I am running Monterey with my K3100M card: very smooth, almost everything works for my use-case. I use Chrome for DRM content streaming.

I have a problem. Help me
My network card sometimes doesn't work
I mounted the K2100 and started osx
Black screen but works in wifi mode
I have a d-link DUB-e100 USB network card.
Can be used with the @The_Croupier utility
I am very discouraged :(

Some time with the search machine lead me to the conclusion that there exist slightly older iMac9,1 (early 2009 EMC 2267) 24" models with ATI and NVIDIA MXM cards. Take a look at the ifixit.com repair guide.

So getting the vBIOS from the GT120 or GT130 from this machines should be of great help. Within the comments of the ifixit page I found the part numbers of the graphics cards used in this 24" iMac model:

* NVIDIA GT120 (256Mb): part #661-4991

* NVIDIA GT130 (512Mb): part #661-4990

* ATI Radeon HD 4850 (512Mb): part #661-5135
Is this still needed? I got a backup GT120 for emergency reason in case my other gpu fails. I could get the vram of it to a file.

Hi! Thanks for finding this!

We would need the firmware or vBIOS only, you may leave the VRAM on the board :)

I guess we got the vBIOS version. Unfortunately the development stopped. While I have a lot of AMD cards to test in such a system I do now own one. Tried two times to buy an MXM C2D system, one was dead (logic board), the other one killed me nearly while making tests when touching the PSU.

Before I try this again I have to find a GPU dead system locally. And a 27 system would be better, it is by far more easy to handle when changing the GPU….

It's possible???

I am still looking for possibilities to come along with this lvds in my 9,1 iMac . Still waiting for my dell card , one week to go. Should be in Frankfurt airport at costums 🙄 by now….

Yes the 24 inch iMacs before the 27 inch macs are a pain in the a… when it comes to maintaining.

Which card?

The next C2D 27 is 150km away to the north and I do not want to waste four hours and another 60 Euro shopping + 30 Euro gasoline into this experiment....

I assume there must be 2012-2015 LVDS based PC laptops using AMD MXM cards so we could possibly get away with just a lot of vBIOS flashing and some minor adjustments...M4000, M6000..

I do not understand
I was unable to patch the network card problem but does it work?
Now what do I do
Which network card problem? There is no with High Sierra.

If you want to know how to update (macOS) your iMac just move back to the first page and first post of this thread and read the "update" section.

Hi everyone,
I'm new in the forum and i'm looking for some answers.
I have installed in my iMac 27 inch 2011 with succes the NVIDIA GeForce GTX870M by nikey22 6144 MB.
The only problem I have is when I connect a second screen de iMac doesn't recognise it.
It's anything I can do to fix that?
I'm connecting the screen in one of the thunderbolt poort.

Thanks a lot!!

well, you can have a drive for free now😅 take this as a road trip if you have time, hope you enjoy and have a safe drive. Finding another one closer by would be a better option though😅

Need more info before someone may help you out: macOS? OCLP?…

I have search on internet and I found OCLP means (OpenCore Legacy Patcher) well I don't have any idea what that is.

I guess we have to ask nikey22, it seems he was the patcher seeing the GPU description.
but unfortunately, I don't know this guy.

I'm sorry!!
I'm running MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6

What is OCLP?
OCLP: Open Core Legacy Patcher, an app allowing you to run Big Sur / Monterey for unsupported Macs like yours, particularly after upgrading to a metal graphics card by taking full advantage.

Have you followed this #10,867 instruction for your High Sierra 10.13.6?

@mmoraguescoll
Hi there, as far as I know, at least one monitor can be attached via the Thunderbolt ports on the back of the computer. In order to get both working, The Thundbolt DROM needs to be decoded and modified. This is a huge undertaking.
Let me give you an example:

imac21.5" -TDROM:
ee 80 11 22 33 44 55 01 00 ae 3e 32 ca 01 54 00 01 00 01 00 01 01 08 81 80 02 40 26 00 00 08 82 90 01 40 26 00 00 02 c3 02 c4 02 c5 08 86 00 00 00 00 00 00 03 87 80 03 88 a0 03 89 c0 03 8a 60 04 8b 50 00 04 8c 50 00 04 8d 50 00 0e 01 41 70 70 6c 65 2c 20 49 6e 63 2e 00 07 02 69 4d 61 63 00
  • Green = CRC-8 for the red UID
  • Red = UID (first byte of UID "80" is Thunderbolt Bus ID) *obfuscated*
  • Blue = CRC-32C for all the remaining bytes (yellow and black)
  • Yellow = 9-byte Preamble (specific to imac 21.5")
A fun project!

Nick.
