Fixed in beta 5:Can everyone please post the exact resolution they are running when reporting if it's fixed/not fixed?
This is how:
% system_profiler SPDisplaysDataType | grep -C1 Resolution

So the "fix" was not intentionally then. That's what I feared, Apple just doesn't care. Unbelievable...Stay away from Beta 6, my mac went back to 18W on each mode

Sorry, but I don't really get it. Since you have a 4K monitor HiDPI should be supported by default in Big Sur and you don't need to run this script imo. And yes, your monitor runs in HiDPI-mode (5120x2880; UI looks like 2560x1440).So, i've updated to MacOs Bigsur.
Dell 4k display in 2560x1440 mode
Tryed HiDPI mod but im not sure that it works.
Macbook always in closed lid mode and Radeon works in Opera browser.
Temeprature is about 62-65c
Tryed this command in terminal
% system_profiler SPDisplaysDataType | grep Resolution
and it shows:
Main fact is that in closed lid Macbooks Radeon consumpt 7w (18w if you open browser and internet) without any hiDPI mods. And with hiDPI mod the same picture. Hope it works but id dont see
My hopes went up in smokeStay away from Beta 6, my mac went back to 18W on each mode
A class action ?looks like only massive petition to fix this will help
You cant sue them for this. The computer is working but you can spread the information more and more to public, newspapers etc…to decrease the reputation to level, where they have to give a statement ..A class action ?
yeah they could add it back or remove it in the betas. Best to wait till final release of macOS 12, my guess is it will not be there.
Exactly. And that means, imo, no fix is EVER coming. Sorry, but I'm glad I gave up on the 2019 16" MBP getting fixed 8 months ago with a switch to M1 13" MBP...and it's been awesome. If you need Intel, I get it, but damn ...So the "fix" was not intentionally then. That's what I feared, Apple just doesn't care. Unbelievable...
Yup, that's just how it is. They didn't care about this issue for almost 2 years now and their current focus is clearly on Apple Silicon, so it seemed to good to be true right away. The "fix" was never intended and imo thus will not be in the final version of MacOS Monterey.Exactly. And that means, imo, no fix is EVER coming. Huh? Who said that they won't ignore issues regarding AS Macs in the future? I only said their focus is now on Apple Silicon and that's why a fix for the Intel 16" is very unlikely. So if they clearly ignored some issues in the past what makes you think they will not ignore issues with the silicon machines? Which may pop up after some time?
