Gimme a break. The only thing I see iphones used for are (1) playing games on the bart and (2) taking pictures around san francisco. For that they pay $200 monthly connection fee. And the ipad I have never figured out. All the students and faculty I know have laptops. What is the ipad for?
Not all of them have, I personally have an ipad but not a laptop. It is everything I need when I am away from home, I don't want to buy a laptop, I dislike using them, so I have a desktop and an ipad. I use it for browsing, e-mail, schoolwork etc. And when I need to type stuff I take my bluetooth keyboard with me, for only 500 euro's that is good. Of course I also use it for games...

It was all about the MacBook Pro. No mention of the Mini. Apparently they will continue selling the MacBook Air but are not updating it. Maybe at least we will see a price drop on the 2014 Mini?

Still $499 for the base model on the US website. £479 would be $583 at current rates. Wow...

To be fair, UK price includes VAT (which is rated at 20%) the price increase is almost completely down to the exchange rate which is not Apple's fault.

You guys all got it easy, here in BC, Canada the base mini from Apple is $599 + 7%PST($41.93) + 5%GST($21.95) for a total of $670.88 Can.
These sales taxes cannot be avoided, no matter where the product is sourced from.

If there is a 2016 Mac mini it will be released in 2017, just like the 2013 Mac mini was released in 2014. But it's still possible that they will release a 2015 Mac mini before the end of this year.

I'd say you're the one who has it easy. ;) The Canadian dollar is only worth 75 cents at today's exchange rate. So $670.88 CDN is $500.82 USD. I paid $533.93 USD (including tax) last month for a Mini. So if somebody lives near the border, they could drive into Canada, get a Mini, have a nice lunch, and come back home with a few bucks left over. :D

And without taxes, your $599 CDN Mini costs $447.17 USD…. which is more than $50 cheaper than the list price in the US.
