat it too, as it were. Strongbox, mentioned above, allows everything in an open-source format, so KeePass works for Windows and it looks aesthetically great in Mac and iOS.

Bitwarden, which I currently use, is like $12 a year and meets all the requirements and looks great!

So you are somewhat correct in that if a program has superior functionality then aesthetic deficiencies can be overlooked, but in this case there is no need in my opinion.

Did you happen to look in the bottom left-hand corner under the Android and iOS icons at pwsafe.org.. it has 3 links for Windows and 2 links for Linux. You really need to pay attention to what you’re doing. That’s exactly why my outburst was necessary.

You can’t have your cake and eat it too.. and you can’t judge a book by its cover. The quickest way to “sell someone their own shoes” is to make something look visually/mentally appealing on the outside. If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

I dislike beauty and convenience. Convenience is there to alleviate the user of work, it adds more code and more complexity.. which opens the door for more bugs and vulnerabilities that can be exploited to circumvent security. Convenience contributes to laziness, ignorance and the inability to learn from one’s mistakes.

I do, however, respect your opinion.

Have you got an answer to my relevant question from yesterday: “How is pwSafe 2 more secure than 1Password?”

Did I state that pwSafe 2 is more secure than 1Password?
You didn’t state that directly, but here are your words: “Keep in mind that security and convenience are opposite ends of the same line, the closer you get to one the further away you travel from the other. You cannot have total convenience and total security at the same time.. you are going to have to choose one.”

I think that, generally, people feel that 1Password is very convenient. So from your statements, I deduced that you believed that 1Password was in some way insecure.

I have installed it on my iPhone and Mac and it's really fast. Not gonna lie, I can sense it's a small app coded directly for Mac. Not a humongous app written in Electron. I like it!
I finally got my phone and Mac both listed under the Devices tab. Once I got that square, I had to delete my Bitwarden vault (it was out of date), export a copy of my Strongbox vault, import back into Bitwarden, and then export said copy so I could then import to Secrets.

Initial findings:

1) the app is sorely lacking in directions to guide a new user in setting up a new vault in a timely manner
2) I find several of the user options small and easy to overlook. If there was text mouse overs with the different settings options, it would make things easier for a new user.
3) The app on Mac and iPhone is really fast as is the syncing between device vaults
4) I like the option to keep the vault local
5) I like that the app doesn't require registering an account
6) I like that there aren't a plethora of optional setting menus to get lost in
7) I like that there is a one step process to reset the app
8) I like having the ability to create multiple vaults
9) I find the lifetime price to be reasonable (even though it is free today)

You may have already seen this, but would the Secrets support page have anything to help with item number 1?

I did see that page albeit not as soon as I should have. A contextual link from the app would have been helpful. I found the process of device pairing a little convoluted and several times I didn't get the acceptance alert. I believe the process is ithis way for added security of the vault.

I forgot to mention I also like that the vault and parts thereof can easily be shared although said feature is not applicable to be at this point in time.

If you have time time please send feedback to the developer [https://secrets.app/support/faq/] so that subsequent versions are better for all of us that will use Secrets 4

Your link went to the apple download page, which has dev info as pwsafe.info, where none of that is linked. I still don't know how the .org and .info sites/app work together, because that's not apparent either.

Good luck with that, champ. And before you drop a "do your research", do your own.

I feel it is best to take this to private message so we don’t fill the thread with off-topic content.
