Perfect, thank you very much so I have to install oc first of all and then create a key right?
Right: first install OpenCore, then install Windows through the OpenCore boot screen, then add the separate Windows drivers from Boot Camp assistant on a flash drive.

If you want to use High Sierra only you should use BootCamp Windows! Unfortunately OCLP disables the HD3000 iGPU on iMac12,2 - which is unwanted since it still works perfectly on High Sierra. You can of course manually edit the config.plist and delete the section which disables the iGPU/HD3000.

If you want to use a newer macOS you may use OCLP/OpenCore and you can follow the linked guide.
i would like to use high sierra in dual boot with windows. I'm not understanding anything anymore, to have them so what should I follow? thanks and sorry

I have a 2011 27" iMac (iMac12,2) 3.4 GHz/12 GB/2TB. I would like to upgrade it and give it away. I have wiped the drive and installed High Sierra. The new recipient will not be tech-savvy, so priority is to easy-of-use / minimal work to keep it running after handover.

In the Curtis Gross video he mentions the K610M being $14; the cheapest I see it for is $40.

What card(s) do you recommend for this use case? (price and reduced hassle more important than performance(

I tried but when the installation starts, it gives an error, and with windws 8 it gives an error and I understand it is the hd3000, I don't know what to do anymore
Thinking about it again, the first thing should be to make sure your iMac has the latest firmware update applied. For that purpose you need to install and update High Sierra to the latest available security update.

OCLP should disable the HD3000 and hence make the Windows 8 problem disappear...
It would also make sure that audio works in Windows - which otherwise would only work using Bootcamp. So those two are your only alternatives.

I'm not sure about bootcamp install, but on UEFI Windows 10 installs OCLP disabling the HD3000 does not work, and that causes the well known driver problem BSOD on first boot with internet (as soon as Windows downloads and installs the HD3000 drivers). You have to manually disable the device or (better) create a policy to avoid any further driver installs for the iGPU.

Can someone here who recently disassembled a 2009 or 2010 27 inch iMac share what the V-Sync ribbon cable in the top left corner looks like? I need to know if the terminals on each end are on the same face of the cable or on opposite faces. The cable on my iMac is broken and I want to replace it with a longer one (which is why I can't just get an OEM replacement, so I need to match the cable type). Thanks in advance

On the 2009 27inc iMac the terminals on both ends are on the same face of the cable.

Tips for extending the life of this cable: I noticed the end that connects to the logic board started to show a lot of wear and tear and I figured I wouldn't be able to unplug and replug this end many more times. I unplug the other end that connects to the LCD and switched sides, so the cable-end that used to be on the logic board is now connected to the LCD and the cable-end that used to be on the LCD is now connected to the logic board. This way I figure the cable will last twice as long.

Oh wow, thanks for pointing that out! I was just about to purchase one with the terminals on opposite sides - after seeing some pictures online and my broken cable. You saved me just in time.

Good tip. yes. In my case, though, the issue was that the previous owner had apparently had the display fall out once - breaking both the eDP display connector off of the mainboard and breaking the end of the v sync cable :-(

ok now I do not know what to do, I have Windows 8 installed in dual boot and I have not yet made the internet access, and I tried to disable the hd3000, I attacked the network and unfortunately still finds it in the updates. so as soon as you install it will not work anymore, and in the site OC in the end say to follow this method, I have not yet installed OC. NOW I have a doubt I tried from a USB pass the drivers for the 880m but when the installation starts it says it does not detect hardware components, thank you for the help

Last week I broke off some small pieces of 3 cable plugs in my iMac 27 from 2010 when I had to remove the mother board for connecting a second SATA cable to second port. At least one of them (USB/BT) I couldn't remove without risking to break it completely. So I left it plugged in and workaround....everything is still working. However it is obvious that after more then 10 years the softeners in the plastic are gone due to heat etc... this was of an eye opener to me and showed me that everything has a limited lifetime and opening and closing is getting more an more risky 😀

Update to OCLP 0.4.2 with NVIDIA K3100m on 2011 iMac 12,2 and Monterey 12.2
Firstly, thank you to all involved in this project from Ausdauersportler to Khronokernel, and all the others. Keeping theses machines going is a positive for our environment.
1. Very stable with OCLP 0.4.2
2. Post install volume patch identifies new video card and updates to legacy cards ie. wifi
3. All programs run without incident
4. Display brightness adjustable
5. No airplay/airdrop (expected).

Does anyone have suggestions for running airplay with this configuration?

Thank you for your assist
try this from spoiler maybe it will work for you for me with Catalina installed - works well

You have to create and enable the group policy before windows connects to the internet. I wrote about it on a past post.
This is how it looks in my (spanish) windows 10:

Hi will this work with quadro k3100m for brightness control I Windows and were do I add the dword in registry with regedit.

Friends, I'm new to the forum. Video card 6750 (512) burns as often as 6970? I read on the Internet that the apple complained only about 6970 (1gb) The 6750 (512) card is also bad and marriage? I work in an office and want to understand how reliable the 6750 card is. Thank you

Is this by any chance the same as described here ??
This link can be found within the great OCLP online docs with in the Windows 10 installation section.

Yes, it is exactly the same procedure. I'm pretty sure it's also somewhere in this thread... :)
On the very first post within the short Windows installation section and the best thing is, the video linked in there was made by a guy from Italy in Italian language...

Sorry for the lame answer, but the docs are hidden on the very first post of this thread. All macOS versions since 10.8.x should work, use OCLP for any version post High Sierra.

Problem, please help:
Sometimes my computer freeze (in long sleeps) and won't woke up.
My boot picker doesn't accept keyboard and mouse inputs. (even for using alt key I have to use usb keyboard)
I wasn't having this troubles in OCLP 0.30
