When I run it on my MacBook 6,2 it doesn't look like that. It looks more similar to something generated by typing uuidgen into terminal.
Your macbook is officially supported anyway. On my rMBP 11.1 it runs without "system-id failed" line as well, it would be surprise if it didn't.
I'm looking for another "not-suitable-for-Yosemite" old mac machine or hackintosh that could run Messages even despite failing system-id test in iMessagesdebug tool (v2) /version 2 has more alined output/

You asked me to run it on "any Yosemite machine" so I did. On my Hackintosh I inject a custom UUID because my boards UUID is normally all F's.

Sorry I wasn't eloquent enough. I'm just trying to figure out if it's my "good" original credential banned or they got messed somehow during reflash/installation.
It will probably worth asking to check iMessangeDebug tool only those who reflashed 1.1 to 2.1.

Can't help you there. Still needs a new board.

you mean I need to change mainboard to run Message? :))
i can confirm that 1.1 to 2.1 flashing is not affecting anything in that case. I've tried downgrading with no results

No I mean that my flashed MacPro 1,1 is sitting behind me with a dead logic board so I cannot run the iMessage Debug tool to help you out. I need to replace the board in it sometime so that I can tinker with it again.

ok, thanks for support. Meanwhile I will wait for ElCapitan release to try my luck with new clean installation. Maybe I will try clover / chameleon method to inject ID's if Message fails again

I have the same problem!
The reason why I couldn't boot into the recovery disk was that my startup disk was connected to one of the spare SATA connectors of the Mac Pro. Once I connected it back to one of the "normal" bays "Command R" worked. Unfortunately I found out only after I had completely reinstalled the system...

I have OS X Yosemite successfully installed on four mac pro 1.1s (installing them in a lab at UC Berkeley for basic use needs). I'm having an issue though. Now that it's installed I'm having all of my apps installers freeze on the "preparing to install" stage of the installation. This includes ROXIO Toast, Adobe CC 2015, and Office 2015. None of them install and simply hang. I also tried installing Xcode from the app store and it simply hangs after I click agree to install. Did I do something wrong on the initial install of OS X? Or is there a larger issue at work? Anyone have any ideas? Attached are screen shots of my system specs as well as a screen shot of the installers 'hanging.'

Never had an issue getting it activated, so I never ran the debug tool on it. Though I had to call about once a month and get it re-authorized.

I called once, and never had to call again. Messages and FaceTime work flawlessly for me.

After trying many search term combinations and reading through 70 of the 142 posts in this thread, i have decided to just ask...I have a mac pro 1,1, got the radeon 5770 card and 2 quad core 3.o processors ready to go, I am about to go through the steps to install yosemite. I have 2 questions. Once i have upgraded the firmware, video card and processors, will i be able to upgrade the ram speed to something faster than 667mhz?

Are there any problems with installing the yosemite on an ssd instead of a Sata?

I did almost exactly the same as you - Same graphics card, same CPU upgrade, installed Yosemite on SSD and upped the RAM to 32gb. I installed CPU upgrade first to make sure everything was working OK before doing the Yosemite install. I already had installed the 5770 as I had issues with the original X1900. I also use Temperature Monitor and SMC Fan Control to finely adjust the fan speed to keep temperatures good. I found as I installed the CPUs first under Snow Leopard the Temperature Monitor gave more readings for the CPUs which may be helpful to ensure the thermal paste / heat sink is correctly installed. Under Yosemite there are no separate core temps given. Do you mean any problems using SSD instead of HDD? SATA is the method of connection - The SSD still uses SATA - usually one of the drive bays using an adapter - or in an optical drive bay (with another adapter) If you choose this method, install it while the fan unit is removed for CPU upgrade as the SATA connector is behind the fan unit and the fans need removing to get to it.

Thanks for the advice. did you find that the ssd makes a big difference in operating speed? Also for the ram, are you limited to 667 Mhz chips?

Startup and launching apps is much faster than the HDD but I still have some files on hard drive as SSDs are still quite expensive per GB. I think with RAM you can use faster chips but they may only run at 667mhz. I have no first hand experience of this but I am sure I read it somewhere. Faster modules may be more expensive though. Crucial don't appear to sell them anymore (not in UK anyway) so I bought mine on ebay. To be honest, 32gb is a bit overkill but the price was good. I previously had 13gb installed and everything was OK until I opened loads of applications. It depends on what you are running I guess.

Ssd was latest upgrade I did hardware wise and as mentioned above. Things are snappy to open. Makes it fun to work again as apps were opening slower and slower with each upgrade (heavier and heavier)

... and one more thing that I almost forgot...

I had used trimforce in 10.10.4, to enable TRIM on my Crucial M500 SSD (maybe a month or two ago), and didn't think much more about it after that.

So today, when I was going through my usual "antique machine/what isn't working post-update check", I was pleasantly surprised to see that TRIM was still enabled after the 10.10.5 update.

I kinda forgot about using trimforce, so TRIM is normally one of the things I check after every update, expecting to have to mess with it again.

This is the first AppStore OS update I've done since using trimforce, and I'm VERY happy that the settings stuck !

I knew that it should have stayed enabled "in theory", but this was the first test (for me anyway).

Thanks Apple for finally letting us enable TRIM on 3rd party hardware !!
