A Mac Pro rev 1,1 with a ATI HD 4870 and normally monday an ATI 5870

There have been a few replies already. For some inexplicable reason I always use combo updates. As I have the same Mac as you I have multiple drives and on one of them is a copy of Snow Leopard.
Afetr the update I always hold option when the Mac restarts and boot into SL from where I replace the necessary boot.efi and plists.
I then boot back to 10.9

As long as you install TobyG's script right after you first install 10.9.0 you can update as normal without issue. It doesn't matter if you use the combo update or the delta updates the boot.efi files could be replaced as they are with the 10.9.2 update. Either way this discussion belongs on the Tiamo or Mavericks thread.

Absolutely.

problem with trim when using an sad

i have used the chameleon install method for my mac pro 1.1/2.1.

3 partitions on a hdd

1 = boot partition for chameleon 2 = installer partition
3 = Yosemite partition.

after that I used carbon copy cloner 4 beta to clone the yosemite
partition to an extra ssd .

Everything is fine but ...

when using chameleon SSD optimizer for the SSD I can't boot the
cloned SSD wit yosemite on it.

I get a prohibition sign. The booting process stops here.
Obviously the chameleon SSD optimizer breaks something on
the cloned yosemite system on ssd.

repeating the clone process with ccc works. After that i can't use
chameleon ssd optimizer or trim enabler.

is there a workaround.

Yosemite GM 1.0 working fine here with Clover r2774. It won't let me sign into iMessage again though. I have a feeling this is going to be an issue with every update.

I've sent you a private mail with news about promising prospects to get that and other issues solved.

woah, this is really, really good news! I left a comment at the author's blog so I can help to test his patch(es).

Great. I had already got in touch with him, but I myself can't help in the test phase, as I only have access to one old Mac Pro, but it's a production machine that can be shut down only exceptionally, unless I want angry customers to sue me.

I have the NASM assembler but honestly I am not sure what I am compiling and how it should be compiled. I left another reply on his blog. This is outside of my realm.

I updated my Clover install to r2936 and everything (besides iMessage) is still working great. It also appears to have fixed a bug that I was having with r2774 where I had to boot in verbose mode. I can now turn it off with r2396 and I get the all black screen with the white Apple logo and the progress bar. I didn't do any speed comparisons so I can't speak on that.

I think that the NASM must be integrated into the Visual Studio (see this Guide). When Visual Studio compiles the C++ files it should call the NASM then for the Assembler parts.

Update: I was able to successfully compile (2 succeeded, 0 failed, 0 skipped) the sources from Tiamo. A Boot.efi has been generated, same size as Tiamo's (461.312 bytes, but not the same MD5 checksum), it's the verbose version and - it boots .... :)

Continuity and Handoff options for a Mac Pro 1,1

I've read several threads about Continuity and Handoff options for unsupported machines (such as the old Mac Pro 1,1) planning to run Yosemite (through Chameleon or a Tiamo-like boot.efi), but I haven't found a final word as to how best to proceed.

Although there are at least two ASUS PCI adapters for 802.11ac connectivity, it appears that, compatible though that may be, I would still need a new Bluetooth LE adapter that can be plugged into another PCI slot, and I'm not sure which one to use, or whether all this would be immediately recognised by OS X without tweaking.

I've also found a vendor, called OSX WIFI (http://www.osxwifi.com) that sells what appear to be fully OS X-compatible hardware that include both 802.11ac and Bluetooth LE connectivity. The problem here is that I'm not sure whether I can install their APPLE BROADCOM BCM94360CD - 802.11 A/B/G/N/AC + BLUETOOTH 4.0 WITH ADAPTER FOR MACPRO 2008 (http://www.osxwifi.com/apple-broadco...or-macpro-2008) in my Mac Pro 2006 (I don't see where to plug the PCI adapter; it doesn't appear it can go at the back of the machine) or I should order something like their APPLE BROADCOM BCM94360CD - 802.11 A/B/G/N/AC + BLUETOOTH 4.0 WITH ADAPTER FOR PC/HACKINTOSH (http://www.osxwifi.com/apple-broadco...-pc-hackintosh), which can clearly be used as a standard PCI adapter.

If any of you has purchased either of these or a similar solution, or is knowledgable about them, will they care to clarify the issue? By any chance, do you know if this hardware can be recognised by Snow Leopard and/or Windows 7? Many thanks.

Note for the administrators: I mistakenly entered this same question in the Mac Pro thread. Please, remove it from there if you wish. Thank you.

MacVidCards sells an adapter that he has working in a 2,1. I personally haven't bought it or used it though. http://www.macvidcards.com/store/p33/Wifi_AC_&_Bluetooth_Airport_Card.html. It's the one for the 3,1.

Ok. NASM appeared to be a command line tool that could be used in terminal. I'll read the guide on the link you posted.
