Hi guys, I was able to install windows 10 on my Imac 2011 wich is not upgraded. Is win 10 also working with mid 2010 21,5 incl. WX4130 after installation of opencore on usb?
Thank you!

Another question. I have no audio on the internal speakers after upgrading to the wx4130/rx460 if Im operating without Opencore. As far as I red it is not written in the guides?
Your posts are really good crypto exercises.
Please add a signature to your account with hardware and software.

The OLCP will get the SSDT tables back to enable young for UEFI windows sound. Currently it has no such tables included.

The 2010 had never sound problems to my knowledge.

@khronokernel just wrote back the fixes are online. Please download the most recent 0.0.22 of today again and check and report back. Just make sure that you iMac11.2 is properly recognized by the patcher tool and choose the option metal NVIDIA GPU before creating the EFI.

Install to the internal disk, no need to make things complicated using the CL as before.
I tried this late last night and it didn't work... OCLP 0.0.22 is still not adding the Pci 0x1 entry in config.plist.
Am I looking in the right place? I downloaded this file:

Just checked the OCLP code, the 11,2 gets the PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)

When I write download again I usually really mean it. The fix has been brought in within the last 20 hours.
You have to choose the NDIDIA METAL GPU within the patcher options, though.

EDIT:
I like being right but in this case you just could have tried to download and create an EFI instead of driving me into doubt again (with no evidence at all). Last night is not now and this eats up my time...which is a valuable as yours.

I'm trying to help here, mate...

I just tested it again and it doesn't work. Same as before.
I'm pretty sure there's something I must be doing wrong...

Here are the steps I followed:
- Downloaded OCLP from https://github.com/dortania/OpenCor...ases/download/0.0.22/OpenCore-Patcher.app.zip
- Configured patcher settings forcing Metal card and selecting NVIDIA
- Built OC
- Installed OC ot the EFI partition

I then open the resulting config.plist file and the Pci 0x3 entry is there but not the PCi 0x1.

The 0.0.22 release says it is 5 days old... but I don't really understand how is that information refreshed in Github.
I trust what you say about the code... maybe the link I'm using to download the app is not refreshed yet?
Or you were suggesting I should download the source code instead of the app?

Peace, I guess it needs an new release to have the code changes included.
Nevertheless we are wasting time since you got it fixed.
Hope others won’t fall in into that trap until the next release is coming out.

Hi all. So, following on the advice here I asked for sellers if they sold K1100's that were compatible with iMac I finally found one that even pre-flashed it with the BIOS recommended in the first post of this thread. I got it yesterday, installed it and seemed to work OK. Use Dosdude's patch to install catalina, ran the post-install patches for my machine (2011 iMac 21.5") and used the Catalina loader for brightness controls. All seemed to be working fine (got a few random reboots, but then applied the catalina post-install patches from Dosdude and it seemed to have done the trick).

However, as per the guide here, I used the kext utility and the files provided in that link to solve the sleep function issue. After doing what the instructions said, I rebooted and then the computer would not boot. It would get to around half of the loading screen at the start and then it would restart again. I tried to boot with and without opencore and nothing. Sometimes it would reboot almost immediately, ending up in a continuous loop and I would get this message saying that there was a problem starting up because of an error.

I tried to use Doddude's installer to reinstall Catalina, and it wouldn't even allow me to do that. Sort of half way through the installation (after first reboot) it would reboot itself.

I have now booted from a disk image (with High Sierra) that I created with Superduper before I embarked on this. I'm now restoring it after wiping the boot drive and hope to be able to restart the whole process again.

Any thoughts on what I did wrong or should I just stay away from that sleep fix? Also, if this were to happen again, any thoughts on how to fix it without having to start again from a backed-up image?

Please ask the author of this out of data document why you have problems.

Otherwise you may check the first post of this thread for your Catalina installation options using the @dosdude1 patcher tools. Possibly you find a hint there to leave a small High Sierra partition on you internal disk (30-40GB) to have a fall back.

