@km9898 How is your trackpad placed? Is it perfectly aligned as the original? I remember a user who got its trackpad a bit different, not perfectly aligned with the surface of the case, after several top case replacements.

Nope, the trackpad is actually as perfect as it should be. No issues there! I just had one replacement and the keyboard feels exactly as the ones in the Apple Store (2017 models).

EDIT: I still feel that some of the keys are more clicky than others. But overall they feel a lot better, I mean a lot. One thing I noticed, the up and down arrows now doesn't go down as much as the other keys. They feel kind of stuck even though they aren't.

Break out your backup machine. That's the signal that the keys are about to die. I'm waiting on my machine to have the keyboard replaced for the second time, and both times the keys that died felt like they lost most of their travel soon before they completely failed.

Wow, really?? Just now I noticed the enter key to feel a lot more flat than it was just a few hours ago... what a nightmare... It's not bugging me that much anymore like before though. Still, it's a new and premium priced computer.

What do you guys think, I need to have the laptop for work and can't have it in the Apple Store all the time. Should I ask for a new computer? Do you think the "geniuses" will allow me to get my computer exchanged to a 2017 if I insist that this "keyboard fix" will not work? Bought this computer two months ago to work with and earn my living, not to have it as a toy.

This is nuts. I was going to pick mine up today but I have spent so much time already there I have to work late to make up the hours. I got my 2015 13" to try out today so I will just use it this weekend and see what I think.

I scheduled a GB appointment for Monday afternoon (day off) so that I can have a tech run the SAME keyboard test they used to diagnose my bad keyboard on the new keyboard. I will report back here unless Apple gets it shut down.. :)

TBH, my approach if I would have picked the repaired MPB today would have been to hard-press for them to keep the 2016 in some way.. refund, credit.. exchange... anything.. this is nuts. I definitely don't have time for multiple cycles of this. If they refuse I plan to hard-press for free AppleCare based on countless reports of repeat repairs not resolving the issue.

I think at this point if they would give me a 2015 13" 2.9 16/512 I would just walk away happy to be done with the 2016.
[doublepost=1501874672][/doublepost]If it helps anyone.. I have had to do this with Apple before. The best method IMO is to make your case professionally and respectfully. I think what I may do is take some time, create a Photo Album on my iPad for "Repeat Keyboards" and take screenshots of every post here that states they have been through at least 1 repair and are still having the issue..

NOTE - Anyone doing this, take the time to blur out screen names. Just the right thing to do IMO.

I have done this before with images. I made my case visually and the sales person standing next to the Manager had his mouth on the floor. Then Apple started offering me free stuff and to resolve.

I feel so happy having kept my 2014 MBP. Saved so much cash too. This is absolutely bonkers what people go through with a 3,000$ machine. Apple should be ashamed.

Havine those issues over and over again even on replaced machines? I am amazed that noone has taken any stores apart yet. I would be really really annoyed by Apple if this were to happen to one of my devices.

BTW i have no idea what to do when my MBP fails. Really, no clue. Anyone else feeling like this too? Time for a MacBook Pro SE.

I'm torn. Do I trust the replacement keyboard? (Would push hard for more warranty) or do I try and demand them just give me a 2015 refurb of equal value. I'm not leaning towards trust after reading 50 pages of this.

So I picked up my MBP from the store today. I asked to speak with a manager and voiced my concern about the keyboard issues. He said there was no issue. I raised the point of this thread and said there are over 1,200 post with many examples of people going though multiple MPBs, up to one example of 13. He said that was absolutely not true. He said he had the data and 13 is not the truth.

I wouldn't be surprised if they actually read this. This was, by far, the most confrontational conversation I have ever had with an Apple employee. I did not feel that I was being threatening. I even caught myself with my arms crossed before he came out and I worked to keep them down. I also made a point to ask to speak away from people out of respect for Apple and their customers. I don't believe in being that person raising hell for all to hear and see. Ironically, because of how he acted I could see people watching us.

I told him I would not give out any details or even ways that he responded to certain questions and I won't. What I will do is share that this was NOT a friendly conversation. He was using the "I understand" and "I see" but it was not nice. He may be a nice guy as he gave me his contact information and by the end of the conversation things got better but the first 5 to 10 minutes were like no conversation I have experienced at Apple. He basically disregarded everything I said, including my professional experience as a device tester..which is the truth.

I was tempted not to share this interaction but decided to. He did respond to a few things that I found very interesting but I told him I would not share that and I won't. IMO, whether he is right or wrong about there being an 'issue' I think Apple is absolutely on top of it and busting ass to resolve it. He seemed to be VERY confident in the keyboard they gave me.

Near the end of the conversation he asked me if I was with the media. I said absolutely not. I told him repeatedly that I was just a long-time Apple fan who was concerned about what I was reading about hardware that I personally experienced. He kept disregarding the posts here like they do not and didn't happen. I had to tell him several times that I WAS ONE OF THEM. My keyboard failed.

