Hello

I am a Korean who can't speak English well.
please understand.
I am writing it with Google Translator.
2011 iMac 27-inch model installed gtx780m.
I installed catalina using dosdude1's catalina patcher.
It works without any problems, but the brightness cannot be adjusted.
I also installed applebacklightfixup.kext using hackintool, what else should I do?View attachment 1773052View attachment 1773053
Please help me
Your BIOS needs obviously OpenCore to get Brightness Controll. You can read this on the post where you got the BIOS from. Either install OpenCore or use the BIOS @nikey22 published. You will find this other 780M BIOS on the famous unknown post #1 of this thread, search the NVIDIA table.

Most of the time when I have encountered constant boot chime it has been caused by a shorted or dead gpu.
Solved!!! Thank you very much for your help, it was a valuable tip. I was looking for a short circuit and concluded that the short circuit is doing x-bracket. Although it has black insulation on the bottom, it had to contain SMD elements. I isolated everything with Kapton tape and the computer started up without a problem. Now I would like to ask, why is there no airdrop in my finder? Any ideas? Greetings from Poland

Chances are if you bought the card labelled as "iMac Version" that it will come pre flashed.

Chuck it in and if you get boot screen you know its flashed already.
It just turned up and it's a K1000M! Lucky me :) (seemed to be an HP or Dell depending on the Google result)

Anyway it wasn't flashed so I just booted off the USB stick and did the flash OK, and I can see the screen now if I boot off the USB stick again so it appears good, but I just get a permanent black screen when booting off the hard drive, even once booted into the MacOS that was on there (I can tell it's up by pinging it) so I guess I'll now look at OpenCore etc and do a new OS install...

Edit: This is the card I received:

Edit 2: Upon rebooting and holding Alt I got the boot screen and then it booted fine!

It's like a whole new machine now :)

Thanks everyone :)

Actually I have to do the 'alt' and choose the OS every time I boot or I don't get a display at all. What's the best fix for this when I'm running Dosdude's Catalina?

Wait, let me guess?

Reading the first post an searching for black screen issue.

EDIT:
When you just by chance come across the first post you can upload the K1000M valley benchmark using the settings described there.

If anyone's interested in the benchmark scores:
Valley FPS: 9.7, score: 406
Geekbench OpenCL score: 731 / Metal score: 890

Only a lowly i3-2100 - I guess that's next on my list :)

Why do you exactly need the amfi_get_out_of_my_way setting? I have not seen this necessary since we left the @dosdude1 patching. Your machine with OCLP and a metal GPU does not need this at least according to everything what I have seen in the near past.

It was created by OCLP. I have no idea why it's there. I just added the agdpmode boot args.

Delete it, this must be an error/issue with OCLP. It is only needed when patching in graphics acceleration for non metal cards.

EDIT:
This is a known error with 0.1.2 in a few cases where the GPU detection fails. You always should read the printout of OCLP and keep it (copy & paste into text editor). Please confirm if with the upcoming 0.1.3. Anybody who wants to play with more recent versions should join Discord.

Hi yes I already uploaded the results :)

I had read the first post (I did the flashing after all) but there's a lot there :) I didn't see my exact issue mentioned where I could get a display if I pressed Alt/Option to boot first. But anyway I fixed my backlight issue by installing the Catalina Package Installer as described in your post here https://forums.macrumors.com/thread....1596614/page-421?post=29144691#post-29144691 - I didn't bother messing around with kexts as described in

Thanks for uploading.

The black screen issue is mentioned in the known problems section nearly on top of the first post directly above the NVIDIA GPU table. And again where you found it. And it is a problem sometimes passing by with OpenCore solved by the agdpmod=vit9696 setting. It is that prominent that deleting all posts just about this topic will shrink this thread by 25%....and it comes up every day, again.

Luckily we have only a few other problems ignored constantly be the vast majority of users :)

Hi guys, I'm having some trouble with a k1000m and a k3000m both of which when installed are not detected by the system, ( 3rd led does not light up ) but I'm getting the boot chime. Also, I cannot boot into the grml USB to use nvflash. ( even with the ssd plugged out and pressing alt then enter )

Yep I missed it at the top of the GPU table! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Anyway, this is like a new machine now! Where's the equivalent thread on CPU upgrades ;)

I had the exact same on my K1000M on late 2011 iMac with 2 LEDs. I didn't test the USB before I swapped the cards but I had an old 2007 iMac to hand that I could use to test the USB key on. I couldn't get it to boot at all for ages and I had to wipe (clean) it with diskpart on a Windows box and create the GPT boot and FAT32 partition on the Windows machine then copy the files over to it on the older Mac. The 2007 iMac could then boot off the USB by pressing alt then left to choose the USB then enter, but the 2011 one didn't want to do that at all. Unplugging the SSD then it booted off the USB without doing anything.