Hello everyone, I ask you for help! I mounted an Nvidia Quadro K2100m and ran the BIOS flash. How do I restore native brightness on my iMac mid 2011 (High Sierra 10.13.6)? Thank you in advance.

Please go back to the first page an read the first post, you need to install OpenCore to get it done. The original first upload or the old version 0.5.9 will do it.

Thank you. Just to keep it simple. Working Windows 10 is possible with my mac, yes?
I followed your link on the first post but couldnt get it done. Right @ the beginning it is written that an 2011 is recommended....????
Sorry for my cryptos :).

Everything ran nicely with the new OCLP. Great tool! Added the WiFi upgrade today, which fixed BT and good WiFi.
Video is still troubling me a little, but just don't understand what. I understand that my port should move to internal, and I guess my paneltype ain't right either. So no brightness so far. I'll start reading again..... Just don't want to break my freshly installed BS once again. Do you guys make something from the screen prints?

Did you read your own message? Your were writing 2011.

There are a lot of installation instructions available for Windows on the (i)Mac. This is not the Windows installation thread. I have installed it using the same method on 2010 and 2011.

Genuine Native Boot Screen & Brightness Control

View attachment 942200

Pre-installation Requirements:
- iMac12,2 (27-inch Mid 2011) Mac-942B59F58194171B (Tested machine)
- BootROM: 87.0.0.0.0. Please use High Sierra to update your BootROM to latest version.
- One of the following GPUs:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M
N15E-GX-A2, MXM-B (3.0)
8GB VRAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M
N15E-GT-A2, MXM-B (3.0)
non-functional cards/original_ROMs:
80.04.EF.00.A2 (MSI)
80.04.F7.00.0C (MSI)

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M
Kepler (GK104)
N15P-GX-B-A2
Base ROMs:
80.04.F5.00.06
80.04.E8.00.0D
80.04.E9.00.03
Maxwell (GM107) N15P-GX-A1? - non-function with MacOS; cannot trust sources with GPU Variant
Base ROMs:
82.07.24.00.19
82.07.34.00.03
82.07.34.00.08
82.07.49.00.05

The GTX880M is the first 8GB VRAM card to work in our machines! I now have as much vram as system ram. I'm happy to report that macOS sees all the ram. It is boosting fully even at base clock speeds. When I purchased this card, the rivets were very long and kept too much of the GPU away from the heatsink surface. It was thermal throttling early as it sensed an overheat situation. When I removed the rivets, and used screws to secure it, I was able to get a much tighter seal and the card boosted properly.

Tested on a 2011 iMac using High Sierra 10.13.6. Please feel free to test on other MacOS versions, I will update this post as necessary with success/failures.

  • These ROMs do not require a 3rd party bootloader like OpenCore.
  • They will require a modification of the base AppleIntelPanelA/ApplePanels/F10Ta007 brightness stepping.
  • The frame-buffer depth issues remains for now, and can be temporarily corrected by entering a sleep cycle.

As previous, these roms should bring back:

⦁ Genuine native brightness control
⦁ Genuine ‘gray’ early-boot screen (stage 1 & 2 progress bar)
⦁ Genuine macOS bootloader compliance

Post-installation Requirements:
Brightness Control Stepping Mod:
-Turn computer on, hold down Command(⌘)-R
-Choose Utilities > Terminal
-Enter:csrutil disable
-MacOS Catalina: requires you to make root writeable: sudo mount -uw /
-Reboot
-Download and open 'Kext Utility v2.6.6'

-Navigate to S/L/E (System/Library/Extensions)
-Copy "AppleBacklight.kext" to Desktop
-Edit: AppleBacklight.kext/Contents/Info.plist
-Scroll down to: IOKitPersonalities > AppleIntelPanelA > ApplePanels
-There you find several Apple LCD profiles.
-For the iMac 2011 27" machine locate:
Code:
<key>F10Ta007</key>
<data>
ABEABgALABQAHAAnADMAPwBOAFwAZwBzAIEAkQClAL8A2wD/
</data>
-Change the <data> section to:
ABEAAgA3AF8AigCzAOsBJAFnAakB1AIJAlQCogL4A00DlgRpBGk=