I did tell him I wanted to give the MBP back to him and he brought that up later. Maybe he took that personally but it wasn't personal. I really don't trust this MBP out of warranty. Time will tell. When I decided to talk to a manager I never envisioned it going like it did today. I can be a confrontational person and I felt myself having to work to not do so.

FWIW, I am typing this on the replaced keyboard. It is a 2017 keyboard with symbols on the Control and Option key. It does feel better. It is just as loud as my first one but it does seem softer at the bottom and all the keys seem consistent.

Okay i was literally 5 mins away from getting my top specs 15" 2017.

i was ordering online but since i never tried macbooks in person before i went to the apple store to try it a bit then buy it from the store. the macbook's keyboard i tried was sticking and not working. most of the keys in left area. didn't think it's normal so i did a search in my phone and it led to this thread. obviously didn't buy anything.

So for a guy who never used a macbook before in his life who wants a durable high performance machine, is it a better investment to get the 2015 15"? i will leave to a country that has no apple store or trustworthy service centers so it will be a hassle to send it to repair

however i always wanted to get the 2016/2017 15" since release day and i kinda don't want to get a kinda old machine

not sure what to do

No repair center ..no way in hell I would buy new '16/'17. The 2015 15" is still an awesome machine in all variants.

I had the same experience when I went to pick up my MacBook, after they told me that all of the MacBooks trackpad are a little bit uneven, and that it was basically my problem. And If I didn't agree with it that i should go back to the store where I bought it and ask for my money back, while they were the ones that caused it in the first place... I'm getting so tired of it

Call Apple directly and ask to speak to Customer Service. You should be able to make arrangements to correct the shoddy "repair" service that you received. Also, let Customer Service know that you don't appreciate the sleazy excuse you were given for the damage done to your computer and the refusal to make it right.
I told a friends dad (he's a lawyer) and he offered to help me out with everything. It's against the law to offer a repair on my own risk anyways, since they caused the damage, and i have confirmation on the work authorizations that it is in fact there and that it wasnt there before the first repair, so I guess it will be okay. But I just can't wrap my head around the fact that I need to do so much to get a it fixed, it's insane..

I am not sure if I included this.. and maybe not with the color of how it was done. But when the guy was being very confrontational and condescending (I knew nothing and he did.. My experience was nothing and his was everything) I told him that I wanted the keyboard diagnostics run on my repaired 2016 MBP and that I had a GB appointment scheduled for it. His first response was then we are going to take it and send it to the depot. It came of like if you question our work (depot repair) we are going to take it and send it in again.

I clarified that I just wanted the diagnostics run on the keyboard to confirm, to ME the paying customer, that the repair worked. He again said they would ship it off. This would prevent me from ever knowing if the repair brought the MPB into passing the keyboard diagnostics.

I pushed and said I just wanted to see the keyboard test and he eventually said that could be done. However, his first several responses came off as basically threats that I was questioning the work and if I did again.. they would take my MPB again. It was at that point I asked him to take the MBP back if a customer cannot verify a repair resolved the issue. I think that is were he got offended or whatever because for the next 5 minutes he was even less friendly.
[doublepost=1502040253][/doublepost]I have decided I am going to take his advice and contact Apple about this experience. I am tempted to be at that appointment Monday to have them test the keyboard.

i've beating my head trying to decide but i can't.i just don't accept paying couple of hundreds less to get a 2 year older machine

I paid $1,099 for 13" 256/8GB. Still tad torn as new keyboard working well. If I keep 2016 I have to buy the extra 2 years of warranty.

This 2015 has a better battery. The screen is crazy close and performance is basically indiscernible in real-world use unless you require over 1.5 Gbps SSD

tbh i care more about TB3 because i am doing an egpu setup. if i can get a good deal on 2015 i am getting it of course but for the price difference it just makes it harder to decide. kinda big risk

Well, I assume this is the place to post as my original post was moved to this topic thread.

As I previously wrote, I had an odd sound, rattle, noise....Many are familiar with the noise. I even recorded the noise for the GB. Actually recorded many times. I thought it might have been a fan noise. And the GB also thought it might be a fan noise.

When I dropped off the laptop, I noted that the keys were sticking again, so it might be time for another replacement. After almost two weeks in the shop, I received the laptop Friday....Nothing was done. Nope, neither replacement nor repair. The reason? A shocker.

The noise? Apple/GB clearly stated it is part of the design of the motherboard - actually supposed to make the noise under stress. Yes, I was so shocked I asked to speak with a manager and was shown the documentation.

As for the keyboard? It was still within acceptable parameters. Meaning, yes, there were issues, but that that it still had a useful life. To clear, we have replaced a number of keyboards, mine included - but the keys were frozen.

Anyone else experience similar . . .?

People need to start calling Apple. If anyone has a better number than the 1-800 MYAPPLE the manager gave me I would appreciate it. I plan to call today.

I gave up with 2016 and 17 MacBook Pro because of keyboard and trackpad issues: aufter I would say 15 MacBooks They had either awkward clicking trackpads, Not working or sticky keys or keys that sometimes made high piched Sounds
