Since you have a 6770m a k2100m makes the most sense as a drop in replacement for you. If you use a larger card on an MXM-A heatsink certain components will not be covered. If you want backlight control you can also use Open Core with the k2100m for proper backlight control.
Did you flash the card with VBios from post #1?uffff... my GTX 860 has an Black screen is my card broken?
boot "noise" black screen..... 20 sec... Fan is loud "black screen" ...i switch to my AMD 6770 and this card is working..... can anyone help me?
must i buy an new card i will usw catalina and this amd card has no acceleration and no transperancy
I bought one heatskink from eBay (France, PlaceDuMac). Don't use nothing on the back of the card (like copper pads). The card doesn't need it. Mod the heatskink to perfect assembly the mxm card, use good thermal pads and paste. And use a small x-bracket, not the larger one (if you have a 6770, that x-bracket would be perfect). Thanks, that's a shame as I was looking to use a GTX 770m. Has anyone in this thread successfully used cooling mods like copper shims long term that you know of?

Exactly. And the K2100m is a good enough card.Since you have a 6770m a k2100m makes the most sense as a drop in replacement for you. I did some gaming on Bootcamp yesterday. The 6770m could barely maintained 20fps on overwatch on low.
The k2100m last night games at 60fps (54fps 1%low) at 1080p medium settings. The improvement is massive.
If trying to flash with an HP card you most likely need to use a clip to flash. From what I read there is no external display trying to flash with the HP ROM. I also read you could SSH flash blindly with Linux, but that likely requires a decent amount of preparation setting up wifi copying files to directories etc.Yeah I think you might be right! I'd really love to use a GTX 770 but buying a new heatsink to upgrade to such an old card might be too much. Have you played any other games with your K2100M?
I found this thing on eBay - an HP K2100m, looks like its a regular MXM form factor in a huge heatsink / fan case thing. anyone know if I could take that lot off to reveal something I could use?
here's another pic:
That’s subject your HP card comes with a VBIOS chip which is unlikely. That’s why DELL cards are a must.If trying to flash with an HP card you most likely need to use a clip to flash. Also with a clip it may appear all pins are touching the legs of the EEPROM but it could be slightly off. Just fair warning. But I have always had success with flashing my cards.
ALL the HP K1100M and K2100M cards I have seen have a rom chip without exception. That’s subject your HP card comes with a VBIOS chip which is unlikely. That’s why DELL cards are a must.
Yup which is not what is being modified here.ALL the HP K1100M and K2100M cards I have seen have a rom chip without exception.
look like card is dead
3rd led off means motherboard can't contact graphic card
try to connect to your imac via another computer using a usb stick like if you want to flash the graphic card
etablish connection then use nvflash
if no nvida card found you will get the answer.... RIP

Under high sierra the card is working but catalina black screen hä....
I installed an HP K2100m with zero difficulty. I used the Linux USB and SSH to update the firmware. It was honestly quite easy. That’s subject your HP card comes with a VBIOS chip which is unlikely. That’s why DELL cards are a must.
You can find some plug and play cards on AliExpress, or eBay.Hi guys,
it is amazing to see that a lot of people want to revive their 2011 iMacs aswell. It is a fantastic machine and I would love to use it regularly again. For that to happen, it needs to have Catalina running. Since the inital post is quite old and I cannot read 206 pages, my question is:
Would anybody be so kind to update me on the latest status? I want my 27 inch late 2011 to run Catalina smoothly.
Is there any GPU recommended that does not need requiere a flash, is plug and play compatible and still offers backlight control and sidecar?
I have to open my imac anyways to swap the PSU.
Thanks a lot
No, there is no such GPU here!Is there any GPU recommended that does not need requiere a flash, is plug and play compatible and still offers backlight control and sidecar?