-Drag your modded kext into Kext Utility, allow it correct permissions
-"Applebacklight.kext.bak" folder will be created
-Reboot

The above data pattern will allow for a wider span of steppings for the brightness control and utilizes more of the capacity of the HD3000. If you have a different machine, your panel ID can be found by going to System Preferences > Displays > Color > Open Profile > mmod

Caveats post-install/Bugs:
-16bit resolution glitch of UGA_DRAW_PROTOCOL - temporary solution: activate a sleep cycle and return, this should now clear the issue.

**update 9/4/2020**
please note the 870M_6GB_UGA.rom is experimental and in testing phases for those interested and have the card.

"insanely great!"

Good evening. BIOS installed everything "fine" in the Mac, but there are 3 problems: 1 - the maximum brightness has become less than it was on the old video card; 2 - there is a gradient transition ladder (screen and photo below); 3 - the most important thing is that a black screen appears in the bootcamp when installing the nvidia driver, as I understand Windows does not accept your modified BIOS. Tell me, have you encountered this and how to solve it? I use Mac OS HD and Windows 10

Hi,

Probably not right away. today i re-downloaded the OCLPfrom Github, started all over at step 1. and 2. Then I went to step 5. and patched the wifi and the Nvidia part. guessed that it needed to be build again, so went to option 2. again and wrote to my SSD. Have a good night. I'm closing the iMac and take a sleep over it. ;-)

It took me while to get the correct order. This is for iMacs with metal cards. In order to save @Ausdauersportler some grief: with Nvidia cards, OCLP can be written to the internal drive. For AMD cards, OCLP must be on an external USB or SD-Card.

The order should be:
1. Start OCLP APP,
2. Select 5 for Patcher Settings,
3. Choose 4 to force iMac metal patch,
4. Pick 1 for AMD OR 2 for Nvidia GPU,
5. Q for quit,
6. Take 1 to Build Opencore,
7. Choose 2 to write to your USB or internal drive according to your situation,
8. Exit from OCLP APP
9. Reboot your computer while holding ALT/Option,
10. At the drive picker choose the OCLP (if you want to have this work invisibly, select OCLP icon while holding the CTRL key. You will see the arrow change from a straight up and down arrow to an arrow that makes almost a complete circle).
11. Thank @Ausdauersportler and everyone else who contributed because, honestly, it won't get easier than this.

Cheers!

@a.tarsevich
1. The brightness control can be corrected. Please read the "Post-installation requirements" section of my rom page. You can modify the appropriate kext directly if you wish, just follow the steps precisely.
For your 2011 machine, you just need to change the data section to:
Code:
<key>F10Ta007</key>
<data>
ABEAAgA3AF8AigCzAOsBJAFnAakB1AIJAlQCogL4A00DlgRpBGk=
</data>

2. The ancient UGA_Draw protocol in the preboot efi cannot handle higher pixel depth (at least I haven't found a way to increase it). When you activate a sleep cycle, the HD3000 accelerators can easily handle it. So just do a sleep cycle and your "ladder artifact" will be solved. It doesn't affect performance.

3. I've tested it on Windows 7 only. I use these nvidia drivers: 377.11-quadro-grid-desktop-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql for the Quadro cards and 425.31-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql for the GTX cards. Note: there is a special modification procedure that needs to be done to the 425.31 drivers to get them to recognize the 880M and install it in the first place. I will post it soon.

I will be updating the 880M rom soon with some minor tweaks.
Look at those FPS with windows drivers that are better optimized for the 880M than macOS.

Hola y bienvenidos ! Aqui hablamos ingles. Puedes traducir tu pregunta con Google Translate o Deepl.

You have to check the first post as all the information is there. When you are using the flash drive make sure that you have disconnected the other drives.

Buena suerte!

