I did used Catalina Patcher 1.4.4 to create a 10.15.7 installer. It works here. You should try again(downloading new files?).
Well, I had tried 3 times, two times from Mojave and one time from Catalina ... and I would assume that corrupted pkgs or dmgs should be detected automatically ...

iMac 2011 21,5'' and WX4150.
I tried to install a WX4150 in an iMac 2011 21,5'' and it works. It was an HP card coming from a ZBook.
No need to say i took extra care, assembling graphic card and heatsink, putting some tape where i thought it could be needed to protect from potential shorts.
Well, there are two types of HP cards. I have an HP WX4150, too. But mine has an AMD logo on the board while the non working one has an HP logo on it. You *MUST* post photos of your board here, or you might trigger a disaster...

my iMac 2011 21.5" on High Sierra got new Update: Security Update 2020-005 High Sierra

my firmware seems to be same as before after updating "Security Update 2020-005 High Sierra".
Boot ROM Version: 87.0.0.0.0
SMC Version (system): 1.71f22

This site (or the first page of this thread link is available) says the updates may not directly tells if a new firmware upgrade is available, so it may merged with update software MacOS.
these updates always breaks the Night Shift patch, I have to reapply them all time!
Just for report news.
Why do you use a patcher to update High Sierra on these machines? All iMac models from late 2009 until mid 2011 are supported with High Sierra.

I did reset nvram, but no good news.

Anyone knows that if the error message "Chip Main Memory with the contents are in disagreement" is normal?
Probably you check out the website where you got the software from, use another of the big search machines to get an answer.
An error message comes up if an error occurs. So there must be a faulty bios chip, a badly seated clip, or a damaged software installation. All if this can only be checked by you.
The first thing I do with flashrom and a clip is reading the contents at least one time before writing anything.
Non writable BIOS chips are rare...but faulty cards you see all the time here reported. Take your pick.

Sure, i will do photos next time i reopened this imac to change the processor. I was not pretty confident in the fact it will work when i installed this card, all known reports saying that wx4150 and imacs 2011 are incompatibles. I just wanted to try and was ready to reopen the iMac because it will surely not work, so i didn't took photos before, thinking i''ll do it after removing the card because of failure. But unexpectedly it worked.

@dosdude1 Catalina Patcher 1.4.4: Install to disk with late 2009 and mid 2010 models

The Catalina Patcher has a method to install a downloaded and patched image directly onto the running system for a while. Unfortunately you cannot get around the automatic patching using this method. This ends up on the late 2009 and mid 2010 models with getting the unwanted und unnecessary Legacy Video Patch installed.

There is a way to modify the Patcher in a way to avoid the installation of this Legacy Video Patch. Take a look at the attachments, there is the location of the plist file named macmodels.plist documented and I added an already modified plist file. You just need to replace this or delete the lines within the red circles. Basically you get the same settings as for the 12,1 and 12,2 models from mid 2011.

Of course you need this patch to be applied to the patcher each time you download the patcher again. So keep this patcher until @dosdude1 publishes a new one. I have checked the functionality out by now on a single late 2009 system! This is nice short cut avoiding the creation of endless series of (sometimes not working) USB installers.

To open the contents of the @dosdude1 patcher file (which is in reality a folder) just right click on the file and chose open "show package contents". If you have never done such a patching have fun!

Please report success or errors...

EDIT:

Recently @bcdc13 found out how to enable the watch unlock with Catalina and WiFi upgrades. The secret is to disable the installation of the legacy wifi patch the same way I disabled the legacy video patch. I have added new plist files for disabling the video patch and a second version to disable both legacy wifi and legacy video. Simply delete the entries within your own @dosdude1 installer.

The WX 4170 HP spare I bought back in January turned out to be an AMD labeled card. The other card I got in the same shipment had an HP label, no BIOS chip on board, and was not usable at all.

Currently I would agree that Dell and AMD labeled cards have good chances to work in 2011 systems ... but most sellers even on eBay do not disclose original product photos and are not able to describe the product correctly.

We had the very same discussion with the 7100 in the past.

Note:
I had recently K3100M and K4100M cards refuse to work in certain 2011 systems showing the same quarter-spin POST symptom as the non working 7100 and 41X0 cards showed while running fine later in other 2011 systems. Reason unknown.

Found out that the 10.5.7 installer created by Catalina Patcher 1.4.4 works only when booted by OpenCore, it doesn't when booted directly by Apple EFI firmware.

My HP WX4150 works, with a small issue.
(Maybe I got lucky, maybe you won't be lucky as I am, bear that in mind if you ever buy your own HP WX4150)

Photo is in this post. #76

I used GOP ROM to flash, I used a HP 800G1 USDT, Windows 10, and Atiwinflash.
The link to the ROM is next to WX4170 in the table on #1

After install it to my iMac 2010 (running High Sierra), I powered it on.
Normal chime, normal quiet fans, the machine was cool, nothing went crazy.
But the screen was pit black (no light, at all), however long I waited, reset NVRAM, etc....
Feeling despair, I hooked it to the HP 800 G1 to see if Target Display Mode work, before reporting here for any suggestion.
Target Display Mode did work. Windows recognized the 2k resolution, and display beautifully.
What a relief! I didn't screw up with the installation. (or did I?)
So I turn-off the Windows PC, thinking about putting back the HP5670 to my iMac.
...
What the hell? I saw the log-in screen on my iMac...
And I log-in....

Now I got a Radeon Polaris 4096MB GPU recognized already...

With brightness control, yes.
Sleep mode: Yes.
Just have to kick-start it with Target Display Mode ....