Then I had to remember to leave it a good minute or two. It will sit there doing nothing for 20 seconds when it boots waiting for the menu option! Then I found it on my DHCP server and the rest is history :)

Cheers,
Steve

There is no EFI boot screen (THERE IS NO EFI Boot Screen) on cards not flashed. You can press alt on boot as much as you like, nothing will happen!

There is no EFI boot screen!

So the only thing you can do is disabling all internal discs, plug in the USB flash device, power on the iMac and wait until the utility is booted and the IP shows up in your router table.

EDIT: You should get 2 LED visible after booting. This indicated the GPU is at least operable.

Whatever patcher you may use, move over to OCLP as suggested on the very first post of this thread - you may call it the secret source. All necessary patches are included there (as before on the iMac micropatcher). I cannot repair each and every single installation manually...
Thank you!

I tried the USB on a MacBook Pro 17", it boots flawlessly, I think that the K3000M might be dead, I'll try again with the K1000M.

edit: same thing with the K1000M, every hard drive unplugged, the usb and lan cable are the only things connected and I only get 2 leds with a boot-chime. I waited around 5 minutes for it to show up, tried it on my macbook and it shows up.

Do you have an LED on the USB stick to see it accessing it while booting?

Can you verify the USB ports are working?
I've come across a few iMacs with dead ports.

EDIT: 8/16/20 NEW AGC kexts have been added to change "board-id" to "board-ix" in the AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy binary. This has the same affect as "agdpmod=pikera" from Whatevergreen, this upload is for AMD users.

"instant on" K3100m/k4100m/k5100m/780m etc cards need this kext to fix DisplayPort Output.

I'm uploading a patched AppleGrapahicsControl.kext that is now necessary as of 10.15.4, the symptoms after this update are a blank screen but system sounds are heard when holding down the Escape key, as well a loss of any Displayport output. The cause of this is Apple Clamping down on 3rd party kexts from loading, this mainly affects hackintosh users, but affects us as our iMacs are no longer a supported platform.

What does this patched AppleGraphicsControl.kext do to allow 2009-2011 iMacs to properly boot? We now need our board ID's to be added to the AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy.kext within AppleGraphicsControl.kext, this allows the kext to properly load on boot, before this wasn't necessarily needed. I have so far all known 5 board ID's that are supported on our thread.

iMac12,2(27-inch Mid 2011)Mac-942B59F58194171B
iMac12,1(21.5-inch Mid 2011)Mac-942B5BF58194151B
iMac11,3(27-inch Mid 2010)Mac-F2238BAE
iMac11,2(21.5-inch Mid 2010)Mac-F2238AC8
iMac11,1(27-inch Late 2009)Mac-F2268DAE

Thanks to @Ausdauersportler for the helping/testing for this kext.

How to install when your iMac boots with a Blank screen? (assuming your LCD works just fine)

When booting you need to Hold Alt/Option to bring up the AppleBootPicker, then select the Catalina partition. Since the iMac's Screen is already on when using AppleBootPicker the iMacs screen will remain on the entire boot process allowing you to log in and then proceed to install the Patched AppleGraphicsControl Kext.

To install this kext
1. unlock your System partition, open terminal enter
Code:
sudo mount -uw /
killall Finder

2. drag the kext on-top of the kext utility icon let it install/timeout with an error.

3. Open terminal and enter "sudo reboot" skipping this step may leave your iMac hanging at the desktop (A Catalina issue)

Make sure to unzip the kext to a new folder, so there aren't any "1" or "2"... at the end of the AppleGraphicsControl.kext filename. Remember the is replacing the System Kext in System/Library/Extensions and must be done using Kext Utility linked here http://cvad-mac.narod.ru/index/0-4.
I have lost my way!!! guys to apply this fix, i need to only use the kext for the version i am using right?

thanks,

Hello everyone,

I noticed there are still a few members that have K1000M cards around.

I've put together this K1000M rom to enable Brightness control. You will still need to use Opencore to do the ACPI injections, but at least we have a way to control brightness on these older cards now. Just another option.

Vram support:
- ? (will check)

Bootloader/OS support:
Catalina Loader, High Sierra 10.13.6 (tested)

Machine support:
iMac 12,1 ( 21.5-inch Mid 2011) Mac-942B5BF58194151B
iMac 11,2 ( 21.5-inch Mid 2010) Mac-F2238AC8
iMac 11,1 (27-inch Late 2009) Mac-F2268DAE
iMac 11,3 (27-inch Mid 2010) Mac- F2238BAE
iMac12,2 (27-inch Mid 2011) Mac-942B59F58194171B (tested)

Enjoy!
