2011 MacBook Pros can support Handoff/Continuity

I think that is what everyone has already said but people weren't clear on what the actual term is. Phone calls, texts, and airdrop work but no texts, safari, email passing from iOS to Mac and vice versa.
Ok so I have the working CAX chip in my early 2011 MBP. I've been trying this with public beta 2. I can't get the enable handoff option to come up in system preferences. Can anyone give me some tips?? I tried using the terminal commands as well as the kextdrop app, and I had no luck. I appreciate any help you can give!
If it helps, my wifi never stopped working like the instructions said it should. Not sure what I can do to make that happen. Thanks
UPDATE: I got the wifi to stop one time (said no wifi hardware detected, is that right?) but i'm not really sure how I did it and then when I tried to install the new kext it said it wasn't supported and couldn't be installed. Still don't know what to do haha. Also when i did the kexstat | grep AirPort command, it shows the Brcm 4360 thing like it's supposed to after you replace the kext.
UPDATE 2: GOT IT!!

- Updated to Yosemite Public Beta 2 this morning
- had to redo the modified kext.
Status after the update:
- SMS works from mac, not iMessage
- Voice calls works from mac, not Facetime
- I can see my iphone in the wifi list for personal hotspot but it won't connect to it.
- Airdrop works okay too
- other continuity features had never worked for me from the start.

I ordered both at ebay... the broken one from novoshopping
The first shipment was a wrong card (AX) but they send me a new (CAX) and the new one was broken
Now I ordered from ibyqparts... hope this is the better reseller
Today I received the new part from ibyqparts.
And yes... today it works... everything works fine in Mavericks...
Until now I have no time to test the Yosemite features.

So, with Mavericks the CAX card works well, and there's no need to hack kext? I received the card few weeks ago, but I didn't installed it yet, 'cause don't want to have troubles with 10.9.

I also use the CAX card with Mavericks and every thing work's fine.
And I can use some special LTE features like knock and notifyr.
Is there any hope for 2011 MacBook Air users in this thread? The one specific for the Air seems to have fallen off the face of the earth.
Unless us poor saps get this feature enabled in DP7 (which technically it's possible), I don't know why Air users aren't being more vocal or forthcoming with support on how to get it working.

Thinking of upgrading my 2011 Macbook to Yosemite. Right now I'm using it off of an external hard drive. I haven't had any problems with it. I use it for all my regular things, email, internet, music, teacher stuff.
If anyone is open to using clover bootloader, I have a possible solution that wouldn't require patching the kext. Clover has an option to force a specific kext to load. Unfortunately, since I don't have this wireless card, I have no way of testing it.
Why Is It Working?
I have an Macbook Pro 13inch, early 2011 running Yosemite DP6, an IPad running IOS 8 Beta 5 and an IPhone running IOS 8 Beta. I have been reading this thread from top to bottom and even at one point ordered and receive the CAX bluetooth board. I never installed it because a lot of people have said that it not working or it was working and now its not. So I figure I wait until the GM and decide what to do then. Well, for some reason it is working for me and I have not done anything. I can get and make calls from any device and the same for SMS as well and I love it. The only changes I made during this beta testing is that I made sure I was using the same apple Id for iCloud on all my devices and I did that to get syncing to work with iCloud drive, switch is only working about 95 percent. Why is it working?
Update: I figured it out myself, thanks to ARS technica

Ok, but we already know that, Handoff features work for everyone with CAX card. Right now it's Continuity who is broken, i mean note, calendar event, imessage, mail, contact, plan, safari, reminder.
Only a few days left before GM.
Erm, Yosemite is launching in late October... We're in August...
The GM usually comes a couple of weeks before the public release so that means we will see the GM build in early October ; late September at the best.
So... not in a few days.
the hacked dp5 kext still works on dp7
Of course but still no Continuity without ios 8.
Driver updated to 900.19.4a1.
