thanks for that. in the post @Ausdauersportler attaches a photo of the heatsink with 2 Sensors!!! Mine only has one where does the other one connect to and what is it???View attachment 1761700
@Ausdauersportler this is the only empty female connector on the board

And it’s empty for both of my machines

The 2009 with the K3000 als running on Big Sur.
Again a little bit hassle with the black screen, but keep calm and follow the route, no problem.

Tomorrow setting up the 2011 i7. Very curiuos for the benchmark of the GTX770M.

@nikey22 was the thumbs up relating to my comment "

I noticed the temp being displayed in top right 129 degrees Celsius, this not right, is it? did I perhaps not use enough thermal grease?" ?

or was it a general thumbs up and I should ignore my suspicion?
129C will always be a null/incorrect value. If your fans are running at a normal speed then the SMC isn't detecting any issues. You could boot with OpenCore which will give you correct GPU DIE temp readings. Still ignore the 129C in the Unigine benchmark apps.

So I wanted to experiment with the UGA.rom for this card and flashed it.

I got confirmation that ‘Update successfull..’

after rebooting

I get the boot screen which automatically continues to boot but comes up with this
image.jpg

then continues booting

image.jpg

But it only gets to this place and hangs...

any suggestions?

since the boot screen comes on and the loading screen as well, it’s a sign that flash is fine, right?

i hear you buddy, but i have no other figures...

also on my Mac Pro 2013 i get 42 degrees during the same test...

both on big sur
Look at your GPU heatsink temp and add +5/6 deg c
This should roughly be your GPU die temp.

thanks for the magnificent work of the forum. After reading practically all or most of the pages, what is the most powerful graphic that I could install on my imac 27 "from mid-2011 that is easier or more native?
Thank you very much for the magnificent work

Since you already came across the first post check out the tables and compare the performance ratings and find the most powerful card yourself - this is an easy task. But finding one an buy it will be a complex job, it you read the comments about that type of card.

You have installed OCLP twice: once on the EFI partition of the hard-drive and once on the SD-Card. Since you have a Nvidia card, you can pull the SD-Card.
I flashed the card again with the BR.rom and its working again. Yes that was my intention to install on SSD EFI and remove the SD card, however when i do that i get a white screen with a crossed out circle... any ideas.@Ausdauersportler

Reset your PRAM. Choose ALT/Option in order to choose the SSD EFI. Then choose your OS hard-drive. If it is still white with the crossed out circle, then you haven't set up OCLP correctly. Did you reinstall the OS using the OCLP?

Nice pick up buddy, you're a champ. I started it on manual boot mode and selected the SSD EFI it booted fine. Took out the SD card and now it boots up like stock - Very cool.

When it starts up I get this message even though it was a regular restart from the OS. With a shutdown and restart there is no message. any ideas?

That's normal because of the problems that you had before. I am sure if you reboot your iMac it won't be there anymore.

ive rebooted 4 times in a row and happened every time. The work around is to shutdown once then reboot doesn't bring up the message.

This feels faster then the same machine on Catalina, not sure how that is possible.

Thanks again guys, you rock!!!

Wait for the real magic. When the next update comes out, you can update like every other Mac! Before, we had to redo the whole process again.

Hello everyone, although I am new to the forum, I have been reading for weeks and looking for a solution to my problem since post 1.

I have upgraded my K1100m card in High Sierra, using K5 pro Thermal composite, and everything works very well, everything is stable in High Sierra, the benchmarks run well.

The problem comes when I try to install Catalina using Catalina Patcher from @ dosdude1.

My iMac restarts during the Catalina installation process and cannot complete the installation.

I have read that this happens if the BootRom is not updated but I know that I have the latest version of the Bootrom since my machine was working perfect in High Sierra with all the updates, even with the brightness control. The boot rom is 87.0.0.0.0 and the SMC: 1.71f22 according to the system report

Can somebody help me?

What is the version of the boot rom that I should have?

Thank you in advance guys

Download Catalina again and rebuild the USB installer using a different USB memory stick and the most recent patcher. Otherwise check the hardware problems section or ask on the Catalina thread for help.

If you do not need the iGPU use OCLP to install Catalina (unpatched!!).

About OCLP and Black Screen on boot

After a lot of people here recently changed from @dosdude1 to OCLP installations I would like to ask who of the NVIDIA GPU users gets (or got) a black screen after a PRAM reset or directly after the installation.

The root cause of the problem is still there and could now be solved by an simple new DeviceProperties entry or boot-args add on (agdpmod=vit9696).

Can you please test this and report back. OCLP will add the above mentioned setting in an upcoming version, but it would be nice to have some confirmation of the (still existing) problem and the working cure.

You are the best, I followed your suggestion to use OCLP, I went further and installed Big Sur; Everything worked great, everything was resolved, I thank you very much.

The truth is that the OCLP is much better option.

Now I'll do performance tests

Thank you very much, After weeks of work, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel
