This different size no error! Ignore it. The cause has been explained here several times. Just use the search button to find it yourself.
The mismatch is probably one. Since you have a used card you may always encounter problems with (half) broken cards. We cannot help with this.

I soon figured that out lol
I ended up figuring out the flashing however.

After running the command to flash, it worked in a matter of a couple minutes, and after rebooting my iMac screen lite up once again.

Thank you all for your work in making this stuff possible
It's really amazing the customization of these machines

Of course, I know you good people try to make best possible things without wasting cash for you and people. and I'm thankfully for that. 😇
from what've read in past posts, the iMac 2011 hasn't really been tested (am I wrong?) with these two cards (Dell's 109-C98581-00_02 and 109-C98581-00D_02) but you people did for 2009 and 2010 iMacs.
I ask that this text mentions to which model number in first page wiki?: 🤨
"These WX 4130/4150 are not detected by the 2011 iMacs for unknown reason, and therefore are currently incompatible"
I count on Chris Rual David Maitin for the results.....

I wonder why we are talking about 2009 and 2010 iMac? this thread subject is "2011 iMac Graphics Card Upgrade" 😜 at least change the year.....

All you agree is that Blue HP 109-c98581-10-02 does not work.
Did you had or tested 109-C98581-00D_02 (with D letter) on your 2011 iMac? for confirmation just.
Please don't forget to take pictures both sides of GPU Card, with described iMac's specification.
Thanks again! 🙂

from my research if you search WX4150 with 109-c9851-00_02 GPU model are only green..... not seen blue 109-c9851-00_02, which makes easier to find out with carefully not to mistake with D Letter 109-c9851-00D_02 or different numbers.

There are few other 109-c9851-00_02 GPU on AliExpress, one example Link: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000307284366.html
wonder what is 2G and 4G cable length for this item? 😟 or 2GB and 4GB? 😝

I've got an WX4150 card with code 109-C98581-00D_02. I am still busy so I can't bring the to my friend's studio to test it with his 21.5" 2011 iMac. I bought this card from one of seller in Taobao.com.

Are there any upgrade graphics card that do not require flashing? I'd love a plug-n-play option.
If you mean "buy them" and install it. new non apple cards
No, and yes. But that's not the goal of this topic.
But in a summary,
There are NEW non apple cards that work. Can't say witch one's.
But no boot picker, and no native brightnes control
So no, not really plug and play cards in that matter
If you expect to have a all functional imac.

im going to to do some test with the hp card 02_10 but im going to try the vbios that is posted on the 1st page and see if there is any difference in the imac i tryed with wx4150gop.rom and that rom just made my imac turn on and off and the model i have is a 2gb version and may that gop vbiso was for a 4gb card or something but i want to now why that vbiso didnt work at all on that card im also wornding if the memory chips on the card has something to do with it i could be wrong about but like i tryed micron ram stick in my imac 2011 and the were 12800s and thos did not work at all in that imac i could be wrong but is pc3-12800s is 1600mhz and 106000s is 1333mhz ive always seen that with like sandy bridge that the mother bord will down clock the ram to 1333 mhz if its a 12800s cuz i have four of them ram sticks in my imac with 12800s but im going to do some more test with that hp card i have tho just to make sure and if it dose work then i now it was the wx4150 gop vbiso and all the 00 cards and 00d cards have sam memory chips on them its wild that if that could be the case with the memory chips but i will report back wen i do that test to see
The number on the card is for the PCB only - it doesn't specifiy how the board is populated with components. There are 2 GB (WX4130) and 4 GB (WX4150, RX560) cards with that same board. And so far we have seen at least three variants of how the 4 GB boards are populated - apart from the RAM chips.
The RX560 2 GB VBIOS supports the following RAM chips:
  • K4G41325FE (SAMSUNG)
  • EDW4032BAB (ELPIDA)
The RX560 4 GB VBIOS supports the following RAM chips:
  • K4G80325FB (SAMSUNG)
  • MT51J256M3 (MICRON)
  • H5GC8H24MJ (HYNIX_3)
The WX4150 GOP VBIOS supports the following RAM chips:
  • K4G80325FB (SAMSUNG)
  • MT51J256M3 (MICRON)
and will the vbiso file work with that hp card thats on the fornt page or is it only for dell cards and thanks for your insight on this
The WX4150 GOP VBIOS originally came from an HP WX4150 109-C98581-10-02.
The RX560 VBIOS originally came from a Dell RX560 109-C98581-00D-02. The 2 GB and 4 GB versions only differ in the RAM timing tables - I took the table from a WX4130 VBIOS and replaced the table in the RX560 VBIOS with that.
Edit: I cannot tell whether the RX560 VBIOS works on a 109-C98581-10-02 based board since it didn't boot at all in the iMacs. Maybe @highvoltage12v could test that in his HP machine? But I'm not sure whether his HP machine uses the VBIOS contents at all.

Well, they obviously have been tested in both 2009/2010 and 2011 iMacs (with one exception) - behind the scenes, and only secure information has been added to the first post.

I've got a blue HP 109-C9851-00_02 based card working in my 27" late 2009 core i5.
And as I don't have any 2011 iMac this type of card hasn't been tested in a 2011 iMac yet - at least no one reported a test result here yet.

Hi Guys.

First post.

This thread and the work done here is some of the most impressive I've seen in a long time.
It's not easy working on undocumented and unsupported bios mods I'm sure. Thank you for your hard work.

