An unexpected benefit of going from an 12.9 iPad Pro back to a (2018) 9.7 iPad... all of those older covers and keyboards from when I used an Air 2 still fit and work. :D

So you really think it’s worth going from a 2nd gen 12.9 64gb 4g to a 2018 9.7 128gb 4g? Where I live with resale would pretty much be a clean swap. I can’t see it.
Seems like the downgrade of the century to me.

I love my 2018, but if I had a 2nd gen 12.9, and was happy with the size, then there’s no way I’d swap it for the 2018 model.

I went the other way too. I bought the 10.5 Pro and 2017 (through trade of 2 older iPads) at the same time. The Pro display maybe was mildly better, but to me not 2 and a half times the price better. Also no need for pencil. So returned the Pro and happily kept the 2017.

Doing that also allowed me to buy two 2017’s, with one always recharging overnight. By the way, overnight charging with a gentle 10w or 12w charger is probably the kindest method for your iPad.

Thst’s not what I did, so no, I don’t think that. My going from a 12.9Pro to a 2018 9.7 made a lot of sense for me, and i’m not saying that it is universally beneficial for everyone. I posted my situation in this thread to help others who are considering something similar and could find my reasons helpful in making their own decision, one way or another.

OK. I ended up swapping my 6 month old 2017 12.9 64gb 4G for a brand new 10.5 64gb 4g, with $100 my way, i wanted to go down in size, i checked out the new 9.7 in store and didn't think i could go back to that size/style again, i got the 10.5 on ebay sale for only $11 more the the 9.7 128gb 4g retail price, so was a no brainer.

I went from the 12.9 2nd gen to the 2018 ipad. I had the 512 though and it was LTE. For what I sold it for, I could've purchased two 2018s and then some.

I did it because I've been wanting to downsize to the 10.5 due to portability, but didn't want to do that with new ones due out this year, so I got the 2018 as a transition pad, and honestly, I really love it. I got me a great stand/keyboard setup, and just have a light case on it, so when I need it to be portable, I can just grab it and go. Honestly, I'm not sure whether I'll go back pro or not. What I thought I'd miss most was the ASK, but the bluetooth keyboard I bought was $12 and looks and feels a heck of a lot like the regular Apple keyboard, which I liked a lot prior to using the ASK. I LOVE the ASK, but it added a lot of weight to the 12.9 pro when I want to take it places.

I miss the screen size a bit, but I think overall the portability factor is better for me right now (and I LOVE the cost).

What kind of setup do you use? I just purchased an iPad 2018 and would like to know what case and bluetooth keyboard that you use.

I was going to get the 9.7 2018 but 32gb is too small and the 128gb 4G is $799 here, and i got the 10.5 64Gb 4G new for $810. Retail is $1179AUD.

Sorry - I’ve been traveling and didn’t see this.

I bought an Omoton keyboard for around $12 from Amazon, and the stand is Lamicall?, also from Amazon (maybe closer to $15). It looks like the silver base on an iMac and you can adjust the position, which I really like.

I got a cheap case too - honestly not positive which brand, but it’s just one of the $10-12 ones on Amazon that has a back and then a cover that shuts the pad off.

I like the setup because I can just flip the cover completely back when I put the iPad in the stand to use at the table, but when I wanna take it with me, I just grab it, close it and throw it in my purse. It was so nice traveling because I just packed all my extra items in my checked bag, and threw the pad in my purse to take on the plane. I’m loving having a more portable pad right now.

The cheapest iPad 2018 costs USD 420 in India. The most expensive one is over USD 700. The most expensive pro is over USD 1500. The 256 GB iPhone X is over USD 1600 or so. I bought the AirPods for approx USD 230.
[doublepost=1525538502][/doublepost]iPhone 8 64 GB is USD 1000. The 6s 32 GB is like USD 700 or so.

I just noticed everyone's complaints about this model in this thread is because it doesn't have the features of the iPad Pro. lol.

This device is super cheap and has pencil support now. That's awesome. I was going to splurge on a Pro for that and now I saved myself over $400. Coming from a Mini 4 it will be blazing fast as well.

I have ordered a new iPad! It will be a gift for my mom, as she is still using an ancient iPad 3. It's so slow, it's barely useable, yet she still uses it daily.

Managed to get one for €284 including 21% VAT. Still a lot of money, but quite a steal compared to the normal price (€359).

As I've said before, coming from a Mini 4, I'm quite happy with mine. In fact, recently got my school principal to sign off on buying some for our science department. They came in this week. Soon students will be enjoying them in our classes.
