Is your memory chips AFR? or BFR? I just got a k4100m with AFR and the windows drivers will not load. artifacts and tearing with the @nikey22 BIOS from the table. If you have BFR chips, the rom on the post #1 table should work. It could be failing AFR card or the rom is not correct.

Does anyone know how to add AFR memory compatibility to the rom from post#1 ?
it is definitely an afr card, in my case an amd m6100.

After a thorough cleaning the card with spiritus, The Card is working now wow, even under windows.

Unfortunately there is another problem and the screen only appears after the Mac is switched off after an NVRAM reset. If the imac is running, there are no problems, even waking up from sleep mode works, only as I said after switching off. Does anyone have any idea why this might be?

Thanks in advance.

I installed k3100m to my mid 2011 27” imac but no display ,I tried to use usb pen method to flash , but when i try to ssh my imac it gives me port 22 : operation timed out . My imac online and have an ip adress on router page.

Hi, everyone! Just flashed an NVIDIA Quadro K3000M on a 2011 27", using Nikkey22's ROM and Curtis Gross' YouTube video (and some help from forum user Madvinegar!)
QUESTION: Do I HAVE to perform the Post-installation Requirements: ???
I already have Genuine Native Boot Screen & Brightness Control - is it ESSENTIAL to do the rest? Oh, and I'm not sure why, but I have no chime on startup (but I have regular audio within High Sierra).
Thanks all - GREAT forum!

Are you using OCLP? If yes, when you select the post install root patches it will show to you if you need any patches (and what these patches are) for your system. For example, I upgraded my system to Big Sur with OCLP and when I selected the post install root patches there was no need for any patches. Everything was working out of the box (wifi, GPU etc.).
If I update to Monterey, for sure I would need to install the root patches as in Monterey the Nvidia Kepler GPU support has been deducted. So using OCLP the necessary nvidia kexts will be reinstalled and I will have gpu acceleration again.

Are you sure you are booting your iMac from the USB stick? Disconnect all HDDs/SSDs and only plug in the USB stick and ethernet cable before pressing the power button. Or check your router settings - is the router blocking port 22?

Welcome!

Go back to page one and post #1 go this thread and read...of hit the link in my signature. We do not promote sellers, we do not search cards for you, the most promising long term options are the AMD cards WX4130/WX4150. Even the M5100 will work, but is more difficult to setup. Just read all the docs...

We do not support video guides, but I guess most of them are fine. I do not have the time to watch YouTube all day long. If you have a question about a guide comment on YouTube, not here :)
It just came from ebay, seems it is MXM-A card but in my imac is bigger MXM-B card... Should i try to instal it or it cant work?

What can i do next?

Will the Quadro 1100 and 2100, fit without issues (no dremeling) on a 2010 GPU heatsink?
No dremel-ing, but possibly you'll need the 'special install' as linked in the post 1 for K610M. (A 0.5mm-1mm copper shim for proper thermal contact between GPU IC and heatsink...)

Thanks again for your help, Madvinegar! For now, I decided to reinstall stock High Sierra, then go with Dosdude's Catalina patcher, and everything is running very smooth. I will probably end up eventually going back to Monterey using OCLP, so thanks for the tips! It's a lot of fun for me to just experiment and see which setup is the smoothest and I like the best. Appreciate it!

Post 1. Make your own pick.
there was written this:"problems with cards: Unlike the NVIDIA family where we get each week several reports of dead cards we had so far only two reports showing a not properly working Dell WX4150 and a HP WX4170 - the problem have been solved by adding more VRAM support. Unfortunately we now have to chose from several published versions."

So I can choose only hp WX4170 (which is bigger MXM-B card ) if i dont want to risk another crush of nvidia card? I search it on ebay and cant find any link :(

WX4170s are (currently) very hard to find. You can mount a MXM-A card onto the bigger heatsink, possibly by adding a copper shim between the GPU IC and the heatsink. (I would/did use a copper shim with the WX4170 too, by the way.)

No copper shim needed for k2100m in 2011 iMac 21,5".

Definitely. The 21.5' model does not have the 'big' 27' model heatsink. (Those 27' models that originally came with a MXM-A card will - of course - fit any MXM-A card from post 1 with no modifications...)

I believe the AMD wx4130 and wx4150, even if they are MXM-A cards, they need the copper shim mod because they are flat.
With the heatsinks intended for the MXM-A cards (all 21.5' heatsinks, 27' heatsink models with HD 5670 or HD 6770M GPUs), they don't. Trust me.

Just to be clear, I don't have personal experience with these cards (wx4130 and wx4150). I just read what the 1st post says. And the 1st post does not say that the copper shim mod is required only in bigger iMac models with the larger heat sink. So it implies that the copper shim mod should be done in all iMac models/heatsinks even if they are 21.5" or 27" etc.

(And between me and you, this made sense to me considering that if the gpu is so flat that it does not make a secure fit with the flat surface copper part of the heatsink, this should apply to all heatsinks).

However, as I said, I do not have personal experience with these cards. So if you are certain that the copper shim mod is not needed for the 21.5" iMacs (and/or the 27" iMacs with the small heatsink), then I suggest that you should add this to the 1st post.

I disconnected all hdds , my imac online and have ip but I can’t ssh , is there any way to test if my router does? , and how to unblock if it blocks port 22

I admit, it's been a while since I read the 1st post thoroughly. But as I remember (from the last read) only the Nvidia K610M (possibly) needs a shim with the smaller heatsink (K610M is really flat). Other MXM-A GPUs have enough thickness to make proper contact with the 'MXM-A heatsink'. Original MXM-B cards in 2009-2011 27' iMacs were thicker, hence the necessity of a shim in case one wants to fit MXM-A cards onto those MXM-B heatsinks. (Side note: Adding a shim will in all cases increase the thermal resistance, but by much much less than a potential air-gap, of course. If the GPU IC makes a properly flat contact, no shim should be the way to go...)

Can you at least ping it (ping iMac-ip-address)? Otherwise it depends on the settings of your router and you'll probably have look for help on that elsewhere...

About Kepler and Windows 11 on iMac 2009-2011, after install nvidia drivers, same situation with logon delay 30 sec, up to 1-2 min.

can someone know solution to resolve this?

Wanted to thank everyone who built this amazing thread, I was able to follow and upgrade my 2011 iMac to macOS Monterey, also upgraded the graphics card to M5100! After a constant battle over the last few days finally (mostly) everything works smoothly and I am really excited that I can use this wonderful machine for a few more years to come!

The only thing that makes it less than perfect is, the wifi seems to be not working as expected, shows On in the settings but is not able to detect any wifi network to connect to. :(
I am using a TPLink adapter to connect to the wifi network, a nice workaround for now and too afraid to touch the configs anymore..
I tried upgrading from an M4000 to an M5100. My 2010 27 imac can boot into safe mode okay. However it stops normal booting at about 1/3 way with the apple logo and then the screen goes black. Did you experience something like that?
