Ok, but do I have to select all three options on the custom install section or only the one of the backlightfixup?
And very important for me to know!!
making those/that patch, I'm not going to loose all the other things are already working.... right?
another question I have about the instructions.
Do I have to "csrutil enable" after I finish with the installation?

The best person to ask is @Ausdauersportler, and the 1st post on the 1st page.
Add: #8,044 for backlightfixup kext injection without all other kext.

The bottom line is that the backlightfixup kext injection is required if not using OCLP to boot up your iMac12,2.
One alternative is to download the OCLP and run #1 then #2. Then boot up your iMac by holding down the option key, select the OCLP EFI, then your High Sierra ... It should give you full brightness. Hope this works for you.

It's not referring to your card.
Also please publish your system spec/configuration in your signature field.

Oh Ok 1 I'm sorry about that!
I already did the patch and it did not change anything.
I just put my system specs in my signature field.
Thanks!!

Question: Do I need a copper shim for the AMD M5100 card? If so, what's size?
Thanks.
You'll likely need a copper shim. It is possible (and reasonably inexpensive) to buy sets of shims meant for computer/GPUs online. They come with several different sizes, and you can experiment to find the right thickness for your specific GPU model.

Thanks, David. Just ordered 10pcs 15mmx15mm x 0.5/0.8/1.0/1.2mm for each thickness, for around USD10 😅

thanks for that link, but I need more information about what that is. I go to the link and I don't understand what I have to do at all.
And also if I figure what to do, What is that exactly do to my computer?
Can you explain me please? or give me a link where I can read about it?

Thanks again!!

OCLP will inject certain kext during the boot up to do all sorts of tricks: One of them is to trick the newer macOS, like Big Sur / Monterey to believe that you have a supported iMac so that you can install and run the latest and greatest. Another one, more related to you, is to inject this backlight kext to achieve full brightness. It's also automated so that someone like us can get old Macs running without going through some very technical procedures.
You will need to download the latest TUI release, 0.3.1 for now.
You also need to start reading. Because right now I feel you are walking in the dark😅

Disclaimer: I've not tested if OCLP brightness fix works for High Sierra though (because I've already injected this fix to my High Sierra). It should work in theory. But installing OCLP is a relatively simple procedure, worth a try in my own opinion.

OpenCore Legacy Patcher is a bootloader that will be used to actually start booting into some operating system installed on one of the attached drives.
Putting itself between the firmware and the OS bootloader it can patch the EFI firmware, the ACPI configuration and the macOS operating system on the fly (in RAM) without having to modify the actual files on the disk.
There are cases though where patching of the disk contents is mandatory like for example legacy graphics cards drivers (non-metal supported GPUs on anything later than High Sierra and Nvidia GPUs in general from Monterey on).
If you study the information on the github page you'll find a guide containing detailed information about the process - you need to study, understand and try it out yourself. You'll also find a hint where to find support - this forum here is not an OCLP support thread.

Ok thanks...
The only thing I need is to fix the backlight.
be able to use full brightness.
I’m not interested in upgrade the operating system. I want to stay with High Sierra.

Do you think I need to uninstall the other patch that didn’t work for me, or it’s not necessary?
Using the uninstall program also attached in the link you gave me.
I don't believe you installed them successfully. Otherwise, the full brightness issue would have been fixed by now. So don't worry about uninstalling....

By the way, I got this impression that you don't seem to have the white apple logo during boot up, or I am wrong?

Why you think I did not install correctly the other patch? 😅
I think I did!
I’m not an specialist but that was a pretty simple thing to do, I can’t think of something dat went wrong on that simple installation… I desabled the crsutil, using the terminal from the recovery mode and then I restart the computer and proceed with the patch installation with the program provided on the link…. Pretty simple!! I don’t think the installation went wrong, I think simply it didn’t work.
And yes, I have the apple logo on boot up. But is not wite it is dark grey like always.

Look!
Maybe I’m wrong and that is all ready the maximum brightness, but if you notice, the second screen have more brightness than the main screen.

Morning,
Seems that with Monterey everything is ok.. after hours of use i didn't have any problems about finder stop working or other, every app seems working very good, the temperature oscillate from 42° to 57° using mail, safari, youtube or netflix.. only thing i have to do is to put in sleep the imac every boot to eliminate dithering in the background of windows.. is there another solution?
And... with my imac (and Monterey), Airdrop and Airplay are a distant memory?

It looked quite bright to me 👍 Your 2nd screen may give false impression of brighter than your iMac due to washed out colour & contrast. The absolute luminance is difficult to judge from the recorded video but it looked bright enough by comparing to the 2nd screen.

Thanks for that,
When gaming I always have the fans set to full blast in MFC, i noticed the LCD get super hot.
I just stripped the iMac down and baked the 770 (probably not a wise move but the card was not to expensive) and all is good for the last hour, I will try the patched bios as suggested, and probably invest in better paste and invest in some kryonaut, currently using arctic mx2 and blue eBay 1mm thermal pads.

Hi, did you ever find out if it worked with the new vBIOS with lower clock rate? Did it fix your issue? My heatsink temp goes up after booting till 60 degree Celsius. and stays around there. With fans on full blow I get to 55degree. Sometimes I get artifacts as well and sometimes the iMac freezes. It starts mostely when I start browsing the web. I installed the GTX 770m into my late 2009 and it was perfectly recognized after i installed Nick's custom vBIOS. Is the vBIOS posted here different from the verison linked on the first page? It would be nice to know if you just got a faulty card or if you found a fix for it?