If your HP WX4150 behaved the same, maybe you could try Target Display Mode as I did. (This is for your guys who already bought the HP cards, I do not encourage you to buy HP WX4150, it's risky.)

P/S 1: I edited my post adding (running High Sierra) in case I change my signature later. It may sound inconsistent with internetzel's post below, but he was giving me great advice on the OS version.

P/S2: When I connected my Dell 2407WFP to the miniDisplayport (miniDisplayPort to D-SU adapter), it just worked and displayed on both screens. No need to KickStart anymore. I now have a computer I can write home about.

Thank you all, I admire your works a lot. Greatly appreciate!

I need that kickstarting only for High Sierra. Mojave and Catalina don't need it - for my Dell compatible HP WX4150 (yours is not Dell compatible).
If your signature is correct you are running High Sierra on your 2010 iMac. So maybe you won't need TDM on Mojave and later.

Yes, I'm running High Sierra right now.
Thank you for your info.
I will definitely upgrade to Catalina, hoping that it will spare me from the kickstarting solution.
....
Damned, I should have upgraded to Catalina before installing this WX4150, without bootscreen, it's impossible to upgrade. (reformat the drive to APFS and stuff...)

In every new macOS update for iMac when I update official from Software update (AppStore), it breaks this Night Shift Patcher, and I have to disable SIP and re-enable again in order to complete to enable Night Shift.
because Night Shift mode is not supported on iMac 2011. I'm using this https://github.com/aonez/NightShiftPatcher to enable.

This is most likely the same included in the @dosdude1 patcher for Catalina and Mojave and we are all aware of the fact that MacOS purges all additional installed extensions with OS upgrades. Therefore you have to install all patched extensions, again. With High Sierra and Nvidia cards we have now the AGC, Lilu, AppleBacklightFixup, and the FakeSMC if you use the HW monitor app.

You need to insert the prepared USB disk into the USB port, press alt/option on boot and wait for the boot selection to comes up. It will show your USB install disk. You need an Apple installer or a @dosdude1 patched installer in case you go the Mojave/Catalina route.

Yes i do that. USB disk with dosdude High sierra patched installer
Clic alt Key ( not have apple keyboard) but nothing Comes up

High Sierra is natively supported and you need no @dosdude1 patched installer. The stock Apple installer will work.
You can connect the system to the router or a WIFI network and use the internet recovery (google the key combination). High Sierra will be installed and loaded from Apple servers.

And you need a keyboard with an alt/option key to at least a replacement. I cannot comment on third party keyboards, but to getting a working keyboard and knowing the keys is something you should have done before.

If nothing comes up there should be at least the folder symbol. Please attach a photo of nothing.

Thanx for your reply
In fact i have no picture and no white screen at all
Like this..
First try a PRAM reset as described on page 1 and post #1 (probably three in a row).

If this does not help check all the cables internally. This looks more like a hardware problem related to a bad display cable. The backlight is partly working. Try to plug in an external display (miniDisplay<->DVI) and check if you get a picture on the external screen. Having all 4 LED is a real good sign.

Hello, I have a 27" iMac mid 2010 i7 with a GTX 770M.
I have followed the guide on page 1 and also another guide on "Hello World Codes" "2011 iMac K1100 Graphics card swap and install catalina".

The issue I am having is the Black Screen fix, I have followed this post to fix it "https://forums.macrumors.com/thread....1596614/page-236?post=28406927#post-28406927" but my iMac 2010 will not work unless I press Alt before I boot. It seems replacing AppleGraphicsControl.kext is the solution. but it is not working for me.

Is anyone got a working system to boot on an iMac 2010 so you don't need to press "Alt/Option"?. Do I need to install OpenCore maybe?. I have not done this since I know this is to fix Brightness Control on a different video card.

Thank you.
-Lui

OK, first of all, all you guys who made this work are amazing and thank you! My mid-2011 just came back to life! I can also confirm that an HP K2100m card worked fine for me using the USB drive bios flash tool. I have it running catalina now and everything seems 100% except like @luchura when I turn my computer on, it will not work on the display unless I reset PRAM every time (Command+Option+P+R) and it works when it reboots itself from this command. Until the next time I shutdown. Spent most of the day digging through the forum and not sure what the cause is. anyone have any idea?

I did the link above and I think you have to hold the Alt/option button regardless. Mine seems to be that way anyways.

Hi Highvoltage, thanks so much for your work - got my 2011 working well with Catalina using an 880M, nice and bright. I am wondering if you can see a way to get the backlight fix to work back in Yosemite? I have some software that won't run stable beyond Yosemite and would be amazing if the brightness can be improved with a kext fix rather than one of these involved hardware hacks I've been seeing. Any thoughts here? Much appreciated if you have any tips! Cheers, Hugh

Hi am swapped K2100M on iMac 2011 ,working fine on highseira & Catalina with out native brightness ,after the Catalina Loader for Native Brightness screen colour was changed with little yellow and delay on startup no native brightness .

These kexts are used in S/L/E
  • AppleIntelHD3000Graphics.kext
  • AppleIntelHD3000GraphicsGA.plugin
  • AppleIntelHD3000GraphicsGLDriver.bundle
  • AppleIntelHD3000GraphicsVADriver.bundle
  • AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext
  • AppleIntelSNBVA.bundle
  • AppleMCCSControl.kext
  • IOSurface.kext

AppleGVA.framework was transfer to PrivateFrameworks for intel quick sync with Permission
OpenCore Configurator changed Picker Mode” from “External” to “Builtin

For native brightness for Catalina 15.5 Lilu.kext and WhateverGreen.kext needed for K2100M,please
mention what is reason for the colour change issue for the screen,if we installed nightshift patcher on the iMac 2011 ,has any issues.
