Has anyone had any success in getting the phone (using iPhone) feature to work? It's interesting in that I can make and receive calls on my Mac Pro 1,1, but the microphone on my Logitech camera won't pick up my voice (although I can hear the caller just fine, they can't hear me). The microphone in the camera works in every other application, and works perfectly for dictation, which I use all the time.

Strange...

Same here. I tried the microphone on the USB Logitech webcam and also a ZOOM H1 via USB. No dice via either options I'm thinking it has to do with the message:

can't load kext com.apple.driver.AppleUSBAudio failed to load (0xdc00800e).

during startup even though it works in other applications.

Dear Hennesie2000,

I think (with the emphasis on think) that I followed your guide correctly, but the problem I encounter is that the installer tells me OS X can't be installed on my computer. Do you have an idea what goes wrong here? Where during the following of your guide did I stumble?

99% of the time, go back and check the quotation marks.

What do you mean exactly? You mean the part about board IDs inside the Distribution file?

I modified the two .plist files with PlistEdit. I could simply add a new sibling and didn't have to worry about quotation marks there.

Yes the distribution file. Text Edit will try to change them to italic quotes. These are called smart quotes.

The upgrade went fine following the .pdf instructions.

Only Messages are off.
The first time it asked for my apple id. keped trying to connect forever. Now it opens to an empty gray window. No errors or any code number for apple support.

Everything else works fine.

Thank you.

Gents,

I'm almost ready to install OS X Yosemite on my Mac Pro 1,1 "Firmware updated to 2,1". I had purchased the EVGA GTX 750ti graphics card, I was looking do for the Mac drivers on the GeForce website and I can't find any drivers for OS X. Any advise please?.

Thanks.

Thanks to Piker

Sent a donation. Have Yosemite installed on a 2006 Mac Pro. Appreciate those who did the work of the boot loader and the guide. Directions were spot on .

Sent a donation to Pike, few bucks but many "few bucks" could help him and thank him for his nice work :)

While the fact that they could care less is probably indicative of just how grossly profitable Apple has become as a corporation though I have always thought it curious that Apple has never sought out the Tiamo's and/or Pike Aplha's in possibly buying them out and stashing/shelving the mac OS X boot loader similar to the way the big auto makers have been doing for decades when highly advanced, ultra economical engines are invented before they can be produced for the masses.

Need a favor.

Looking to install Yosemite on my 2006 Xserve which (I believe) has a dead optical drive. I was planning to install Lion (via DVD) and check everything out, get my Board-ID, etc. but I think I'm going to skip that step now that I can't use the DVD. I have the installer created back from when I used the new boot.efi on my 1,1 Mac Pro (thanks, by the way - I'll be sure to kick in a few bucks as a donation) but I have no way to check my board-id on the Xserve. I've done a bit of googling, but I can't seem to find agreeing board-id's for a 1,1 Xserve. Does anyone know if:
1) the Board-IDs are Universal and therefore -
2) can someone provide me a Board-ID so I can properly insert it?

Thanks again.

So I am a little stuck and I am not sure why. Could anyone chime in as to where I might have gone wrong? Created the Install USB, restart Mac Pro 1,1 holding option, choose USB. I get a black screen with white Apple logo. Progress bar gets to about 1/3 across and the screen goes black. Nothing else happens so I force a restart. I double checked the Quote marks in the Distribution file. Double checked I moved the correct boot.fi (black) to Core Services and usr/standalone...

I'd love a clue if someone doesn't mind throwing me a bone.

Thanks!

Try using the grey boot.efi.