I hope your magic eraser brings back the lost vBIOS file.

You have not crippled the card and it is still unclear why the card is acting in this way. I assume the vBIOS does not really fit but you destroyed successfully all the bridges behind you. So there is no way back to check the performance with the original (which was good according to your own tests!).

You may get another vBIOS from techpowerup.com and check it. If you find one (most likely Dell versions) which runs with your card and performs as good as the other ones you may upload it. You will not have an EFI Boot screen or brightness control and face all the seven problem listed (no, not on YouTube) on the first post.

Hi again, I'm back.

Looks like my iMac needed an SMC reset directly from the board (shorting pins) + a PRAM reset right after. Just that.
Now my K1100M works perfectly fine in Big Sur 11.2.3 (as already did) and benchmarks scores are perfectly reasonable for its specs, I will upload them soon on the file.

My original vBIOS is gone for good? Peace and farewell, may its soul hover gracefully in the fields of lost unsaved files.

It's been my bad of course, and I feel guilty to haven't saved it before flashing the card, next time I will surely do it.
I know that you are rightly bothered by random people always popping up here saying: "helo what is a flash? What is OpenCore? My cardy don't worky plz help me", but answering me the way you did (not particularly subtly implying that I'm an idiot for ALSO following a video tutorial) was:
1) frankly not very polite;
2) very depressing and demotivating to me.

I thought for a while that I crippled my perfectly working card, when it was just a matter of a couple of resets.

Thanks anyway for the amazing work and efforts you put in this subject, none of these would have been possible without you, I know it and I really do appreciate it.

I migrated my Big Sur installation to OCLP v0.0.22 like you suggested, I had (and still having) some issues but I will address them on the dedicated thread.

You hit it nail:

1) IMHO it is impolite not to read the docs and spend your own lifetime on solving your own problems *before* posting a question an bothering other people. This has become something like genius bar service for people not willing to plan before act.

2) It is very depressing and demotivating getting such requests because people act with a „link please manner all the day“.

And I am not saying you request was exactly one of those. But I love people coming here and claim they did everything by the books because the watched some silly youtube video. Do you find a link to those videos on this thread? Guess why?

P.S.:
My winter tires need to be replaced by the summer ones and my living room needs new paint. Where is the thread where find the people to get it done? This weekend, professional, for free, friendly and if your are on your way do not forget to bring the pizza and beer.
I watched a video about painting and changing tires, so I am prepared perfectly!

Dear Ausdauersportler:

You're quite right on that!People should keep consider all the time that Fora's like Macrumors need the experience and helpfullness like you do. Giving someone a ****** reaction here in return is not very helpful, en indeed demotivating.

And no, my machine is not fully working yet, but the only person to blame is myself. And if people are willing to help you out here, just say thank you!!Maybe I'm just from an other generation (51) and raised in a different way, but this is just making me feel ashamed for all the people here just coming to get stuff.....

If I could I would be glad to help you guys out, but I just haven't got the knowledge yet. on the other hand I try to be as helpful as I can in other fora (Audiforum i.e.) and try to keep my patience with people who are just not that familiar with that stuff. If everybody was willing to help people out on what He/she is good at?!? What a different world it would be.... unfortunately only max 1% of the people think this way, so we can forget that.

And yes, if you would live the Netherlands, i would gladly change your tyres in return for your help, I hate painting and I'm not good at it, so for that you need someone else ;-). I'd bet you would have fixed my iMac before I'm ready changing your tyres...... for now I'm trying on this 2 weeks on a row. Not because I can't afford a new iMac, but just because I'm trying to get this right and building my kids a nice iMac as a present! Cheers.

Hope we will be able to travel sometimes in near or far future and possibly we could drink a beer and eat a Dutch Hering :) The Netherlands are not that far from Northwest Germany.
That would be great!

Stay healthy all on this thread!

Completely off topic, but... for your painting job, the two most important things are preparation (more than half of the work is preparing your living room) and buying good quality paint. Good luck!
