you think that has to do with the color profile?
It depends, maybe night shift is activated and as the day falls color temperature changes automatically on screen, i mean it could be warmer between late afternoon and early morning if nightshift is activated. Or if it's not the case you can grade your screen.

Use the arrows to select the partition you want. After that hit CTRL + Enter instead of just Enter. If you don't want to see the picker anymore, you can go into OpenCore Configurator and uncheck ShowPicker. More info here: THIS POST

New to this community and trying a hand at fixing my iMac. I have a late 2009 27-inch i5 iMac 2.66GH, model 11,1. I have to upgrade the GPU from the ATI Radeon 4850 512M. From reading all the posts it looks like the NVIDIA Quadro K1100M is the best option for my model? Additionally, since my machine came with only 512MB card, what's the max GB GPU I should buy? The 1GB or the 2GB one? I have never done anything like this, but looking forward to opening up the iMac and doing some upgrades. Just need guidance as to which card/size and where to buy. Thanks.

My english is very limited, if I follow these instructions for my iMac 2011 21 '' with Nvidia K2000m it boots but before the login screen comes it makes a reset. With an older Catalina Loader here from the board everything goes, also the external monitor but no graphic layout in Opencore and no possibility to paint something, just pay. I can't get a running EFI, someone can help me and one for me create my imac

1. K2100m is a more recent model. Here are the differences between the two: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Quadro-K2100M-vs-Quadro-K2000M_4832_3237.247598.0.html
2. If you look six posts higher #5,790, you will see a fantastic post from moi-même! That will answer your question.

I HIGHLY recommend that you read the first page before posting. Your question has been asked many times.

Cheers!
Yes as explained by Nick the k2100m/k1100m are newer revisions and because of this, it was easier for those VBIOS's to be manipulated for backlight control.

You may delete one of your double post :)
Please buy exactly the cards listed on page one of this thread. In your case here the 2GB version - not sure if the vBIOS will work without modifications on a 1GB card. There was one member here testing such a limited card, just search the thread.

Thank you for the response and suggestions. I actually can't seem to figure out how to delete that duplicate post :) . So just to understand, this one would be good?

Do you know if I need to replace anything else, like the heatsink? Or simply swap out this card for my dead one?

Sadly the eBay source has sold out now. Good buy at $38.
They are back, from the same seller for more than double the price.

Someone at ascendtech must be eyeing this thread. Imagine what you could ask if you sold them pre-flashed! ;)

At $38 they were a good buy, but not at $80. If they get left holding a lot of stock, the price might drop again, when I would buy again. Worth keeping an eye on.

@Nick [D]vB Any Chance you could take a look at the K610m I posted yesterday? It seems to be almost there already, just needs a boot screen and injecting backlight control. It’s also got the added benefit of being super cheap and semi readily available. I’ve got the card in a temporary machine if there’s anything you need from me testing wise.

Thank you guys. Question, which is better, NVIDIA Quadro K1100M or NVIDIA GTX 765M?

Arggh, I was given a 24" 2009 iMac with dead video. I was hoping it was a model with an MXM card but disassembly soon showed it isn't. Heat-gunned the nVidia chip at 200°C for 8 minutes but NG.
Breaking for parts.

Why are you using OpenCore with K2000m?

Without OpenCore I have no boot screen and no picture when logging in. Furthermore, my mDP-4KHDMI and my Acer 27er do not work. If I start with Alt I have a boot screen and an image but not with the mDP adapter because I have no image.

At Mojave, everyone works without a boot screen, which I only have when I start with ALT.

With OpenCore I have a boot screen and the mDP adapter also works.

With the EFI in the appendix everything works but without OC Gui and when I connect the external hard drive for backups he always tries to boot from the external via OC but not from the macOS hard drive it is just an old version of OC with the newer version from here there is always a reset before the login screen comes

I guess you misunderstand the Apple boot screen feature entirely.
The normal behavior is to have and see a boot screen only and only if you press the alt/option key on startup.

Video cards without a customized vBIOS would not give you this! That is one reason to flash the cards.

You may use OC to get this additional boot screen if you like, but it is for many other users annoying to see it on every boot. They try to get it away using the guide @herrdude provided and which could be luckily found reading page one ...

I don't see an apple with a loading bar without OpenCore, I only have an image in macOS. At Catalina I have no picture in macOS. I only have an image when I start with ALT or start with OpenCore.

With OpenCore with the EFI I attached everything goes. If I connect the external time machine Bacckup hard drive at boot OC always wants to boot from the backup but it should boot the normal Catalina. I can't get the OC to always boot from the same partition in OpenCore Boot Menu, the backup is always selected automatically

Hi,

I had a look in your working EFI, your config.plist is nearly empty, it does not load essential efi driver (FwRuntimeServices.efi), no kexts!?!?

Hey... I spy some pads for an mxm interface over there... break out the soldering iron! Haha :)

Yes I have everything through but so far this is the only executable EFI partition, otherwise the mDP adapter is no longer. I have been trying to create an executable EFI for 2 days. If I take the OC version linked here, the mDP adapter is no longer working? OC is completely new territory for me.

With the EFI that I have uploaded, everything works, but OC does not select the correct partition automatically

Maybe you should try at least to make FwRuntimeServices.efi loading.