I just fixed up a broken 27" iMac late 2009. Had to replace the logic board as it was rebooting after 2 minutes of runtime. I also upgraded the CPU to an i7 860 now. Memory up to 20gb. And an SSD. Cleaned out the cobwebs inside and she's running fast as can be! It feels good to be able to reclaim and recycle older tech that is still so elegant. These older machines ability to be upgraded (memory, cpu, gpu) are much preferred over the newer soldered on memory Apple is going towards these last few years. One more reason I've stopped buying and refuse to buy newer macs that are limited in this way. Us old school guys just consider it an insult to pay so much for a bit more memory, etc.

Anyway, two weeks ago I ordered a K3000m (N12E-Q1-A1) before the ROM was pulled. I didn't download the ROM at the time unfortunately. So for now it seems I will have to wait patiently.

But I have the card in hand now as of yesterday so I'm a willing beta tester for you @nikey22 if you're in search of additional beta testers. Or if someone wants to send me the originally posted ROM. I intend to use the @xanderon method of flashing it as it seems the most streamlined method out there yet. Thank you to you both for sharing the fruits of your skill set. I for one am supremely grateful. I look forward to getting dark mode going on this via Mojave.

In the meantime I have been reading this entire thread for several weeks now and will continue to as there's a lot to wrap your head around on the fine details of each card and setup limits/requirements. It's all very fascinating though.

Anyway, thank you to the research scientists among us. I'd love to build the skills to be able to contribute, so I'm interested in any resources that could train me up in the most optimal way. If you know of any PM them over. I'll be on the hunt for more knowledge on my own regardless.

Thanks everyone.

You would be surprised that flashing isn't that difficult. The most difficult part is taking the iMac apart. After you have taken it apart, you install the new graphics card, disconnect the hard-drive(s) and connect the Linux USB . From another computer, you can SSH into the iMac to flash the GPU.

Here is a guy who made a video of step by step on YouTube.

On a side note, I can't believe he doesn't give credit where credit is due. He moved the files to his Google Drive. Not cool.

Yeah that’s semi cool. On the one hand videos and extra explanations like this helps a lot of people not able to read longer threads like this one. Cool.

not cool: the files don’t belong on your google drive. Every link should go directly to the posts of the people that created that stuff. That would be nice to highlight who did what.

also not cool: not getting my name right. Its xanderon and not xanderson. thanks in advance for correcting some errors and give credits to people in this thread on this platform.

Thank you so much herrdude for the post to that past link. I'd just seen that earlier but wasn't quite sure it was a good idea or not to use it as my card is a Dell version and that was the bios for the HP, so thought I should wait for the latest version of @nikey22's version. So is that HP bios actually an option for me for my Dell card? If so I can test it out if you recommend it. I assumed it was just an unedited HP bios and therefore not usable for me. There wasn't a lot of confirmation in that post that it was usable for us for our imacs from what I could read. But again, thank you. I'm glad to test it out! I was fortunate that someone already sent me the last version of nikey22's bios release that was pulled for now. Was going to test that out in the next few hours once I pull out and dremelize my heatsink. :)

Yeah. I was going to share his video for others here once I'd tried it. He has another newer video showing the 'easy' steps to do the flashing. I won't post his other video here unless you say it's alright. His newer video is called "Easy Mode: iMac GPU vbios Flash"

I appreciate his videos as it helps tremendously to see things end-to-end oftentimes. I hadn't noticed he didn't post credit back here though. That is not cool. I'll post on his YT video that he should consider taking a minute to do so.

..Oh, actually in the show notes he has a link back to this forum pointing to xanderon's post #4363. So that's good. He thanks him at the end of the video.

Thank you again!

Unfortunately, in the video that I linked, he doesn't give credit.

Also, I can't say for the K3000m, however for K1100m and K2100m (and I believe K1000m) it doesn't matter that it is HP or Dell.

Good luck!

no troubles at all

yep, figured it out! I was running the flash command in the wrong folder 😅

but got it figured out and all is good!
Thank you for providing the steps in how you flashed this card...

before I found your post I wasn’t sure if it should be run similar to k4100 or the other Quadros or not!
Thank you!

an available blue HP 109-C9851-00_02 working on your iMac 2009.... so then we're missing testers and information.
May I know if a one (HP or Dell) 109-C9851-00_02 didn't work on your any iMacs?
Why not list these models in somewhere? the tested model number and non-tested and which iMacs tested? 🙂

We did not list any result, because we had mixed results. Cards have the same number and same source sometimes work and sometimes not. The other reason - frankly speaking - is the consumer alike "give my a free lunch" attitude of a lot of people demanding more and better information and documentation. This is a community effort. This cannot work out if 99% are sitting back in a chair until a few spend money and a lot of time into experiments. You already have the choice out of nearly 20 different cards - all inventions of the past 9 months - and it is still not good enough.

You are welcome to buy another version of such a card, check it out and post the results.

I have said it before and I am saying it again. I think that card should be removed from the table. It doesn't work consistently enough. It can be put after the table with a warning message in flashing red and bold: BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK. Too many discussions take place in this thread about this card and the end result is the buyer would have better chances in Las Vegas.

As you said, @Ausdauersportler, there are MANY other and BETTER choices.

Just for the records:

Big Sur Public Beta 2 is running on an iMac 27" 2011 with 780M/K4100M and BCM94360CD/BCM943602CDP.
Currently no installation on AMD (WX4170) based system successful or even possible. Reason unknown...

More general:
Big Sur can be installed probably on every Nvidia upgraded systems and will have AirDrop, Continuity, and HandOff, and Wifi without further patches if you also upgrade the BT card...currently no H.264 working.
